Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi Could be Fit for Albania vs England

Published

on

England boss Thomas Tuchel reckons there is an outside chance that Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi could be involved against Albania on Sunday.

Guehi suffered an ankle injury last Thursday during Palace’s Conference League win over AZ Alkmaar, which forced him to sit out their goalless draw with rivals Brighton.

After spending the weekend on crutches with a bruised and swollen ankle, the 25-year-old reported to England duty on Tuesday.

Palace boss Oliver Glasner told reporters that he expected Guehi to be released from camp on his arrival.

However, Tuchel and Guehi decided it would be beneficial for the centre-back, who is viewed as a leader in the England squad, to remain with the group and continue developing the club atmosphere Tuchel aims to establish before the World Cup.

While Guehi has not been able to take part in training, he is no longer on crutches.

Tuchel hopes he can call upon the FA Cup winner for Sunday’s trip to Albania – England’s final competitive fixture before the 2026 World Cup in the United States – but admitted he will not force Guehi to make an unnecessary trip if he is not ready to train by Saturday.

“With Marc, it’s very painful, but there is no damage done,” Tuchel confirmed. “No structural damage. It’s all about the pain. There is a possibility that from one day to the next and overnight, we will have a significant improvement. We’re working realistically towards the second game.

“If he is not in training on Friday and not able to train with us on Saturday, we will not make him travel with us, then he can rest and get treatment in London. It’s nice that he also wants to stay with us.

“We wanted him to stay close. He’s one of the leaders, an important member of the team. He’s an important glue for many players. It’s nice to see that he tries everything to be included in the second match.

“We wanted to have the opportunity and that’s why we assess him basically every day.”

Trouble at No.10

Jude Bellingham

One of the biggest selection conundrums facing Tuchel this month is whether to reintroduce Jude Bellingham – who has missed the last two camps – into the starting XI, or stick with Morgan Rogers, who has been in sizzling form for the Three Lions in his absence.

Rogers picked up a goal and an assist across those two camps and will be tough for Bellingham to displace, even with his superstar quality.

England boss Tuchel is unlikely to follow his predecessors and shoehorn attackers into the same team, with Bellingham and Rogers instead battling for the sole number ten spot in his 4-2-3-1.

“I don’t know [if they can play together],” said Tuchel. “I guess so, but not in the same position.

“Rather than finding a position for the best players to have them on the field, it may be better to put everyone in their best position and have a competition.

“At the moment, the competition is between the two of them. They are friends, so it is a friendly competition.

“They don’t have to be enemies and hate each other. They are respectful and they fight for the same position.

“Can they play together? Yes, but in a different structure, and now is not the moment to change the structure.”

First Photo of Ilia Topuria’s Face After UFC Freedom 250

‘El Matador’ seems to be on the mend following his merciless loss to Justin Gaethje on the South Lawn over two weeks ago.

It has been 16 days since former UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria lost via TKO in extremely brutal fashion to Justin Gaethje at UFC Freedom 250. The fight was a battle from start to finish and, as his condition worsened, round by round, Topuria’s team were left with little choice and declared the fight to be over, saving their fighter from any more damage.

Topuria left the Octagon mangled and was immediately transported to the hospital in the aftermath of the punishing battle.

Post-fight, fans were fearing the worst. One look at his face would tell you that Topuria was in serious trouble. The Georgian star suffered serious facial injuries which could keep him out of action for up to a year.

The first photo of Topuria has emerged since the bout on the grounds of the White House, where he can be seen having a meal while wearing sunglasses. This caused some speculation online as to why he was wearing sunglasses in the image, with comments like: “I thought his manager said he looked like he never fought. If so, why the glasses?”

It might be to hide the true extent of his facial injuries, which he is unlikely to have fully recovered from in just over two weeks.

Topuria appears to be healing well, all things considered, which checks out when compared to what his trainer said recently about his recovery.

According to Topuria’s team, the former champion could return as soon as December, but will need six-to-eight weeks for his injuries to heal properly, especially since the orbital bone was not displaced. Failing this time frame, he will be expected to be back at some point in 2027.

Topuria won’t be stepping foot inside the Octagon for a long, long time.

At UFC Freedom 250, Topuria had his undefeated record wiped clean by Gaethje and lost his championship at the same time. While he did praise the American for his victory, he has not spoken publicly since the fight.

This may be expected to change in the next few weeks, however, after the emergence of these photos on social media, and fans will be eager to hear when they can expect to see the former champion in action again.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic Names World’s 5 Best Footballers Right Now

Published

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has named the world’s five best footballers right now following France’s 3-0 victory over Sweden in the Round of 32 at the 2026 World Cup.

Kylian Mbappe scored another brace and moves level with Argentina’s Lionel Messi on six goals in the race for the Golden Boot. The Real Madrid superstar now has 18 World Cup goals to his name. Only Messi (19) has more World Cup goals in the tournament’s history.

Bradley Barcola scored France’s other goal. Meanwhile, Michael Olise bagged two assists, and Ousmane Dembele set up Mbappe’s opener.

France are unquestionably the World Cup’s standout team so far and will be the red-hot favourites heading into Saturday’s last 16 tie against Paraguay at the Philadelphia Stadium.

Win that and they’ll then face either Canada or Morocco in the quarter-finals before a potential semi-final against Portugal, Spain, United States or Belgium depending on how results unfold in the previous two rounds.

Ibrahimovic, the legendary retired Swedish striker who has impressed in his role as a pundit for FOX Sports at this summer’s World Cup, believes three members of the France squad are among the five best players in world football as things stand.

The former Barcelona and Manchester United star said after being wowed by Les Bleus:

“Take the five best players in the world, three of them are in [France’s] attack: Dembele, Olise and Mbappe.”

He explained that Messi doesn’t make his top five because the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner is in a league of his own, and instead opted for two younger superstars.

Zlatan added: “[Lamine] Yamal and [Erling] Haaland, I would say, because Messi is in his own class… but three of the top five are in [France’s] attack. It’s not easy to make that combination. We have an example when PSG had Mbappe, Messi and Neymar. It was not working 100 per cent.

“But with France, they don’t have this ego, who will be the one. They also do their jobs off the ball, which is more important than on the ball because we know what they can do on the ball. They can decide the game by themselves – all of them. So, it’s scary.”

There was no room in Zlatan’s top five for Bayern Munich and England star Harry Kane, who scored a remarkable 61 goals in 51 games during the 2025-26 season. Arsenal’s Declan Rice, Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr and Paris Saint-Germain’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia also missed the cut, despite being among the leading contenders for the 2026 Ballon d’Or award.

Rangers Agree Deal to Beat Southampton in Transfer Battle for Dan Neil

Rangers look set to complete a hijack after agreeing a deal to beat Southampton to a new signing, according to reports.

The Glasgow club are preparing to enter a new era after appointing former Hearts manager Derek McInnes as their new boss. He replaces Danny Rohl, who made the move to RB Salzburg.

It was a dismal end to the 25-26 season for Rangers, comfortably missing out on the Scottish Premiership title to rivals Celtic.

As a result, they will be looking to bring in reinforcements during the summer transfer window, likely aiming to strengthen in various areas of the pitch.

It could be a busy few weeks and months for Rangers as they look to back new manager McInnes in the transfer market.

According to both Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie and GIVEMESPORT correspondent Ben Jacobs, Rangers have agreed a deal to sign former Sunderland midfielder Dan Neil.

Jacobs confirms that Neil is expected to join Rangers as a free agent with an agreement in place and close to being formalised.

Downie confirms that Neil was in talks with Southampton and looked to have opted to join the Championship club, but things have changed significantly over the last 48 hours as Rangers swooped in.

Neil has been having a medical over the last 24 hours at Ibrox, and a deal is expected to be confirmed soon.

Rangers completed the signing of Ivor Pandur from Hull earlier this week in a deal worth £6m, so they are clearly making moves in the transfer market.
