Jamie Carragher has broken his silence on the Mohamed Salah saga, suggesting that his actions were “a disgrace”.
The Egyptian star has caused shockwaves after declaring his belief that he’s been “thrown under the bus” by the club after being left on the bench in each of the last three matches and failing to play a single minute in two of the three games.
Following the 3-3 draw with Leeds United, Salah claimed that he had “no relationship” with Arne Slot and suggested that the weekend’s clash with Brighton could be his last.
As a result, Liverpool have decided to leave him out of the traveling squad for Tuesday’s clash with Inter Milan in the Champions League.
Jamie Carragher Sends Message To Mohamed Salah
Carragher spoke out on the Salah incident on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football and didn’t mince his words when analysing his conduct post-Leeds United. He said: “I thought it was a disgrace what he did after the game. Some people have painted it as an emotional outburst, but I don’t think it was. I think that whenever Mo Salah stops in a mixed zone – which is four times in eight years at Liverpool – it’s choreographed by him and his agent to cause maximum damage and strengthen his own position.
“He did it 12 months ago and I called him out on this show. He played on the heartstrings of supporters – Liverpool were top of the league and he’d scored the winner against Southampton. That was the time to put pressure on the ownership. For the rest of the season you had banners saying ‘give Mo his dough’.
“He’s chosen this weekend to do this and I think he’s waited for a bad result for Liverpool. Conceding a last-minute goal, supporters and the manager feel like they’re in the gutter at the moment and he’s chosen that time to go for the manager and try to get him sacked. That’s the way I felt about it.”
