When Every Premier League Club Last Won 5 Games in a Row

Published

on

One singular Premier League season has various subplots attached to it, of course, but none are stranger than Frank Illett’s story. Known as The United Strand, the well-documented ‘content creator’ has caught the attention of many – including GIVEMESPORT, evidently – as he vows to not cut his hair until Manchester United win a total of five games in a row.

Not exclusively in England’s top flight, but Ruben Amorim‘s men are required to pick up a quintet of five victories – one after the other – before he is able to walk into a barber shop and get rid of his ever-growing hair.

Given that Amorim only won back-to-back matches in the Premier League just in October 2025, a whole 11 months since he replaced Erik ten Hag, it may be a while until Illett takes the clippers to his hair. But how long has it been since United – and every other 19 teams plying their trade in the English top division – won five consecutive matches in all competitions?

Arsenal – October 21 – November 4, 2025

champions league arsenal

It’s no secret that Arsenal, led by Mikel Arteta, have been one of the most in-form teams over the last few years or so – and that’s evidenced in them finishing second in three seasons on the trot. Winning games, and often comfortably, has never been the issue between them and lifting silverware, though, and that’s showcased by their five-match winning streak between October and November of this year.

Aston Villa – September 25 – October 19, 2025

Ian Maatsen celebrates scoring for Aston Villa

Much like Arsenal, Unai Emery-managed Aston Villa have struck gold on five occasions this season, too, and that’s despite their campaign getting off to a very tricky start. Eyebrows were raised over the Birmingham-based club’s prospects for 2025/26 as they went six games without a win. Things at Villa Park changed quickly and a five-game winning streak – in fixtures across the Premier League and Europa League – beckoned.

Burnley – April 11 – May 3, 2025

Burnley boss Scott Parker watching on

Scott Parker and Burnley have struggled to get many wins since being promoted to the Premier League last season – but they were often a cut above the rest in England’s second tier. Concluding last season with five wins, against Norwich City, Watford, Sheffield United, Queens Park Rangers and Millwall, showcased their brilliance. Though, winning five on the bounce in the top flight is unlikely to be on the cards.

Oddly, Bournemouth – who have become the Premier League’s darling club in recent seasons – last won five games consecutively in the 2021/22 season. That, of course, coincides with a campaign in the Championship, which made it much simpler to get victories and subsequent points on the board. Some of their wins came against Sheffield United, Huddersfield and Reading – with all five being league triumphs.

Brentford – March 7 – July 15, 2020

The side from London have often relied on luck to remain in England’s top division. Winning big – and for long, sustained periods – has been an issue for Brentford over the years and that is proved by the fact it’s been over half a decade since they won five games in a row across all competitions. You have to cast your mind back to March 2020 when they beat Sheffield Wednesday 5-0 to start their five-game venture.

Brighton & Hove Albion – February 8 – March 8, 2025

Kaoru Mitoma in action for Brighton

Known for their shrewd recruitment and attractive brand of football, Brighton & Hove Albion have become a club capable of punching over their weight as they often tussle for a European spot. Incredibly, the Seagull’s five-match winning streak started in February 2025, one week after being dealt a 7-0 loss by Nottingham Forest, as they beat Chelsea twice and also oversaw wins against Southampton and Bournemouth.

If it wasn’t for the Club World Cup, you’d have to dig deeper into the Chelsea archives to witness a five-game winning streak – but, alas, the competition in the States was won by the Blues and, coincidentally, they made it through the entire tournament by winning all but one game. Even the final, against Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain, was light work for Enzo Maresca’s side in a 3-0 win.

Crystal Palace – February 22 – March 29, 2025

MixCollage-17-May-2025-05-05-PM-6832

Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace have been riding the crest of a wave in recent months. Not only did they recently end their impressive, 19-match unbeaten streak, but they beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final last season; but, in terms of how many wins they have picked up on the bounce throughout this period of success, it’s five. Between February 22 and March 29, 2025, the Eagles were faultless.

Everton – September 13 – October 3, 2020

Not only did Everton win five on the bounce but, between September and October 2020, they went on a more-than-impressive winning streak of seven matches – starting with a 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League and ending with a 4-2 win over Brighton & Hove Albion. Coincidentally, it was rivals Liverpool who brought an end to their wicked run of form with a 2-2 draw in October.

Fulham – December 26, 2022 – January 12, 2023

Fulham boss Marco Silva watching on from the dugout

The first team to have split their five-match winning streak over two separate years is Marco Silva’s Fulham, who last achieved the feat between Boxing Day in 2022 – when they beat London rivals Palace 3-0 – and January 12, 2023, when they beat Chelsea 2-1 on home soil. It was a 1-0 loss to Newcastle United that saw it all come crashing down, though, and they then went on a four-game streak without a win.

Leeds United – April 8 – August 18, 2025

leeds united elland road

Spanning across two seasons with a seven-game winning streak, six of Leeds United‘s victories – with Preston North End, Oxford United and Stoke City among those to fall at the hands of Daniel Farke’s men – came while they were plying their trade in the Championship last term. The final victory was their 2025/26 Premier League curtain-raiser, which was a 1-0 win over Everton on August 18, 2025.

Liverpool – August 15 – September 23, 2025

arne slot

Before somewhat falling off a cliff under Arne Slot and his entourage’s guidance, Liverpool – the reigning champions of England – began 2025/26 just like they left off last time out by winning games as if they were going out of fashion. Their title-defending season began with a 4-2 win over Bournemouth and that was followed by victories over Newcastle United, Arsenal, Atletico Madrid and the like. Things have been tricky ever since.

Manchester City – May 20 – June 26, 2025

manchester city

In the past, it had become commonplace for Manchester City to pick up five wins on the bounce under the guidance of Pep Guardiola – but they took their foot off the gas last time out without Rodri at the fulcrum of midfield. That said, they still managed to win five straight games with the help of the Club World Cup between May and June; Fulham, Juventus, Wydad Casablanca, Al-Ain and Bournemouth were their opponents.

You have to search beyond last season to find when Manchester United last achieved a five-game winning streak. Ruben Amorim is yet to achieve such a feat, which means it occurred when Erik ten Hag was at the helm and Marcus Rashford was in the sharpshooting form of his life. Wins over Newport in the FA Cup to victories over Aston Villa in the Premier League, it was a wild time to be a supporter.

Newcastle United – March 10 – April 16, 2025

For Eddie Howe, it’s been a rough start to proceedings in the 2025/26 campaign as they adapt to life without the talismanic Alexander Isak and, understandably, with the goal-getting Swede at the sharp end of the pitch for the Magpies, goals – and therefore, wins – were much more viable. It was, however, only last season when Newcastle United bagged five wins on the trot. Between March 10 and April 16, they beat Brentford, Leicester City and others.

From Nuno Espirito Santo to Ange Postecoglou to Sean Duyche, there have been too many managerial changes for Nottingham Forest to get a good run of form under their belt so far this term. Seven matches on the trot were won by the Tricky Trees last season between December 2024 and January 2025, though, and Dyche will be hoping to emulate a resemblance of that form before the current season ends.

Sunderland – March 2 – March 17, 2021

General view of the Stadium of Light - home of Sunderland

Sunderland, now under the stewardship of the brilliant Regis Le Bris, are slowly approaching the five-year anniversary of when they reigned supreme in five games on the trot. It was between March 2 and March 17, 2021 – and, at that time, the Black Cats were playing their football in League One and trying to get promoted to the Championship. Now they are two tiers above that level, meaning another five-game streak is looking unlikely for now.

Tottenham Hotspur – September 18 – October 3, 2024

ange postecoglou

Although the majority of Tottenham Hotspur fans were unhappy with the progress made under Ange Postecoglou before Thomas Frank’s arrival in the summer, the charming Aussie certainly won over a few in north London. That’s probably because he ended their long-standing trophy drought by winning the Europa League, but he also took them on a five-match winning run between September 18 and October 3, 2024.

West Ham United – January 1 – January 26, 2021

Similarly to Sunderland, it’s been nearly five years since West Ham United could stand proudly with their chests out to say they had won five games in a row. It’s by no means an easy feat – and the side from east London have evidently struggled with the ups and downs of Premier League football in that time. The club’s six-game streak included victories over Doncaster in the FA Cup and Everton in the Premier League.

Wolverhampton Wanderers – March 15 – April 26, 2025

wolves

After losing Matheus Cunha in the summer, the 2025/26 season has been nothing short of a horror show for those of a Wolverhampton Wanderers persuasion. Vitor Pereira’s football philosophy is branded boring by many – but they weren’t saying that when the Old Gold embarked on a five-match winning streak between March and April this year. They were, incredibly, the most in-form team of that period. How times have changed!

Tottenham Set to Make Offer to Sign Koln Star Said El Mala

Published

Tottenham are set to make a concrete offer to sign a new forward in the summer transfer window, according to reports from Germany.

In the opening weeks of the summer, Tottenham heavily focused on strengthening their defence after a disappointing few years.

Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson both arrived at the club on free transfers, adding experience and defensive solidity to Roberto De Zerbi’s side.

Attention has quickly turned to strengthening their midfield and attack, with Spurs looking to bring in reinforcements in multiple positions this summer.

After finishing 17th in the Premier League two seasons on the bounce, new additions are needed, especially if they want to help De Zerbi fully implement his style of play.

Tottenham Set to Make Offer for New Forward

According to a report from Bild in Germany, Tottenham are set to make a concrete offer to sign Koln forward Said El Mala in the summer transfer window.

De Zerbi is believed to be very fond of the attacker, who enjoyed a phenomenal season in the Bundesliga despite being just 19 years old.

El Mala, who has been described as a ‘one in a million talent’, contributed 17 goals and assists combined in what was his first season playing top-flight football.

El Mala’s versatility could attract Tottenham to the German youngster. He’s predominantly played on the left-hand side of attack during his career, but can also play on the right, through the middle as a number 10, and even as a centre forward.

The 19-year-old was close to joining Brentford, but he has informed the club that he doesn’t want to join, despite having an agreement. That means his future is completely open again.

Tottenham Working on Multiple Deals

GIVEMESPORT sources have confirmed that Tottenham are willing to pay in the region of £85m to sign Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali in the summer transfer window.

De Zerbi in particular is pushing to bring the Italian midfielder to North London, with Spurs already holding talks with Tonali.

Spurs have also reached an agreement with Brighton over a move to sign Jan Paul van Hecke in a £52m deal.

Tottenham certainly aren’t messing around after already bringing Senesi and Robertson to the club as they look to head back in the right direction after a difficult couple of years.

England’s 11 For 2026 World Cup Opener vs Croatia ‘Leaked’

Published

By

England’s starting XI for their 2026 World Cup opener against Croatia has been leaked with the match just a few hours away.

The Three Lions, considered one of the favourites to win this summer’s competition in North America, will get their campaign underway on Wednesday evening when they take on Croatia at Dallas Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The starting 11 that Thomas Tuchel will field for the match against Vatreni has now been leaked, with the German making some big calls.

According to talkSPORT, Jordan Pickford will be the man between the sticks. There’s no surprise there, with the Everton stopper widely expected to be England’s starting goalkeeper throughout the tournament.

The supremely talented Nico O’Reilly will start at left-back, while Chelsea captain Reece James will start on the opposite side.

Perhaps surprisingly, Marc Guehi will start the match on the bench, with John Stones and Ezri Konsa preferred in the centre of defence.

As expected, Declan Rice and Elliot Anderson will start in the middle of midfield. There were huge question marks as to who would start as the number 10, but it is Jude Bellingham who has reportedly been given the nod over Morgan Rogers.

Anthony Gordon will start on the left wing, while, surprisingly, Noni Madueke will start instead of Bukayo Saka on the right of England’s three-man attack. Saka has been dealing with an Achilles issue in the last few months.

Harry Kane was always going to be in the lineup and he starts up front. The 32-year-old, who was sensational for Bayern Munich this season, will be integral to England’s hopes at this summer’s tournament.

Manchester United look set to miss out on one of their targets with a Premier League rival now in advanced talks to secure his signature.

Unfortunately for United, they will be competing with a host of Premier League sides when it comes to new additions in the summer transfer window.

The World Cup adds a new dimension to the window, with players competing at the tournament likely to attract interest from a number of different sides due to there being so many eyes on them.

Players that perform well at the tournament often get big moves in the summer window, with scouts from clubs all around the world attending.

One player starring at the World Cup was a target for United, but it appears that he is now going to join one of their Premier League rivals.

According to a report from Caught Offside, Osasuna winger Víctor Munoz is in advanced talks to join Newcastle United in the summer transfer window.

Manchester United were reportedly one of the sides interested in signing Munoz, but his priority has always been game time. Newcastle have made a strong case that he will play regularly.

Newcastle are set to pay in the region of £35m, prioritising a move to sign a winger after Anthony Gordon was sold to Barcelona.

Munoz, described as ‘elite’, didn’t appear to be a huge priority for Manchester United, but it could have been a smart deal at a reasonable price.

Man Utd Focusing on Midfield Additions

West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandes celebrates scoring Premier League goal against Sunderland via Reuters

Manchester United are clearly looking to prioritise midfielders in the summer transfer window.

Reports have suggested that they are seriously pushing to bring West Ham star Mateus Fernandes to the club, while they have also agreed a deal to sign Ederson from Atalanta.

United are believed to have pulled out of the race to sign Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali and Elliot Anderson.

It appears that Fernandes and Ederson could be the two targets for the midfield position, but there is still a chance they look to bring in a third before the window closes.
