Bodejo withdraws from Taraba senatorial race
Alhaji Abdullahi Bello Bodejo, an aspirant for the Taraba Central Senatorial District seat, has announced his withdrawal from the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial race ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Bodejo also declared his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas and Senator Haruna Manu in their respective political bids.
The announcement was made on Sunday through the Director-General of his campaign council, Alhaji Adamu Isa, who said Bodejo had directed all his supporters to rally behind the trio in the 2027 elections to enable them continue delivering democratic dividends to the people of Taraba State and Nigeria at large.
According to Isa, Bodejo’s ambition to contest the senatorial seat was never intended to antagonise any individual, but rather to contribute to the ongoing development efforts in Taraba Central senatorial district.
He noted that Governor Kefas and Senator Manu had already initiated programmes aimed at improving the welfare of the people and deserved the support of the electorate in the forthcoming elections.
Isa further disclosed that Bodejo would remain a loyal member of the APC, describing him as a founding member of the party who remains committed to supporting its success alongside his followers.
Bodejo also stressed that politics should not be seen as a “do-or-die affair,” adding that he was prepared to abide by the rules guiding the democratic process.
He urged his supporters to remain calm and mobilise massively for the APC during the 2027 general elections.

ADC urges unity, peace ahead of presidential primaries
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has appealed to its presidential aspirants, party leaders and members to remain peaceful and united ahead of the party’s presidential primaries scheduled for Monday.
In a statement released on Sunday in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, described the primaries as an important moment for both the party and Nigerians seeking a better political option.
“The ADC remains proud to stand today as the only truly democratic party in Nigeria, because it is the only political party whose choice of presidential candidate is determined through open primaries,” the statement said.
The party said the conduct of members before, during and after the exercise would reflect the kind of leadership culture it seeks to promote.
“We therefore urge all aspirants, their supporters, delegates, and party faithful to conduct themselves peacefully, responsibly, and with dignity throughout the process.
“This election must reflect the values we claim to represent as a party committed to transparency, internal democracy, national unity, and the rule of law,” Abdullahi stated.
He said disagreements are normal in politics but stressed that the main goal should be rebuilding Nigeria and restoring public confidence in leadership.
“At the end of this exercise, there will be no winners or losers within the ADC family. The ultimate objective is to emerge stronger, more united, and fully prepared to offer Nigerians the competent and credible leadership they deserve,” he said.
The party also assured members that adequate arrangements had been made to ensure the primaries are free, fair, transparent and credible.
“History will judge us, not merely by who emerges as candidate, but by how we conduct ourselves in this defining moment. We call on every member of our great party to rise to the occasion,” the statement concluded.

Anosike wins PDP guber ticket in Abia, says state poorly managed
Kelechi Anosike has won the governorship ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Abia State as the party concluded its primary election on Sunday.
Anosike scored 16,543 votes to defeat the former Commissioner for Information in Abia State, John Okiyi Kalu, who scored 3,145 votes.
The former Deputy Chief of Staff to former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Olugu Kalu Ugba, scored 961 votes.
The election victory was announced by the Chairman of the PDP in Abia State, Abraham Amah, at the PDP office in Umuahia, with the approval of the PDP electoral panel for Abia State, led by Chris Nnadi.
Amah said the primary, which was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Nigerian Police Force, and other security agencies, was conducted in all the 184 electoral wards in the state.
The Abia PDP chairman disclosed that some people allegedly refused to turn in results from five wards but explained that the results already gathered from 179 wards overrode those withheld in the five wards.
Speaking to journalists at the PDP office, the winner of the PDP governorship ticket, Kelechi Anosike, said that Abia State is rich but poorly managed.
The candidate promised to make the state an agricultural and industrial hub and urged PDP members to unite for the task of taking over the Abia State Government House in 2027.

2027: We won’t allow opposition without clear vision take Nigeria backward — Tinubu
President Bola Tinubu has warned against allowing politicians with no clear vision to take the country backward.
Tinubu issued the warning on Sunday when he was handed the Certificate of Return and the flag of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the party’s candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
He pledged to consolidate the reforms his administration has embarked on, to work harder for the posterity Nigerians have longed for, and to place the country on an irreversible path within another four years.
The president equally expressed his willingness to dialogue with political opponents and critics of his administration.
He further stated that democracy was built not on uniformity of thought but on diversity of ideas anchored in a shared belief in the nation.
“We will not allow any opposition with no clear vision take Nigeria backward.
“To those who despise our philosophy, we offer dialogue and engagement, not anger, confident that the sincerity of our purpose and the results of our work will speak for themselves,” he said.
