Curtis Jones Agrees to Leave Liverpool as Bid Made

Published

on

Liverpool star Curtis Jones has agreed to leave the club and join Inter Milan this summer after a formal bid was made, according to TEAMtalk.

The Reds are facing a mass exodus of talent this summer after Mohamed Salah, Ibrahima Konate, and Andy Robertson all departed on a free transfer, while there are major question marks surrounding the future of the likes Cody Gakpo, Federico Chiesa, and goalkeeper Alisson.

But the player who looks closest to the exit door is Jones, and the central midfielder has now given his commitment to the Serie A giants.

Jones, who has been desribed as ‘incredible’, is set to enter the final 12 months of his contract at Anfield next month, and has now accepted that his time at this boyhood club is coming to an end.

There is currently no agreement on a renewal, and talks have stalled, with inter Milan showing a major interest in the England international since having a bid rejected back in January. They have since returned with a bid this summer, worth around £21m, but Liverpool are holding out for more.

The central midfielder is valued at around £25m, and with talks ongoing between the clubs, an agreement is expected to be found before the new season begins. So much so, that Jones has given his commitment to the Italian champions, rejecting rival interest from the likes of Aston Villa.

The 25-year-old is ready to move abroad for a fresh challenge, and Liverpool don’t want to lose another player on a free transfer after Trent Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Robertson, and Salah over the last 12 months.

Andoni Iraola is understood to be prioritising midfield reinforcements this summer with the expectation that Jones will be leaving, with Bournemouth star Alex Scott believed to be a top target.

Jones Exit a Blow for Liverpool

Curtis Jones

Liverpool have had a number of weird transfer decisions in recent seasons, and letting Jones leave this summer would be another.

The club did all they can to keep Alexander-Arnold and Konate, but ultimately wouldn’t stump up the cash required to keep the Frenchman. Some signings have been disappointing too, but someone like Jones has been a reliable performer for years, and has looked ready to take on more responsibility recently.

Instead, Liverpool are looking ready to let him leave instead. The connection between players and fans is always important, especially at a club like Liverpool, but it seems to be getting thrown to the side in recent years, and the club are suffering as a result.

Man Utd In Talks to Sign £85m ‘Superstar’ After Ederson

Published

Manchester United are pushing forward in their hunt for more summer transfer additions after completing an agreement to sign Ederson from Atalanta, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Red Devils sealed a £38m agreement for the Brazilian last week, who will now travel to the World Cup as a late addition to the squad, meaning a five-year deal will be signed once he returns in July and undergoes a medical.

But Man Utd are not stopping there, and have already begun to make moves for their next signing, with the reliable Romano sharing an update on who the next man to come through the entrance at Old Trafford could be.

‘Next One Could Be’ Mateus Fernandes for Man Utd

Man Utd have been strongly linked with a number of midfield signings in recent months, but one name that has emerged near the top of the list is West Ham star Mateus Fernandes.

Fernandes, who has been described as a ‘superstar’, is expected to leave the Hammers in this transfer window after they were relegated to the Championship. But the east London club have slapped a big asking price on his head, and Romano has taken to his YouTube channel to share a big update on the situation.

“I can tell you something on the West Ham midfielder,” he said.

“There is a lot of clubs interested in him, but really a lot of clubs in England. Rumours of Real Madrid in Spain, and more. For sure, I can guarantee two things. The first one, Manchester United are in direct conversations with the agents of Mateus Fernandes.

“Manchester United made contact over the last 48 hours with the agents of the player, and Manchester United started the conversation about the eventual cost of the deal, transfer fee, but also salary. So, United started the conversation with those close to Mateus Fernandes.

“The price decided by West Ham for Mateus Fernandes, according to my information, is £85m. West Ham wants £85m to let Mateus Fernandes leave the club in the summer transfer window. He will leave for sure, because he’s not a player for the Championship, but West Ham are very clear on the price.

“So, let’s follow the situation, and let’s see who is going to pay what West Ham wants. Manchester United are very interested in the player. So, after Ederson, which is already done, the next one could be him.”

Fernandes Has Given Man Utd Priority

Fernandes has got plenty of interest from around Europe, but it has been reported that he wants to move to Old Trafford to play alongside his idol Bruno Fernandes, and he has already given his priority to Man Utd.

Club-to-club talks have already been opened, but United have absolutely no interest in paying the exorbitant asking price as things stand. However, there is confidence an agreement will be found, as West Ham need to raise funds through player sales, and all parties want this deal to happen.

United are active in the market and are making their moves in the background, now it seems that they could be closing in on their second arrival.

FIFA have released a statement after Omar Artan, who was set to become the first Somali to referee at a World Cup finals, was controversially denied entry to the United States.

US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) confirmed on Monday that Artan, the 2005 Confederation of African Football (CAF) men’s referee of the year, “was determined to be inadmissible due to vetting concerns and was denied entry”.

The match official, who has officiated at the Africa Cup of Nations, was barred from entering the USA at Miami International Airport and is currently in Turkey.

Per BBC Sport, US immigration authorities have not provided a reason for denying Artan’s admission into the USA. However, Somalia is one of several countries on a travel ban list imposed by President Donald Trump’s administration.

In December 2025, per BBC News, Trump described Somalia as “about the worst country in the world”.

Football’s world governing body FIFA have confirmed Artan will now miss this summer’s showpiece international tournament after speaking to US authorities.

“FIFA can confirm that match official Omar Abdulkadir Artan will be unable to train and officiate at the FIFA World Cup 2026 after he was denied entry into the United States,” the statement reads.

“FIFA is not involved in host country immigration processes, including visa adjudications, and has been informed by authorities that Mr Artan’s status will not be changed at present.

“In line with previous FIFA events, a host government ultimately determines who receives a visa and who is admitted into their country.”

“Despite the circumstances, I am in a positive mood and I am focused on the next challenges in my refereeing career,” Artan said, per Sky News correspondent Rob Harris.

“I would like to thank FIFA and CAF for all their support and I promise to keep my refereeing levels up as I concentrate on the future.

Unai Emery Green Lights Aston Villa Bid for Jon Martin

Aston Villa are ready to add an elite central defender to their squad this summer after Unai Emery gave his green light to an opening bid, according to Sports Boom.

The Villans are preparing to return to the Champions League next season after winning the Europa League and finishing fourth in the Premier League this season, with the manager now keen to bolster his squad to ensure they remain competitive at all levels.

Central defence is an area that has been identified as needing strengthening, and the club are now ready to make an offer to do just that, with a top young Spaniard.

Aston Villa Ready to Bid for Jon Martin

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery looks on

According to Sports Boom, Aston Villa are ready to make a bid to sign Real Sociedad star Jon Martin this summer.

Martin, who has been described as ‘tremendous’, is considered to be one of the best young Spanish defenders around, with the 20-year-old making 29 starts across all competitions for the club this season, scoring twice in La Liga as the team missed out on qualifying for the Champions League.

Villa are expecting big changes in their squad this summer, with Tyrone Mings expected to depart while Victor Lindelof and Pau Torres have also been linked with moves away.

Emery is understood to want an ‘elite’ central defender in his squad to partner Ezri Konsa, and has given his green light for Villa to table a €25m (£21m) bid for the youngster. However, Sociedad don’t want to lose the talented defender, and are pointing towards his €50m (£43m) release clause to avoid any negotiations.

The club remain in discussions with the player and his representatives over potential personal terms, but a number of top European clubs are also keeping an eye on the situation.

Aston Villa Can Seal Deal for Martin

Konsa is the leading man in the Aston Villa defence as things stand, and all of Torres, Mings, and Lindelof have partnered him with success during the most recent campaign.

But Martin is a player who has the terrific potential to be able to not only step in alongside Konsa in the coming years, but also eventually take over from his as the leader of the defence.

The £43m clause is likely too high, but Sociedad will be forced to consider any serious offers for his services. Villa know that, and they are very good in the transfer market, while Emery always gets the best out of his players. This deal could be one that looks like a bargain in a few years.
