Drew McIntyre and CM Punk ‘Refuse to Talk to One Another’ When They’re Not Working Together

Published

on

Two of WWE’s biggest names may be capable of producing magic between the ropes, but it appears their working relationship ends there.

Professional wrestling has long thrived on rivalries that blur the line between storyline and reality. From Bret Hart vs Shawn Michaels to modern-day feuds that spill across social media, genuine tension has often helped elevate matches into something unforgettable.

In the case of two prominent WWE Superstars, however, it seems the bad blood could extend beyond scripted television.

According to recent comments, the pair rarely speak unless it’s directly related to business, despite sharing one of the most compelling rivalries in recent memory.

While that may sound unusual, it is far from unheard of in WWE. Many legendary feuds have involved performers who were not particularly close behind the scenes, yet still managed to produce incredible chemistry in the ring. Edge and Matt Hardy are the prime example.

The 2 WWE Superstars That Refuse to Talk to Each Other

The two Superstars in question are Drew McIntyre and CM Punk, whose rivalry became one of WWE’s defining storylines over the past year.

Their feud stretched across multiple Premium Live Events and featured several brutal encounters, culminating in a trilogy of matches that captivated fans throughout 2024.

At various points, the storyline leaned heavily into the real-life tension between the pair. McIntyre frequently targeted Punk in promos and even mocked him following injuries during their feud.

Drew explained: “Unlimited material to work with, because he’s a gift. He keeps on giving because he’s such a horrible, horrible human being. When he came back, I prodded him for a reason, because I wanted the real CM Punk to come back.”

Despite the intensity on screen, it appears the two keep things strictly professional backstage.

Speaking about their relationship, the Scottish star admitted that they do not interact much beyond what is necessary to plan their matches.

“That’s what made it work, and I guess made it compelling TV, is we genuinely don’t like each other. People can feel that, but at the same time, we’re two of the top players in the industry, and we can take that real-life motivation, which is genuine, not even method acting, it’s just truth, and put it into the performance.

“And people are like, ‘Wow, this feels real!’ And the reason it feels real is because it is real.

“Being around each other, at shows, if we’re not actually wrestling each other, it’s fine because we don’t talk to each other. I would love for him to talk, and I’d love for him to push my buttons, because I just stomp his stupid a**.”

While they are capable of collaborating creatively when required, any conversation tends to revolve solely around their work. In other words, the rivalry may be business inside the ring, but friendship outside of it is not part of the equation.

For fans, that dynamic may help explain why the feud felt so authentic.

McIntyre and Punk’s programme stood out partly because it felt personal, something professional wrestling has often relied upon to draw audiences in. Even if the performers are not close behind the scenes, their ability to channel that tension into compelling television is exactly what WWE aims for.

As wrestling history has shown time and time again, you do not have to like your opponent to create something memorable. In fact, sometimes it helps.

Drew McIntyre and CM Punk may not be on speaking terms outside of business, but as long as that tension continues to produce unforgettable moments inside the ring, WWE fans are unlikely to complain.

Spurs Ready to Pay ‘One of the Best Players in the World’ Mega Salary

Published

Tottenham are reportedly willing to pay a huge wage to sign an in-form Premier League forward who is available for transfer this summer. Spurs are in the midst of perhaps the strongest recruitment drive we have seen at the club since the period after Gareth Bale’s mega-move to Real Madrid.

Roberto De Zerbi is being handed a big transfer fund after keeping the North London side in the Premier League, and four new signings have already been snapped up in Martin Dubravka, Jan Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson.

Spurs are expecting to be challenging for Europe again next season, and they know they need top-end talent to manage it.

Rashford salary could be matched

One of the latest Tottenham transfer links involved returning Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, who spent last season on loan with Barcelona. Rashford helped the Blaugrana win the LaLiga title with 14 goals and 14 assists across all competitions, and his performances saw him win back his England squad spot for the World Cup, where he has already scored.

Rashford does not appear to be wanted back at Old Trafford, even after a managerial change last season, although the decision appears to be, at least in part, financial.

It has been claimed by The Sun that Rashford’s contract has a clause that will see it rise to £325,000 per week from July 1, and having already enjoyed a strong season without the forward, United are keen to offload the sizable wage.

According to the same report, Tottenham are willing to meet Rashford’s wage demands and take on the sizable pay packet, although much could come down to how much United ask for in the way of a transfer fee.

A discounted deal is never likely for a Premier League rival, but given United want to offload Rashford’s wage, there could be some wiggle room.

Rashford returned to form with Barcelona

Rashford has shown his talent plenty of times in the past, and United heavily relied on the forward for a long period of time. Back in 2023, Mike McGrath described Rashford as one of the best in the world, writing for BBC Sport: “On the current form, with Rashford being as good as he is and one of the best players in the world, we can win the Europa League,” he said.

Things took a turn for the worse the following season when Rashford became one of a number of players to fall out with then boss Erik ten Hag. A loan spell at Aston Villa followed, but it is at Barcelona where he would rediscover his form.

With goals and assists aplenty, 14 of each, Rashford was a key part of an already ultra-talented Barca attack, and there is now belief he could be back to his best, and still only 28 years of age, there is plenty of gas still left in the tank.

Man Utd Send Official to Watch £68m World Cup Star

Manchester United sent a representative to the FIFA World Cup to watch Uruguay left-back Maxi Araujo, according to Portuguese outlet Record.

Araujo has been a standout performer since the tournament began, putting in eye-catching displays for the South Americans. He has featured twice, scoring two goals and providing one assist.

The United official picked a good game to watch the 26-year-old in action as they attended Uruguay’s 2-2 draw against Cape Verde. Araujo got himself on the scoresheet and also set up Agustin Canobbio during an entertaining affair at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

Man Utd Interest in Uruguay’s Araujo Grows

The report claims that United have been tracking Araujo throughout the 2025-26 campaign and have stepped up their interest. The scouting report from Uruguay’s draw against Cape Verde indicates the club’s admiration has grown.

Araujo is a versatile left-sided player who can play at full-back and on the wing. He made 47 appearances across competitions for Sporting CP last season, chipping in with seven goals and six assists.

United are thought to be keen on adding a new left-back to Michael Carrick’s squad to hand competition to Luke Shaw. Tyrell Malacia left following the expiration of his contract, and Shaw has nobody challenging him for a starting berth.

Carrick might also be enticed by Araujo’s versatility, given that he previously hinted that he wants a left-winger this summer. With Shaw now in his thirties, there is a need to start thinking about a long-term replacement.

How Much Sporting Want For Araujo

If United decide to make a concrete move for Araujo, they could be looking at paying around £51million for the Uruguayan. The report claims that Sporting are prepared to do business around that fee despite the inclusion of a £68million release clause in his contract.

Araujo, dubbed “explosive,” could yet extend his stay at José Alvalade Stadium, as the Portuguese giants reportedly have a plan. Once the World Cup concludes, they plan to hold talks with the player’s entourage about a new deal that would move him closer to the higher end of the club’s wage structure.

The Montevideo-born left-back has three years left on his current contract. He’s been with the club since the summer of 2024, when he arrived from Mexican outfit Toluca.

United also have Lewis Hall on their radar, and he reportedly is open to joining the Red Devils. The issue is that Newcastle United are reluctant to sell the Englishman, which could mean INEOS turn to Araujo as an alternative.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s 2026 World Cup Power Rankings

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been making headlines ever since the start of the 2026 World Cup due to his entertaining and cutting punditry for FOX Sports. Now, the legendary striker has ranked the best performers this summer based on their individual performances.

The Swede didn’t have too much luck when it came to the biggest international stage, failing to find the net in either of his two World Cups. However, he’s still a revered figure in the game, with his opinion holding a lot of weight among players and fans.

World Cup: ‘Real Reason’ Behind Alexi Lalas and Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s ‘Hatred’ Leaked

The dynamic between Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alexi Lalas has been a major talking point at the World Cup… and things are ‘awkward’ between the pair.

As part of his role on FOX, Ibrahimovic has a regular segment called ‘King of the Jungle’. This is where he will regularly make changes to his top nine performers at the World Cup.

While actually tasked with giving his 10 best players at the United States, Canada and Mexico-hosted tournament, Zlatan has placed himself in the top spot permanently. So, ignoring that, Lionel Messi has been the star of the World Cup.

That’s reflected in Ibrahimovic’s rankings, as he’s rewarded the greatest footballer of all time’s performances with the top spot among active players. Messi netted a sensational hat-trick in Argentina’s opening game, before adding a brace against Austria.

Kylian Mbappe (2nd) and Erling Haaland (3rd) are two of the best strikers in world football. They are also Messi’s closest rivals in the Golden Boot race this summer, having netted four goals for France and Norway, respectively.

2026 World Cup Golden Boot: 17 Top Goalscorers Predicted By AI

Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane are all expected to finish among the top goalscorers in this summer’s tournament.

Real Madrid and Brazil star Vinicius Junior has equalled that goal tally after finding the net in all three of his nation’s group games. He’s also provided a single assist, cementing himself as Carlo Ancelotti’s talisman and Ibrahimovic’s fourth-best player.

Lamine Yamal proved he’s Spain’s most important player with his performance and goal against Saudi Arabia after La Roja struggled without him starting in the opening game. The best young player on the planet has been better than sixth-placed England hero Harry Kane, who has two goals so far.

Michael Olise may not have found the net yet for France, but he’s still been impressive for Les Bleus. The ex-Premier League winger has set up three goals already, and looks a strong contender for the Playmaker Award.

Elsewhere, Cristiano Ronaldo has now made his way into Ibrahimovic’s rankings after missing out the week before. Portugal’s thrashing of Uzbekistan saw CR7 announce he’s ‘back’ following a two-goal cameo. That puzzled Ibra, who ‘thought he never left’.

But the Manchester United and Real Madrid icon can’t force his way past one of the surprise packages of the competition so far. Deniz Undav hasn’t started any of Germany’s games, but has still picked up three goals and two assists. Undav is eighth, one place above Ronaldo.
