Leeds Transfer Interest Revived For Free Agent Who Will Join On One Condition
Leeds United have revived their interest in Sporting CP midfielder Hidemasa Morita, according to the Daily Mail, but he will only make the move to Elland Road on one condition.
It comes as Daniel Farke and his side look to strengthen in the summer, though the main priority will be securing survival in the Premier League for another campaign.
While four points in the final four will cap off an impressive job done by the Leeds manager, who was under threat of losing his job earlier this season, there is a clear desire to push on.
Adding even more Premier League quality to the squad could cement The Whites as a comfortable top-tier outfit, with a few targets already on the radar, including Morita.
Leeds United eye move for Hidemasa Morita
Leeds are keen to bolster the competition in midfield this summer, and Sporting CP star Hidemasa Morita appears to be the first target on the club’s shortlist.
The report from the Daily Mail claims that Farke has revived interest in the Japan international, who was an option in the transfer market last summer, but he ultimately decided against the switch to Elland Road.
Morita, described as being ‘very complete’ by Ruben Amorim, has instead seen out the final year of his contract with Sporting, with the 30-year-old now set to become a free agent and available for clubs to sign without paying a transfer fee.
Leeds seem to be at the front of the queue, with the player ready to commit to a deal with the club, but only once they have confirmed their Premier League status.
There are favourable fixtures to come, as Burnley, Tottenham, Brighton, and West Ham await in the final four, which should be enough to seal survival.
Morita’s career has largely been spent in Portugal, where he has featured for Santa Clara, before he made the switch to Sporting. The experienced midfielder made his way through Kawasaki Frontale in Japan before his switch to Europe, where he has become a key player when available.
The 30-year-old has won two Portuguese titles and one Portuguese Cup during his time at Sporting, and looks set to sign off from the club with over 150 appearances.
Leeds United transfer plans and targets
While survival isn’t confirmed just yet, the Leeds recruitment team will almost certainly be looking ahead to the summer transfer window with Premier League planning in mind.
Plenty of areas could be reinforced to help bolster the quality available to Farke, including the back line, as the same report from the Daily Mail notes that Danilho Doekhi, who is set to leave Union Berlin as a free agent this summer, is another target.
The 27-year-old has been a regular for Union in the Bundesliga this season, starting every league game at centre-back, though that has also attracted interest from the likes of Borussia Dortmund.
Goalkeeper is another position Leeds are looking at, with links to Shakhtar Donetsk’s Dmytro Riznyk as an option, following a mixture of picking Karl Darlow and Lucas Perri between the sticks.
It remains to be seen who else could make their way to Elland Road, but it promises to be an interesting chance for Leeds to improve in the Premier League again.

Derek McInnes Wants Rangers Reunion With Lewis Ferguson
Rangers boss Derek McInnes is eyeing up another potential reunion in the summer transfer window, as TeamTalk reports of one target on the club’s radar this summer.
It comes after a raft of changes have already taken place at Ibrox, with Danny Rohl’s exit to RB Salzburg making way for a switch in the dugout.
In the end, Rangers approached Hearts to land McInnes, who reunited with striker Lawrence Shankland after he made a move to his boyhood club from The Jambos.
The rebuild continues for the Glaswegian side, and the next player on the radar could bring about another reunion with the manager.
Rangers Want Lewis Ferguson Deal
The midfield appears to be next on the agenda for Rangers, as Nicolas Raskin appears to be edging closer towards the exit door at Ibrox this summer.
A potential replacement on the cards appears to be Scotland star Lewis Ferguson, as TeamTalk reports of two potential deals between Rangers and Bologna this summer.
The report claims that the Serie A side are keen on landing Raskin, while a reunion between Ferguson and McInnes could be on the cards with a move in the other direction.
As things stand, Bologna aren’t keen to sell the 26-year-old, meaning that any discussion is unlikely to be a swap deal and talks will be centred on the moves being separate.
However, it’s claimed that Ferguson is keen to speak with the club about a potential switch, which would see him join the team he supported growing up.
Any deal for either midfielder in each direction will be dependent on talks in the coming weeks, which are likely to ramp up after the conclusion of the World Cup campaign for both stars.
It remains to be seen whether Rangers can land their man, in what would be a huge swoop for the side in bolstering the options available to McInnes.

Lewis Ferguson’s Record Under Derek McInnes
A move for Ferguson would be quite the coup for Rangers, adding a key Scotland star to the midfield ahead of the peak years of his career.
The 26-year-old is someone McInnes knows well, bringing him through at Aberdeen before he eventually made the switch to Bologna in Serie A.
Ferguson made 115 appearances for the head coach in their time together, scoring 20 goals and assisting 22 times to make himself an in-demand star.
Rangers Set to Make Offer to Sign ‘Exceptional’ Star as Portsmouth Ready Move
Rangers are ready to make a bid.
His 135 appearances for Bologna since, which have been accompanied by 15 goals and six assists, have resulted in him becoming an important player, even taking the armband on some occasions.
A move for the midfielder would represent value for a player who can bring some important leadership qualities with both the standards his sets, and the quality he possesses.
With a return to the top of the Scottish Premiership on their mind, the Rangers board would show a huge sign of faith in the new manager with such a move.

Bastian Schweinsteiger Sparks Outrage With Comments Ahead of Germany v Ivory Coast
Bastian Schweinsteiger has come under fire for comments he made ahead of Germany’s 2-1 victory over the Ivory Coast at the 2026 World Cup.
Germany were the favourites to win their match against the African side at Toronto Stadium. However, Ivory Coast led 1-0 with 25 minutes remaining courtesy of Franck Kessie’s opener.
Julian Nagelsmann sent on Deniz Undav in the hope that he could turn the game on its head, and that’s exactly what he did.
The 29-year-old levelled proceedings in the 68th minute before giving his side the victory when he netted his second in the fourth minute of stoppage-time.
Schweinsteiger, who is covering the tournament as pundit for the German public broadcaster ARD, sparked backlash with his comments ahead of the game.
Ahead of the match, Schweinsteiger praised Ivory Coast as he talked about how athletic they are. He then described the Elephants’ style of play as ‘African football’, adding that it was ‘sometimes unorthodox, a bit wild, and not quite as tactical.’
According to French publication L’Equipe, the word ‘wild’ has sparked outrage in Germany due to its racist and colonialist connotations .
Among those on social media that have slammed Schweinsteiger is X user Jonas Di Andrade, who said his comments were ‘disgusting’ and ‘revolting’, added that they ‘show remnants of an old European mindset that is definitely racist.’
Schweinsteiger has not yet spoken out amid the backlash, while he has also not been sanctioned by his employers, ARD.
He was very complimentary of Ivory Coast following the game, saying on X that they were, as expected, a ‘tough opponent and showed their technical quality and physicality.’

Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is also commentating on this summer’s World Cup for German TV. The 59-year-old was not impressed at all when he was asked about Schweinsteiger’s comments.
While the reporter was asking him to give his thoughts on the controversy, Klopp interrupted: “And now you want to carry on this subject. I have no chance. I have no chance to answer this question.
“Everybody likes it, so you bring me into this situation. It’s not my job that everyone likes it. But this is a serious subject. And I don’t even know what is appropriate to say.
“For African people it’s one thing. For other people it’s another thing. Thank god I thought nobody asked me about that. You found a moment.”
Klopp sarcastically added: “And surprisingly, you are German! That surprised me so much! Thank you very much,” before walking away.
Germany have already secured top spot in Group E. They play their third and final group match against Ecuador on Thursday, June 25. They will contest their last 32 match at Boston Stadium on Monday, June 29. Their opponents are not yet known.

Tottenham Now in Advanced Talks to Seal Mateus Fernandes Signing
Tottenham Hotspur are now in advanced talks to complete a club-record deal to sign West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandes, according to GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Ben Jacobs.
Even though they only avoided relegation to the Championship on the final day of the Premier League season, Tottenham are showing huge ambition in the transfer market.
Spurs have already announced four signings that offer huge Premier League experience in Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, Martin Dubravka and Jan Paul van Hecke for a combined fee of just over £50m, but now they are set to go one step further.
Tottenham are now lining up an audacious double swoop for their midfield to sign Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali and Fernandes, who are valued at around £185m combined by their clubs.
When interest first broke in Fernandes, some may have assumed that it would either be Tonali or the Portugal international, but it quickly became clear that De Zerbi wants the north London outfit to get both as he looks to transform Spurs’ engine room.
Tottenham are also looking to make additions to their frontline too in what looks set to be one of their biggest and most important summer transfer windows in years, and potentially ever.
Jacobs: Tottenham in Advanced Talks for Fernandes Deal
According to Jacobs, posting on X on Wednesday evening, Tottenham are now in advanced talks over a deal to sign Fernandes from their London neighbours.
The 21-year-old has emerged as one of the club’s top transfer targets in recent weeks, and now they are looking to push a deal over the line and beat Premier League rivals Manchester United to his signature.
Separate reports have suggested that the north Londoners are ‘very close’ to an agreement on personal terms with the Portuguese star, who is keen to avoid playing in England’s second tier next term.
West Ham are in a strong negotiating position thanks to an incoming £90m cash injection, with the club seeking £80-85m for their prized asset this summer even though they are a Championship club.
That fee would smash Tottenham’s current transfer record, which is the £65m they paid to sign Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth last summer.
United also remain in talks with the player and West Ham over a deal.

Tottenham Also Targeting Alex Scott
According to Jacobs, Tottenham remain strongly in the race to sign Tonali from Newcastle, although they face competition from Manchester City for the Italian’s signature, even though City are also working on a deal for Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson.
It isn’t just Tonali and Fernandes who Spurs have an interest in though, as they also have Bournemouth star Alex Scott on their radar.
The Cherries are hoping to tie the England international down to a new contract, but he is also attracting interest from Arsenal and Manchester United alongside Tottenham.
