Cesc Fabregas ‘Disliked’ John Terry and Frank Lampard
Cesc Fabregas was a lovely player to watch during his trophy-filled career, in which he starred in La Liga and the Premier League. Despite being a composed midfield maestro, the Spaniard’s passionate side did lead to confrontations with two English icons.
The 38-year-old is now among the most exciting young managers in world football after retiring as one of the greatest midfielders in Premier League history. He’s highly-regarded in the sport, but his more aggressive side led to an 11-year feud with another top-flight icon.
Fabregas has also admitted that he ‘disliked’ another top Three Lions player for years before eventually becoming his teammate. It’s fair to say the World Cup winner knew how to hold a grudge.
Cesc Fabregas Didn’t Like John Terry Before Playing With Him
Fabregas went to war with John Terry’s Chelsea many times on the pitch when he was an Arsenal player. The pair clashed several times before then becoming teammates at Stamford Bridge years later.
In an interview with Sky Sports in 2017, when Terry was departing Chelsea after winning the Premier League in the same team as Fabregas, the world-class midfielder admitted he had an intense dislike for him:
“He is the type of player that I had many battles with. I disliked him very much at some point playing for Arsenal, we had a lot of confrontations, but one thing I always had for him was respect.”
Despite being London rivals for such a long time and Fabregas’ admitted dislike for the Blues’ captain, the Spaniard claimed he always had respect for the English stalwart.
Speaking about Terry’s exit from Chelsea, he added: “He showed to be before a great man and then a great player. He showed he will always be a great captain for this team and I have to tell him a big, big, big thanks.”
Fabregas’ 11-Year Feud With Frank Lampard
A heated confrontation between Chelsea and Arsenal in the 2007 League Cup final sparked animosity between Fabregas and Frank Lampard that would last over a decade. The pair eventually made up following Lampard’s retirement, in a Russian gym, bizarrely.
Speaking to The Telegraph in 2020, Fabregas confirmed that the collision in the cup final, which saw the two men pulled apart by teammates, was the reason behind the animosity. He claimed:
“It’s completely true [that we fell out], we don’t have to hide anything. I think he will tell you the same thing.
“We have had many, many battles during the years and we kind of disliked each other on the football pitch because he wanted to play and win for Chelsea and I wanted to win for Arsenal.”
“The League Cup final was kind of crazy. We were losing 2-1 and it was basically the last moment of the game and you feel a little frustrated. [John Obi] Mikel and Kolo Toure went into a tackle and both got sent off. Me and Frank had a moment there,” he elaborated.
The bad blood between the two midfielders was cited as the reason behind Lampard being allowed to leave Chelsea in 2014. Fabregas was on the west London club’s radar and eventually signed from Barcelona that summer.
‘All Day Long’ – Frank Lampard Named His ‘Hardest’ Teammate of All Time
The former England and Chelsea midfielder did not hesitate with his answer.
Lampard had been let go at the end of the previous season and the England legend was convinced it was due to the Spanish maestro’s arrival. Per The Sun, the now 47-year-old claimed:
“We never played together! They let me go to get Cesc in.
“Me and Cesc never really got on well on the pitch so they didn’t think we could share a dressing room.”

Conor McGregor Stars in Truly Bizarre Advert Just Days Before Return
Two-time UFC champion Conor McGregor has reminded his followers and the MMA world that he will be back in the Octagon next weekend after posting a peculiar video on his social media accounts.
The Irishman will end his five-year hiatus from professional fighting on the 11th of July when he takes on Max Holloway for a second time at UFC 329 in Las Vegas.
McGregor’s last appearance in the Octagon saw him stopped for a second consecutive time against Dustin Poirier, leaving him at 1-2 in his trilogy with the American.
Following this opening round stoppage defeat, McGregor spent time on the sidelines with a broken lower tibia and was only scheduled to return to the Octagon in the summer of 2023 against Michael Chandler at UFC 303.
However, the proposed fight with Chandler fell through a fortnight prior to the event due to the Irish star suffering a toe injury.
Conor McGregor Shows Off His Current Physique Just Two Weeks Away From Return at UFC 329
Notorious is set to return to the Octagon in July to fight Max Holloway for a second time.
The former featherweight and lightweight champion’s comeback was delayed further in 2025 after he failed to mention his whereabouts for biological sample collections on three occasions in the year prior. The 18-month ban he was handed for violating the UFC’s anti-doping policy ended in April this year.
His second meeting with Holloway next weekend will be held at welterweight, with the first encounter from 13 years ago having been a featherweight encounter. The 2013 bout saw McGregor take care of business against the American by securing a unanimous decision victory.
Conor McGregor’s Advert Before UFC 329
In an attempt to generate hype ahead of his imminent return to the Octagon, the 37-year-old has put up an interesting post on his official social accounts ahead of fight week.
The black and white video, captioned: ‘Against All Odds. July 11th’ depicts the two-time UFC champion excessively washing his face with water over a sink before looking directly into a mirror and stating, “You talking to me? We’re together, me and you,” before washing his face more.
‘I Have Fought Both Conor McGregor and Max Holloway – Here’s Who Wins UFC 329 Rematch’
Dustin Poirier has actually fought both of them THREE times, and he’s given his prediction for the rematch.
The bizarre video then continues as McGregor keeps his eyes locked on the mirror as he shouts: “You’re talking to me. You doubt me. After all we’ve been through!”
The post, made in partnership with Polymarket, then abruptly ends as the video’s tagline of ‘Against All Odds’ is displayed across the screen.
Evidently, McGregor is keen to silence those who remain sceptical about his return to MMA action and doubt whether he is still a big draw in the Octagon after half a decade away.
While next Saturday night’s showdown at T-Mobila Arena is going to be a major moment for McGregor, it will also be an important outing for Holloway. The American is hoping to return to winning ways after being defeated by Brazil’s Charles Oliveira in a lightweight contest earlier this year, which meant he lost his “BMF” belt.

It’s back to the drawing board for the Red Devils, who stood firm in the fact that they didn’t want to overpay for the Portuguese midfielder.

Tottenham Expect Another Signing
According to a report from the BBC, it’s not just Fernandes who could be making the move to Tottenham in the summer transfer window.
It’s claimed that Spurs are advancing in their efforts to sign Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali, and they are growing in confidence that they can secure his signature.
That is despite Tottenham facing competition for his signature, with reports suggesting that Manchester City would match their contract offer for the Italian midfielder.
Spurs have already reportedly agreed personal terms with the Newcastle man, and it’s just about agreeing a fee with the North East club.
It appears that Tottenham are still in the market for Tonali despite already securing a midfielder in Fernandes, as they look to overhaul their squad in the summer transfer window.

Double midfield signing could lead to exits
Strengthening in the middle of the park is a huge priority for Tottenham in the summer transfer window, but it is likely to lead to players leaving the club.
If Fernandes and Tonali, described as ‘elite’ players, both arrive and are set to become guaranteed starters, that puts Spurs in a tricky position with some of their other players.
The likes of Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Rodrigo Bentancur, among others, could find it difficult to break into the side.
Bergvall has already informed Tottenham that he wishes to leave the club as he searches for a new opportunity, knowing that Spurs are pushing to bring in new midfielders.
