Man Utd scout Christos Mouzakitis but face competition from Arsenal

Published

on

Manchester United will be looking to bolster their midfield options when the January transfer window opens.

The Red Devils’ official website names just five players in midfield in the squad for the 2025/26 season – Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, Mason Mount, Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo.

Mainoo has not started a single Premier League game for United this season, while Ugarte has only been chosen in the starting XI twice. Mason Mount has five starts to his name, with Fernandes and Casemiro the chosen duo for much of the campaign.

Should anything happen to either of them, manager Ruben Amorim would be forced to call upon the aforementioned players who are clearly not deemed to be worthy of being first choice under the Portuguese.

A number of players have already been linked with a move to Old Trafford, with the January transfer window opening in little more than a month’s time. One of those who has been linked is wonderkid Christos Mouzakitis.

The 18-year-old scooped the Golden Boy Web award after polling more than one million votes on Tuttosport to honour the best U21 players playing across Europe.

And according to reports in Greece, the interest from Manchester United in the Olympiacos midfielder is real.

The report in Sportal, as per Sport Witness, claims United have sent scouts to watch Mouzakitis on a number of occasions already. A number of other teams have also been credited with an interest – namely Arsenal in the Premier League and Napoli, AC Milan, Bayer Leverkusen and Villarreal.

Despite his young age, Mouzakitis has already featured seven times for the Greece national team and would be a much cheaper option for United than other transfer targets.

The Red Devils have been linked with moves for the likes of Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest and Carlos Baleba from Brighton & Hove Albion, with both likely to cost in excess of £60million. Mouzakitis does not have the Premier League experience of those two, but could potentially be available for a fraction of the price, with reports of a £40million thought to be wide of the mark.

Mouzakitis made his breakthrough in the Olympiacos first team last season at the age of 17, having impressed at U17 and U19 levels. He became the third youngest player in Greek Super League history when making his debut and has not looked back since.

Olympiacos boss Jose Luis Mendilibar said after he scored his first senior goal: “He works hard, just like all the players do. Anyone in the squad has to put in the effort. But beyond effort, he has got the talent and quality that help him even more. We are happy every time he is in the starting lineup and contributes.

“Inspiration is a great feature for a footballer, but when you have skill, it turns inspiration into something meaningful.”

One of the biggest and most controversial nights in UFC history is finally upon us. In celebration of both the 250th anniversary of the USA and President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday, the UFC Octagon has been set up on the South Lawn of the White House for UFC Freedom 250.

A stacked seven-fight card has been put together for the historic show, which will be headlined by Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje clashing for the undisputed UFC Lightweight Championship.

In the evening’s co-main event, Alex Pereira and Ciryl Gane will clash for the interim UFC Heavyweight Championship. Elsewhere on the card, the likes of Sean O’Malley, Michael Chandler and Derrick Lewis are all set to step into the Octagon.

GIVEMESPORT has you covered for all the action from a landmark night in Washington DC below.

One of the major challenges of hosting an outdoor event was always going to be the chance of bad weather impacting the show. Unfortunately for the UFC, the elements have already played a part in disrupting Freedom 250.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the District of Columbia, parts of Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. It is expected to remain in place until well into the latter stages of the card tonight.

As a result, the UFC has shifted their schedule for the event. The company confirmed on Twitter that their live event coverage will be delayed by one hour.

Per The Mirror, this also means that every fight on the card will start an hour later than advertised.

Donald Trump’s Son Exposed Over ‘Fixed Fight’ DMs Before UFC White House Card

At least one member of the mixed martial arts media claims to have seen tweets from the official account of UFC commentator and former two-division champion, Dan Cormier, that seemingly contained private messages from Eric Trump regarding a “rigged” fight at the imminent event on the South Lawn of The White House in Washington, D.C.

The show, held on the 14th of June, is dubbed UFC Freedom 250. The market-leading combat sports firm organized the event to coincide with the 250th anniversary celebrations of the United States, together with the 80th birthday of sitting U.S. President Donald Trump.

UFC Freedom 250 is a seven-fight card featuring prominent fighters like Diego Lopes, Bo Nickal, and Michael Chandler in separate bouts, as well as fan favorite Sean O’Malley vs Aiemann Zahabi, Alex Pereira against Ciryl Gane, and a UFC lightweight championship unification between the king, Ilia Topuria, and interim title-holder, Justin Gaethje, in the main event.

One of Trump’s sons, Eric, who, like the President, will be in attendance, alleged, per the tweets below, to have privately messaged Cormier to seemingly request inside information about at least one of the bouts, and specifically asked if any of the fighters were injured. One media member confirmed the existence of Cormier’s posts. They have since been removed from the platform.

Eric Trump Allegedly Slid Into Dan Cormier’s DMs Over ‘Rigged’ UFC Fight

Daniel Cormier

“I’m probably going to get a lot of flak for bringing this to light, however I refuse to stay silent,” Cormier supposedly tweeted only hours before the UFC Freedom 250 event was due to begin.

“The UFC is a sport that I am deeply passionate about. I will not tolerate this type of inside behavior. Shame on anyone trying to ruin this beautiful event.”

The alleged Cormier account then attached several screenshots from an apparent private exchange with a profile that appears to be Eric Trump’s.

In the screenshots, Eric tells Cormier he’ll be attending and saw that he was working on the show. After Cormier replied, commenting on how surreal it was to receive a message from him, Trump then said: “Anything you can tell me about the fighrters tomorrow? Who you got winning?” Trump also asked: “You placing any bets?”

Cormier, to his credit, said: “Nah I’m actually not allowed to bet on any cards or anything.”

When Trump asked if “any of the fighters [are] injured,” Cormier replied: “I’m not quite sure why you’re asking me this but I think they’re all in good shape.”

Eric Trump supposedly finished: “I’ll just cut to the chase. Are any of the fights tomorrow rigged? I’ve been eyeing the Lopes fight and I think an upset wouldn’t be too unrealistic.” He then posted two dollar sign emojis.

See the alleged exchange right here:

Adam Martin, a long-time MMA reporter, verified the existance of Cormier’s posts. “DC just tweeted and deleted this,” Martin said. “I saw it myself. Crazy stuff.”

Prominent broadcaster, Luke Thomas, said: “I’ve seen at least one legitimate media member saying they saw the tweet before it was deleted. This is bonkers.”

Popular MMA account Caposa added: “What the f***. Eric Trump looking for inside info on “rigged” fights from Daniel Cormier.”

Piers Morgan Names England and One Other Nation That Can Win

Published

Piers Morgan has claimed only one nation can stop England in their pursuit of a first World Cup win since 1966, and believes history will be made in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

There are a record 48 teams participating this year, but only a handful of nations are seen as favourites to go all the way and lift the iconic trophy. And with good reason. Only seven of this year’s qualified countries have ever won the World Cup, showing how rare a new winner is.

Cristiano Ronaldo, a well-known friend of Morgan, is looking to deliver Portugal’s first-ever success in the competition. It would mark his place in the history books and further cement his legacy as one of the all-time greats. But Piers doesn’t think CR7 will be getting his hands on the trophy this year.

Instead, the British journalist and media personality believes there are only two teams in with a chance of winning the World Cup. Firstly, he’s backed Thomas Tuchel’s England to be there until the very end, with only one nation capable of pipping the Three Lions to the post.

England start their campaign against Croatia on Wednesday night before facing Panama and Ghana in the remaining group games. The 2018 semi-finalists are viewed as strong contenders, as Tuchel has many incredible players at his disposal.

Sir Alex Ferguson

Sir Alex Ferguson Named His 2026 World Cup Favourites – Snubbed England and Ronaldo

Sir Alex Ferguson has named the team to beat at the 2026 World Cup… and it’s not Thomas Tuchel’s England.

But Morgan thinks Carlo Ancelotti and Brazil can spoil the party and extend his country’s 60 years of hurt. The 62-year-old gave his bold prediction on X, saying:

“No country has ever won it with a foreign manager, but this is the year that ends. England or Brazil will win, and Tuchel or Ancelotti will make history.”

He’s right; no manager has ever won the World Cup while managing a country he wasn’t born in. It’s an incredible statistic, but one Ancelotti and Tuchel could break if they go all the way this year.

Brazil ‘Best Suited’ to World Cup Conditions

Morgan did admit he would ‘love’ to see Portugal and Ronaldo finally lift the trophy if England weren’t to go all the way. He said: “If England don’t win then I’d love to see Portugal win it.”

However, he still believes Brazil are ‘dangerous’ and even said they are ‘best suited to the conditions’. He continued: “But Brazil have an amazing squad, a great manager, are best suited to the conditions, and nobody is talking about them much… dangerous!”

The South Americans would be delighted to escape their opening game with a point against Morocco. Vinicius Junior scored a brilliant goal to rescue a 1-1 draw after being put to the sword in the opening 20 minutes. The Selecao still have fixtures against Haiti and Scotland to come.
