2027: Only those with visible achievements will fly APC tickets in Ebonyi – Nwifuru

Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has declared that only aspirants with undeniable achievements in their current or previous positions will be supported to fly the All Progressives Congress, APC, flag in the 2027 elections.

Nwifuru made the declaration when he joined the Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate and Senator representing Ebonyi North Senatorial district, Chief Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi, to commission projects on Wednesday.

Represented by the chairman of the party in the state, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, Governor Nwifuru said those with no visible achievements in their constituencies should not bother seeking re-election as the party will not repeat it’s 2023 mistakes in 2027.

“The time for stock-taking has come, and only those with results and visible achievements will be considered again to fly our party’s tickets for the next general elections.

“Those who have nothing to show for their years of representation will have themselves to blame as the party will not like to repeat it’s mistakes in 2027,” he declared.

In his remarks at one of the project sites, Nwebonyi said he was motivated by the need to complement the developmental efforts of Governor Nwifuru in his Senatorial district.

He promised to set a standard in representative governance that will be difficult, if not impossible to beat if he gets re-elected in 2027.

“Your Excellency, our Governor and our leader, I was motivated to embark on this projects outside my core legislative duties of lawmaking and oversight functions, to complement your efforts in our senatorial district,” he said.

Some of the projects commissioned and inspected include roads, classroom blocks, street lights, among others.

2027: Ex-commissioner, Tancy Al-Makura quits APC amid fallout from guber primaries

A former Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development in Nasarawa State, Hon. Mohammed Tanimu Sarki, popularly known as Tancy Al-Makura, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) with immediate effect.

The former commissioner announced his resignation in a letter addressed to the APC Chairman of Gayam Ward in Lafia Local Government Area and dated May 26, 2026.

In the letter, Tancy Al-Makura said his decision followed extensive consultations with political associates, stakeholders, supporters, and loyalists across the state.

Although he did not openly attack the party leadership, political observers linked his resignation to the growing discontent trailing the APC’s recently concluded governorship primaries, which have continued to generate controversy and defections within the party.

The former commissioner expressed gratitude to the APC leadership and members for the support, cooperation, and opportunities extended to him during his time in the party.

He noted that serving under the platform of the APC provided him the opportunity to contribute to the development of Nasarawa State and build lasting political relationships.

His resignation comes amid increasing political tension within the ruling party following allegations of irregularities and manipulation during the governorship primaries that produced Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada as the party’s candidate.

The development also comes barely hours after former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, resigned from the APC over what he described as irregularities and lack of transparency in the governorship primary election.

He was reacting following growing political calculations surrounding Peter Obi and the expected role of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso within the party ahead of 2027.

The former Bayelsa State Governor emphasized that the party was being built as a lasting political institution driven by ideology, reforms and national interest rather than personal ambition.

“We are not building a special-purpose vehicle for any individual. We are building together a political party that will stand the test of time. We will resist any personal ambition,” Dickson declared.
