Fubara: Spirit of Wike’s PDP can’t be transferred into our party, we reject it – APC

Published

The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State has said it will resist any attempt to import internal crises associated with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, into its fold.

The APC insisted that Governor Siminalayi Fubara remains the leader of the party in the state.

The Rivers APC spokesperson, Darlington Nwuju, stated this on Friday while speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show.

Nwuju said the party was resolved not to allow any external forces to destabilise the government or the APC in Rivers State, stressing that the party would not align with or pander to interests seeking to create instability.

He said the APC had made its position clear that Governor Fubara was not only a member of the party but its leader in Rivers State, adding that the party would stand by him.

Referring to the political crisis that has engulfed the state, Nwuju traced the tensions to events that occurred while the key actors were still members of the PDP, beginning in October 2023.

According to him, the APC would resist any effort to transfer what he described as the “spirit” of the PDP crisis into the ruling party.

He said: “Let me say this clearly for those who are in doubt about the resolve of the APC in Rivers state to ensure that the government of the day in Rivers is not destabilized.

“Then let them take this to the bank that we would not accept, we would not align, we will not also pander to the wishes of any external force, anywhere that will attempt to destabilize the government of Rivers state.

“Like we clearly stated in our statement yesterday, that this governor is not just a member of the All Progressives Congress, but as it stands today, he is the leader of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers state.

“Now you would recall the series of drama, or the drama series that we’ve been treated to in Rivers state, and that was purely when they were members of the People’s Democratic Party, starting from October 13, 2023 when the drama began, we believe strongly that this should not dovetail into the APC.

“The spirit of PDP cannot be transferred into the APC. We are going to resist it. We reject it. And every Frankenstein monster that attempts to destabilize our party and the leadership of the governor of Rivers State will surely be resisted by every illegal means possible. This is not an emotional thing.”

Gbajabiamila: APC govt running Nigeria with alarming recklessness – PDP

Published

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has accused the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government of running Nigeria with alarming recklessness.

PDP spoke in a statement posted on its verified X handle on Sunday.

The party was reacting to the scandal involving Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, and ‘the Director General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, PFIPC’, Adeniyi Adeyemi.

Recall that Adeyemi alleged that Gbajabiamila received N400 million through a proxy and demanded an additional N200 million to secure his appointment.

The Presidency has, however, debunked the allegation, saying Gbajabiamila cannot give appointments.

Reacting, the PDP said, “The recent grave accusations levelled against Gbajabiamila and the admissions contained in the response issued by Presidential Spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, have confirmed what many Nigerians had long suspected.

“The APC-led Federal Government is running the country with alarming recklessness, where nepotism and cronyism have displaced merit, and impunity has become standard practice, administered in a manner akin to a criminal enterprise.

“Adeyemi alleged that the Chief of Staff solicited and received financial inducements from him in exchange for facilitating his appointment into the Presidential Economic Advisory Council and also made further demands in the course of running the office.

“In response, the Presidency, through Bayo Onanuga, did not directly deny the allegation; instead, it parried them, rather describing Adeyemi as an impostor and a fraudster who forged his way into the highest levels of government.

“How else can one explain the serial embarrassments emanating from the Presidential Villa under this administration? From the appointment of deceased persons into government offices, to the inclusion of undeserving individuals on the presidential pardon list, the N800 billion Progressive Governors Forum scandal, and numerous other avoidable blunders. This administration has demonstrated a troubling pattern of institutional failure.”

“It’s not about what someone did, it’s about what you will give as an individual or political party, what are you going to offer Nigerians?”

Lamido explained that, issues such as insecurity, education, economy, corruption among other are the issues that require attention.

“These are the issues we will be campaigning, so that by the time we win the government, it is going to be a government of the people ”

Speaking during the visit, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Gombe State and former Minister of Communications, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, commended the former governor for his fatherly role, steadfastness, and commitment to speaking the truth.
