A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Amah Abraham, says the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has not yet recognized the party’s national convention that took place in Ibadan, Oyo State last November.

Abraham made this disclosure on Tuesday during an interview on Arise Television monitored by DAILY POST.

According to him, what INEC did was to issue caution to the political parties.

“As I said earlier, with what happened at that meeting, it is very clear that everything that happened at Ibadan has not been recognized by INEC. INEC as a body saddled with the responsibility of managing the affairs of political parties in Nigeria have made it very that for now it is the courts that will determine the way forward.

“What INEC did on that day was an issuance of a vote of caution to the warring faction. It was not a meeting to endorse it was a meeting to tell them that inasmuch as there is a Supreme Court ruling that political party business is an internal affairs of that political party.

“That being an internal affairs does not necessarily mean that they must act in abeyance, they must act arbitrarily, they must act against the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, they must act against the electoral law.

“At some point in that meeting, I remember Turaki, the acclaim winner of the convention, presented himself as somebody who was validly elected by the by the convention. The chairman himself made it very clear to him that that convention went ahead against the judgment of two Federal High Courts,” he said.

Lawmaker representing the Nasarawa South Senatorial District, Senator Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo, has officially resigned from the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
His resignation was contained in a letter dated July 2, 2026, and addressed to the ADC Ward Chairman in Galadimawa Ward, Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The lawmaker attributed his decision to the party’s lingering internal crisis and protracted legal disputes at the national level.

In the letter sighted on Sunday by our correspondent, Onawo said his resignation takes effect from June 15, 2026.

The lawmaker said the persistent internal wrangling and legal battles within the party made it difficult for him to pursue the developmental mandate entrusted to him by the electorate.

“It is driven by my firm belief that the prevailing circumstances within the current party structure and the endless legal battles it is currently embroiled in no longer provide the cohesion, support, and enabling environment for me to focus squarely on effectively representing my constituents and to fully realise the developmental and progressive mandate they entrusted to me,” he said.

Gbajabiamila: APC govt running Nigeria with alarming recklessness – PDP

Published

By

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has accused the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government of running Nigeria with alarming recklessness.

PDP spoke in a statement posted on its verified X handle on Sunday.

The party was reacting to the scandal involving Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, and ‘the Director General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, PFIPC’, Adeniyi Adeyemi.

Recall that Adeyemi alleged that Gbajabiamila received N400 million through a proxy and demanded an additional N200 million to secure his appointment.

The Presidency has, however, debunked the allegation, saying Gbajabiamila cannot give appointments.

Reacting, the PDP said, “The recent grave accusations levelled against Gbajabiamila and the admissions contained in the response issued by Presidential Spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, have confirmed what many Nigerians had long suspected.

“The APC-led Federal Government is running the country with alarming recklessness, where nepotism and cronyism have displaced merit, and impunity has become standard practice, administered in a manner akin to a criminal enterprise.

“Adeyemi alleged that the Chief of Staff solicited and received financial inducements from him in exchange for facilitating his appointment into the Presidential Economic Advisory Council and also made further demands in the course of running the office.

“In response, the Presidency, through Bayo Onanuga, did not directly deny the allegation; instead, it parried them, rather describing Adeyemi as an impostor and a fraudster who forged his way into the highest levels of government.

“How else can one explain the serial embarrassments emanating from the Presidential Villa under this administration? From the appointment of deceased persons into government offices, to the inclusion of undeserving individuals on the presidential pardon list, the N800 billion Progressive Governors Forum scandal, and numerous other avoidable blunders. This administration has demonstrated a troubling pattern of institutional failure.”
