Ebonyi ADC ratifies suspension of Silas Onu over anti-party activities
The Ebonyi State Executive Committee of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has ratified the suspension of Barrister Silas Onu, who was earlier suspended from his Obiozara Ward over alleged anti-party activities, gross misconduct, falsification of party structures, and a breach of the party’s constitution and Electoral Act.
The letter of his suspension was read by the Secretary of the party, Comrade Chukwudi Mgboroko, during the State Executive Committee meeting held at the party’s secretariat along the old Abakaliki-Enugu Road.
He explained that the three-month suspension of Onu was based on his actions, emphasising that they were capable of bringing the party into disrepute and destabilising it.
The letter read in part: “Your actions caused significant commotion and brought the Ebonyi State ADC into disrepute at the national level. You have been seen at public events, in newspapers, and on social media, parading yourself as the elected chairman of ADC Ebonyi State, unknown to the party.
“In reality, the ward leaders of ADC, Obiozara Ward, have never met you before. You do not have any physical party card signed by the ward chairman and secretary. You took advantage of the online registration to perpetrate your deception of the public,” the Secretary said.
After careful deliberation on the letter during the meeting by SEC members, a motion to ratify Onu’s suspension was moved by the Ebonyi State ADC Coordinator, Electoral Matters/INEC Liaison, Bassey Imoke-Edogi, and seconded by the State Auditor, Vincent Eze, after which it was unanimously adopted by the members.
He said, “I want to move that the suspension from Obiozara Ward in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State on the said Silas Onu be upheld and ratified today, April 25, 2026.”
Speaking also, the Chairman of the Ebonyi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dr. Mrs. Jennifer Adibe-Nwafor, said members were expected to conduct themselves in a manner that promotes the integrity and collective interest of the party.
According to the chairman, the party finds the conduct of Onu to be a clear violation of the Constitution of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and detrimental to party unity, discipline, and orderly administration.
She said, “The said suspension was duly reviewed and ratified by the Ohaozara Local Government Area and, after careful consideration and the ratification by the State Working Committee, where a motion was moved, seconded, and unanimously affirmed, we find your conduct to be in clear violation of the Constitution of the African Democratic Congress and detrimental to party unity, discipline, and orderly administration.”
Dr. Adibe-Nwafor went ahead to disclose that Silas Onu has been barred from participating in the party’s activities and should desist forthwith from parading himself as an official or representative of the party.
“The effect of this suspension is that you are hereby suspended from all activities of the party at the ward, local government, state, and national levels.
“You are hereby prohibited from holding or parading yourself as an official or representative of the party in any capacity. You are hereby barred from attending meetings, congresses, conventions, or any official gatherings of the party.
She added that the suspension, which will last for three months, remains in force pending further review and the outcome of the disciplinary committee proceedings.
“You are hereby denied all your rights and privileges as a member of the party for the duration of this suspension. This suspension shall remain in force for a period of three months pending further review and the outcome of the ongoing and subsequent disciplinary committee proceedings in line with the party constitution,” she stated.
The chairman further disclosed that ahead of the party primaries, members have declared interest in contesting various elective positions, including the governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives, and State Assembly seats.

2027: Peter Obi not loss to ADC, he’s having fun in NDC – Atiku’s aide
Special Assistant to the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, says the exit of former Anambra state governor, Peter Obi, from the ADC was never a loss to the party.
Speaking during an interview on Trust TV on Sunday, Shaibu said Obi was having fun in the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC.
He was speaking on the exit of Obi from the ADC early last month.
Recall that Obi and former presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, Rabi’u Kwankwaso, dumped the ADC for the NDC, citing internal divisions and court cases.
Airing his own opinion, Atiku’s aide said, “I don’t see Peter Obi’s exit as a loss to the ADC. Peter has found a haven in the NDC or wherever he is. He’s simply having fun there.
“Let me tell you something. In that place, they have what we call the office of the Supreme Leader.
“That’s the only party in Nigeria where I have not seen the party officials. I’ve never heard the party chairman. I’ve never heard of the party secretary. I only hear from their Supreme Leader.”

Exactly two months after the endorsement of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus candidate for the 2027 Ogun State governorship election, the party has announced Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun as its deputy governorship candidate.
The announcement was made on Sunday by Governor Dapo Abiodun at an emergency APC Strategic Caucus meeting held at the party’s secretariat in Abeokuta.Governor Abiodun stated that the decision was reached after several consultations with party leaders and stakeholders in the state.
He noted that the party considered gender balance and religious tolerance in selecting her from Ososa town in Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun East Senatorial District. The governor said, “If the government is coming from the West, we felt that for equity and fairness, the deputy governor should come from the East. So, we sat and looked across the local governments in Ogun East and consulted widely within that constituency.“Yes, we’ve accepted. But until this august body ratifies that, we cannot consider it as something that has been formally accepted by the party and the state. So, we thought we must bring, in the same fashion that we brought the governorship candidate here…
“So today, it gives me great pleasure to announce to us who our deputy governor will be by the grace of God. today, we have among us Mrs Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun and, by the grace of God, Mrs Manobu will be our deputy governor.”In his remarks, the governorship candidate, Solomon Adeola, thanked the governor for the strategy deployed in the selection of various candidates for the 2027 election.Adeola disclosed that a total of 17 aspirants indicated interest in becoming the deputy governorship candidate and that all were qualified to represent the state, but one person had to emerge, hence the decision. He added that she is the daughter of the Asiwaju of Ijebuland and business mogul, Sulaiman Adegunwa. In her acceptance speech, Adegunwa-Balogun appreciated the state governor, party leaders and the governorship candidate for the trust and opportunity to serve.
Mrs Adegunwa-Balogun maintained that she does not take the support for granted but rather sees the nomination as a call to duty and a privilege to serve.Earlier in his welcome address, the Ogun APC Chairman, Yemi Sanusi, appreciated the state governor for his wisdom and congratulated all candidates who emerged victorious in the primary election. He noted that the primary election process was not yet completed, hence the purpose of the meeting. Our correspondent observed that while the state Deputy Governor, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, was absent, Iziaq Salako, the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare; the Director-General of the National Sports Commission and former two-term commissioner in Ogun State, Bukola Olopade; the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Oludaisi Elemide; the Secretary to the State Government (SSG); and members of the Governor’s Elders Advisory Council (GEAC), among others, were present at the meeting.

Amaechi lied, he couldn’t vote for Buhari in 2015 because of Wike – Oshiomhole
Contrary to claims by former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, that he made the late Muhammadu Buhari president, the lawmaker representing Edo North Senatorial District, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has said Amaechi did not even vote for Buhari in 2015.
Oshiomhole, who spoke on Sunday in an interview on The Mic On Podcast, said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain could not vote because he was “overwhelmed” by the former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.
According to the lawmaker, Amaechi, who served as the Director-General of Buhari’s campaign, instructed his supporters in Rivers State to boycott the election.
He said, “Amaechi lied that he made Buhari president. Amaechi was not able to vote for Buhari in 2015 because he unwisely directed the people of Rivers State to boycott the polls as he was overwhelmed by the forces of Wike.
“As Director-General of the campaign, he asked his people not to vote.”
Amaechi had, in an interview on Arise TV, claimed that it was he, and not Tinubu, who made Buhari president in 2015.
