Newcastle Star Lewis Hall a Target

Published

on

Manchester United are eyeing a move to sign Newcastle United left-back Lewis Hall, as Fichajes report on a possible £173m transfer plan for the Red Devils.

United kept their powder dry in the January transfer window, which is hardly a surprise given the lack of value that usually arises in the winter market. The Manchester club are also unsure who is going to be in charge of the side heading into the 2026/2027 season, with Michael Carrick only hired on an interim basis earlier this month.

If the Manchester club want to be competing for the top four and trophies regularly, then there’s no doubt they need some more additions in the summer transfer window. After failing to spend in January, the Red Devils could have a healthy transfer kitty for later this year, and it’s shaping up to be an exciting window, especially if their current form in the Premier League continues.

Man Utd Have Huge Summer Transfer Plan

According to a report from Fichajes, United have devised a plan to spend in the region of £173m on three new additions in the summer transfer window. Newcastle United left-back Hall has been identified as a key target for the Red Devils to compete with Luke Shaw, and the young defender would likely make that position his own very soon.

It’s claimed that Hall’s arrival could see Patrick Dorgu pushed into a more advanced position, with the left-back enjoying some impressive performances further up the pitch this season.

At 21 years old, Hall, described as ‘tremendous’ by Breaking The Lines, isn’t the finished product just yet, which is an incredibly exciting thought considering the performances he’s already producing for Newcastle. Whether the Magpies would be willing to sell him remains to be seen, but he might need convincing to stay if their form continues.

Manchester United currently sit in the top four, meaning they are set to qualify for Champions League football as things stand. Newcastle, on the other hand, are sat in 11th place in the Premier League table, eight points behind the Red Devils.

If Carrick’s side qualify for the Champions League and Newcastle don’t, then a move to Old Trafford could become quite attractive for Hall. It might not be cheap to get him out of the North East club, but there’s no doubt he could be tempted to depart.

Wayne Rooney Causes Stir With Cristiano Ronaldo Analysis at World Cup

A clip of Wayne Rooney’s analysis of Cristiano Ronaldo’s performance during Portugal’s 2026 World Cup opening match against DR Congo has caused a stir on social media.

Portugal were expected to breeze past DR Congo, who were given a 0.09% chance of winning this summer’s tournament by Opta’s Supercomputer, but Roberto Martinez’s side were left frustrated by their unfancied opponents at the Houston Stadium.

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Joao Neves put Portugal 1-0 up in the 6th minute with a fine header, only for Newcastle United’s Yoane Wissa to equalise on the stoke of half-time.

Ronaldo, who turned 41 in February, played the full 90 minutes but struggled to make an impact.

He spurned a couple of chances to score and has now gone 10 consecutive major tournament games without netting for Portugal.

Thierry Henry Goes Viral For World Cup Analysis on Cristiano Ronaldo For Portugal

Thierry Henry has been receiving praise for his analysis on Cristiano Ronaldo’s struggles for Portugal.

Rooney joked that his former Manchester United teammate will “have been raging” after watching his long-term rival Lionel Messi score a hat-trick for Argentina in his first appearance of the 2026 World Cup.

The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner equalised Miroslav Klose’s all-time record of 16 World Cup goals in the process.

Meanwhile, Kylian Mbappe scored two goals in France’s opening match, and Erling Haaland also netted a brace for Norway.

While Ronaldo has received heavy criticism for his underwhelming performance against DR Congo, Rooney jumped to the veteran forward’s defence with his half-time analysis.

Rooney highlighted how Ronaldo’s mere presence posed problems for DR Congo’s defence and helped to contribute towards Portugal’s goal.

“What Ronaldo’s doing is he’s taking that option away from defenders,” Rooney explained. “He’s standing behind them, then they’re looking over their shoulders, like ‘where is he?’, then they drop and then it creates a lot of space in front of the back four – it’s really clever.” Watch the clip below:

Rooney’s analysis has split opinion. Some football fans expressed their disbelief, with one commenting on X (Twitter): “Yeah, Wayne Rooney probably doesn’t know what he’s talking about.”

Another said: “I nearly volleyed my tele listening to this,” while a third added:

“Haha. That goal was all because of the genius of Ronaldo standing still in the box.”

A fourth fan said: “Who is he kidding? Ronaldo was a joke.”

However, others felt that Rooney made a salient point. One person commented: “Someone needs to state facts while the clowns are pushing their agendas, glad it’s Wazza!”

Another wrote: “Because Rooney understands football, unlike 99.99% of football fans,” while someone else commented:

”He’s spot on? Nothing wrong with any of this.”

Ronaldo will be desperate to silence his critics when Portugal face Uzbekistan in their second Group K match on June 23. Their final group stage match is against Colombia four days later.

Man Utd Want Aurelien Tchouameni Amid Mateus Fernandes Hijack

Published

Manchester United’s efforts to improve their midfield ranks may have hit a stumbling block, as Mundo Deportivo reports that a transfer hijack from Real Madrid and former boss Jose Mourinho could force the team to change course.

It comes as talks have ramped up over new potential midfield additions, with the Red Devils keen on adding some quality in possession heading into next season.

Several targets have been on the cards, with a deal already agreed to sign Ederson from Atalanta as just the first addition of a few expected in the middle of the park.

The next arrival is unclear as things stand, but Man United have been locked in talks to sign Mateus Fernandes, a target who is now the subject of interest from Real Madrid.

Man United Transfer Domino Effect

According to the report from Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid are set to push for a deal to sign Fernandes from West Ham this summer, with Mourinho keen to land the Portuguese international.

It comes as a potential hijacking of a deal that Man United have been attempting to complete for the past few weeks, with talks held in an attempt to secure the midfielder.

Real Madrid’s inclusion could make for a tough negotiating period ahead, especially when it comes to convincing the player in the coming weeks.

However, there is a knock-on effect, as the report adds that Aurelien Tchouameni is likely to leave if Fernandes is signed by Los Blancos this summer.

That could open a pathway where Man United miss out on one target, but land another as a result, with the Red Devils poised and ready to strike into action.

The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a move for Tchouameni, and a deal could now become available for the star, but at a considerable price.

The report claims that a “substantial offer” will be needed for Man United to land the Frenchman, with those funds likely to help the side pursue other moves in the transfer market.

Tchouameni Would Be An Upgrade For Man United

Fernandes is clearly a player with plenty of potential, but with two Premier League relegations in consecutive seasons, it’s understandable why teams may be reluctant to pay such a big price tag for him.

With Real Madrid making a move, it could prevent Man United from making a mistake in landing him, and offers a chance to land an upgrade in Tchouameni.

World Cup Fans Drop Strong Verdict on Cristiano Ronaldo During Portugal 1-1 DR Congo

Fans have given an instant reaction to Ronaldo’s performance.

The midfielder has been described as “the best DM in the world”, and for good reason too. The 26-year-old has nearly 200 appearances for Real Madrid, which is no small feat, while he is a regular for France on the international stage.

Adding someone approaching the peak of their career who has been at the highest level with even more to come sounds like an ideal move for Man United.

Thomas Tuchel ‘Begs’ FIFA to Make Change After England 4-2 Croatia

Published

Thomas Tuchel has called on FIFA to implement an immediate change following England’s 4-2 win over Croatia on Wednesday night.

The Three Lions began their 2026 World Cup campaign in impressive fashion at the Dallas Stadium in Texas.

Harry Kane gave England the lead in the 12th minute from the penalty spot. Martin Baturina equalised with a stunning strike 10 minutes before half-time before Kane netted his second of the match.

Tuchel’s men were dealt a blow moments before the interval when Petar Musa made it 2-2, much to the frustration of England’s coaching staff.

“A complicated and confusing first half from us, really,” England assistant coach Anthony Barry said during a frank half-time interview with ITV. “I think a lot of nervous energy early on. Maybe that should be accepted, and maybe expected in the opening game of a World Cup.

“From there, then we made some decisions where the energy was not free in our mind, playing long when we should play short, playing short when we should play long, really not playing through the gaps so not allowing us to accelerate our game the way we wanted to.

“Then you think the penalty would free us up, allow us to play more like us, look more like ourselves, but again we fall back into some fearful patterns, and yeah… we’ve always been able to rely on set pieces.

“We get the second goal again. We’re hoping that’s the moment that would allow us to move forward in the game, but okay, we concede the second goal later on, and now we have to speak about that at half-time.”

England Produce Excellent Second-Half Display

Whatever Tuchel and his coaching staff said during the break clearly had the desired effect. England were the superior side in the second half and won the game thanks to excellent goals from Jude Bellingham and substitute Marcus Rashford.

“I thought it was a game of two halves. In the first half, we were OK,” Harry Kane told ITV after the match. “[We were] really disappointed to concede in the way we did. I thought we dropped off.

“Credit to the manager, he gave us a speech at half-time and said if we lose, we lose in our way, and I think we saw that in the way we came out in the second half.

“We went full gas and they couldn’t live with it. Credit to everyone for the first game of the tournament.”

While Tuchel was pleased with his side’s second-half display, he was far less happy with a pre-match incident involving the photographers.

The German tactician said his experience was “ruined a little bit” by a wall of photographers who obstructed his view of the national anthems and has called on world football’s governing body to sort the situation out for next time.

“I have to tell you something. I’m begging FIFA to change the position of the photographers in the national anthem, because I could not see my team,” Tuchel was quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

“It was a very special moment today, and I was standing in front of a wall of 50 photographers and I could not see one single player. It ruined a little bit my experience today.”

The England boss added: “It is very emotional. Listen, when I was young, and even when I started coaching, this was too big to dream of, to have this kind of a career.

“I felt the spirit, and what it means to be part of a World Cup. It’s just amazing, and I felt very, very alive the last two days. I didn’t want to be anywhere else in the world than here.”

Tuchel has not sung God Save The King – England’s national anthem – since he was appointed England manager in January 2025.

He initially said that he must “earn the right” to sing it, but has hinted that he will do so if England reach the 2026 World Cup final on July 19.
