Police seek relatives of elderly woman found wandering in Osun
The Osun State Police Command has urged members of the public to help identify the relatives of a 70-year-old woman found wandering in the state
The Command Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Monday.
Detailing the circumstances surrounding the incident, the statement said the elderly woman, identified as Shifawu Alabi, was found on April 24, 2026, and taken to the police by a Good Samaritan.
“On 24/04/2026, a Good Samaritan from Tiwadayo Street, Ofatedo brought to the police one elderly woman found wandering around the area,” the statement read.
“On interview, she gave her name as Shifawu Alabi ‘F’, aged about 70 years of Oja-Oba area, Ibadan. She could not give any satisfactory account of where she was going or coming from,” the statement added.
The police command appealed to members of the public to help identify her relatives.

Two suspected cultists wounded in gunfight with Police, 25 others arrested
Two suspected cultists have been wounded during an exchange of gunfire with Operatives of the Delta State Police Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit, VCRU.
Twenty-five suspected cultists were also arrested by the operatives, while others escaped the crime scene.
The suspects were arrested at their initiation ground in the early hours of June 16, DAILY POST reports.
The Police also recovered one (1) pump-action shotgun and one (1) cut-to-size firearm from the suspects.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, confirmed the report in a statement sent to Our Correspondent in Warri.
The Police Image maker said the suspects were allegedly linked to recent killings in Agbor Community in the State.
“Acting on credible intelligence in the early hours of 16 June 2026, operatives of the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) stormed a suspected cult initiation ground at Agbarho following intelligence that members of the Eiye Confraternity, allegedly linked to recent cult-related killings in Agbor, were planning further acts of violence and the initiation of new members.”
According to SP Edafe, “Upon arrival at the location, the operatives came under gunfire from some of the suspects. The police team responded professionally, during which two of the suspects sustained gunshot injuries.”
He explained that, “The operation resulted in the arrest of twenty-five (25) suspects, while several others fled the scene.
“Exhibits recovered during the operation include one (1) pump-action shotgun and one (1) cut-to-size firearm.”
SP Edafe noted that, “The injured suspects are receiving medical treatment.”
He also said, “Investigation is ongoing.”

Police arrest seven suspected cultists in Delta, recover gun, illicit drugs
Operatives of the Delta State Police Command’s Anti-Cult Unit, CACU, have arrested seven suspected cultists and recovered one double-barreled gun, two live cartridges and illicit drugs from them.
The suspects were arrested in a criminal hideout in Azagba-Ogwashi, on 14 June 2026, DAILY POST can report.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, confirmed the development in a statement in Warri.
Edafe said, “Operatives of the Command Anti-Cult Unit (CACU), acting on credible intelligence, raided a suspected criminal hideout in Azagba-Ogwashi, on 14 June 2026.
“The operation led to the arrest of seven (7) suspected cultists namely: Obore Ndubrisi (26), Okafor Okene (25), Odinigie Sunday (26), Okohur Destiny (21), Felix Abraham (25), Aputa Israel (27), and Okolie Chinonso Peter (24).”
According to SP Edafe, “Exhibits recovered from the suspects include one (1) double-barrel gun, two (2) live cartridges, quantities of substances suspected to be Indian hemp and Tramadol, as well as a walkie-talkie.
“The suspects and exhibits are currently in police custody while profiling and further investigations are ongoing.”

Police rescue kidnap victim, arrest suspect in Kebbi
The Kebbi State Police Command has rescued a kidnapped woman and arrested a suspect following a coordinated operation involving police operatives, vigilantes and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, JTF.
The Commissioner of Police, Umar Hadejia, disclosed this on Wednesday, while briefing journalists in Birnin Kebbi on recent security operations and achievements recorded by the command.
Hadejia said the victim, identified as Asmau Isah, was abducted during an attack on her residence in the Bayan Forestry area of Birnin Kebbi on June 10.
According to the commissioner, seven armed men invaded the residence, stole N220,000 and mobile phones before whisking the victim away to an unknown destination.
“Following a swift response by police operatives supported by vigilantes and members of the Civilian JTF, the victim was rescued unharmed and one suspect, Abubakar Siddi, was arrested,” he said.
Hadejia added that efforts were ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang involved in the abduction.
The commissioner reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state through intelligence-led operations and collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information to security agencies, assuring them that all reports would be treated with utmost confidentiality.
“The Kebbi Police Command remains fully committed to ensuring the safety and security of all law-abiding citizens across the state,” he said.
