2027: Don’t purchase APC nomination forms outside governor’s directive – Emegha
Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ebonyi State, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, has warned registered members of the party seeking elective positions in the state to obtain the governor’s permission before purchasing nomination forms.
Chief Emegha gave the advice on Monday in Afikpo during the inauguration of the Ebonyi South Senatorial Zone chapter of Grassroots Advocacy for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, GATFON.
He stated that any aspirant who purchases nomination forms without the governor’s directive will be wasting their effort and resources.
Emegha, who described Governor Nwifuru as a fair-minded leader, disclosed that he (the governor) is committed to ensuring justice and fairness in all constituencies of the state.
He therefore enjoined aspirants not to be carried away by social media hype and sponsored endorsements, stressing that the governor and the party would ensure that the right thing is done when the time comes.
“Let me use this opportunity to advise all of us, especially those seeking elective positions, to seek the governor’s counsel before going to purchase nomination forms, because anything outside the governor’s directive is a waste of resources.
“I feel I should give you this advice because very soon APC will start selling forms. Don’t buy any form without the Governor’s directive. Any money you pay to the party is non-refundable. I don’t want anyone to come to me saying, ‘Please help me recover my money.’ I advise you to wait for the Governor’s directive. He knows all of us, and he is committed to ensuring justice in all the constituencies,” he said.
Emegha commended GATFON for its resilience and commitment to promoting good governance, noting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru have done well for the people of the state and deserve to be re-elected for second terms in office.
He pledged to continue supporting the group to actualize its objectives.
Earlier, the Ebonyi State Coordinator of GATFON, Barr. Patrick Anayo Mbam, in his remarks, said the association was formed to promote the policies and achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, and to mobilize the grassroots towards their re-election in 2027.
He charged the local government coordinators in the zone to take the re-election message of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Francis Nwifuru to all the wards in the zone.
Speaking on behalf of the local government coordinators, GATFON Coordinator in Edda Local Government Area, Barr. Dick Agwu Dike, assured Chief Emegha, who is the State Patron of the association, that they would work hard to ensure the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Francis Nwifuru, and all APC candidates from the zone in 2027.

2027: ‘Victory will be ours’ – Gov Otti warns against internal crisis in Labour Party
Abia State Governor and national leader of the Labour Party, LP, Alex Otti, has called on all elected candidates of the party to work together, insisting that it is by doing so that the party will come out victorious in the 2027 general elections.
Otti, represented by the Deputy Governor, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, made the call during the party’s National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting in Abuja on Thursday.
He hailed members of the party for the maturity they displayed throughout the primaries, adding that it is a testament to the growing strength and stability of the LP.
According to Otti, Nigerians are looking to the Labor Party for credible leadership, progressive governance and practical solutions to challenges facing the nation.
He said, “As we move forward, I strongly urge every successful candidate to immediately reach out to fellow aspirants and their supporters.
“Elections within the party should never create permanent divisions. The contest is over. The assignment has just begun. We must bring everyone to the table and harness the strength, experience, and networks of all those who participated in the process.
“I also encourage our candidates to work in close synergy with their constituents, federal constituencies, and senatorial districts. No candidates can achieve optimal success in isolation. We must run coordinated campaigns, share resources, mobilize our supporters collectively, and speak with one voice on issues that matter to our people.
“The 2027 general elections will not be won by individuals; they will be won by a united party, a disciplined structure, and a shared commitment to the aspiration of Nigerians, we must therefore put aside personal interest and focus on the bigger objectives of expanding the Labor Party’s presence in every level of governance.
“Our opponents will seek to exploit divisions among us. We must not give them the opportunity. Instead, let us present a united front, deepen our grassroots engagement, and continue to earn the trust of Nigerian people through our conduct, our message, and our performance.
“As leaders of this great movement, we have a historic responsibility to build a stronger Labor Party and offer Nigerians a credible alternative founded on competence, integrity, and service. I am confident that if we remain united, focused, and committed on our shared vision, victory will be ours in 2027.”

Tinubu does not have to resign, let Nigerians decide at the polls – APC chieftain, Aliyu
A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Farouk Aliyu, has said that President Bola Tinubu does not have to resign.
Featuring in an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Morning Show’ on Thursday, Aliyu said, ‘let Nigerians decide Tinubu’s fate at the polls come 2027’.
He was reacting to the call by the opposition asking Tinubu to resign, adding that it was a normal thing for the opposition to do so.
“The President does not have to resign. Nigerians should decide at the polls. Actually, the work of the opposition is exactly what they are doing, so I guess they are doing well by asking the president to throw in the towel.
“We used to be in opposition, and we have called on former presidents when we were in the opposition for them to resign as well.
“So it’s part of what they should do, and we like it by them calling on the president to resign, but then the decision will ultimately be with the people of this country.
“Agreed, there are economic, security, and other challenges, but we are doing our best to ensure these things don’t continue,” he said.

2027 Presidency: Labour Party ratifies Chibuzo Okereke’s candidacy
The Labour Party has ratified Chibuzo Okereke as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
Recall that the Labour Party formally picked Okereke as its presidential candidate following a broad-based consensus among party members and stakeholders, which was affirmed in Abuja on 30th May, 2026.
Speaking during his ratification, Okereke asked Nigerians to believe again, stating that politics should not be the purpose of government, but instead governance should be the real purpose of government.
He said that leadership must focus on developing Nigerians, securing Nigerians, expanding socio-economic opportunities, restoring the dignity of the people, building trust among citizens, and investing in the Sustainable Development Goals.
“We are convinced that when Nigerians prosper, Nigeria prospers,” he said, adding that “the people and governance must be made the front burner before politics.”
Speaking further, Chibuzo said that no Nigerian citizen should live as though there is no government
“Nigeria suffers not only from economic, security, and institutional challenges but also from a crisis of confidence.
“The truth is that millions of Nigerians no longer believe in the promise of this land. Millions no longer believe that government can work, institutions can be trusted, merit can prevail
“For too long, governance has focused on Nigeria as an abstract entity, classically described by the late political sage as a mere geographical expression, while neglecting the Nigerians whose lives give meaning to the nation.
“Our nation’s greatest asset is not its oil, land, minerals, or government buildings. Our greatest asset is our people and our population. The Nnigerian government and democracy must therefore deliver happiness to the people of Nigeria wherever they may be. Under our Presidency, this will be delivered.
“Nation-building through responsible government is not rocket science. When citizens are educated, healthy, secure, productive, and empowered, the nation prospers. Similarly, when citizens are neglected, divided, and excluded, the nation weakens.
“Our country is going through one of the most difficult periods since the return to democratic rule in 1999. Across the federation today, millions of citizens are burdened by rising costs of living, insecurity, high infant and maternal mortality, unemployment, declining purchasing power, infrastructure financing gaps, power and energy deficiencies, growing numbers of out-of-school children, struggling businesses and families, and declining public trust in government institutions.
“These are real problems, but they also present real opportunities for innovative solutions and investments.”
