The Deputy Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Muhammad Abiodun Fadeyi, has urged the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to delete his record and information from the register and website of the party.

Fadeyi, who represents Ona Ara State Constituency, made the declaration in his resignation letter addressed to the PDP chairman in Ward 8, Ona Ara Local Government Area.

Fadeyi, in the statement, said: “I wish to write to inform you of my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) due to the lingering and unresolved internal crisis rocking the party.

“Kindly delete my record and information from the party register and website completely. This is to allow me to complete and advance my political interest on another platform. I sincerely appreciate and am grateful for everything I have been able to achieve with the party.

“Accept the assurances of my highest regards.”

Former aspirant of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Rotimi Amaechi, has described himself as a simple politician who doesn’t steal money.

Amaechi, in an interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo, said transparency is not an easy thing when talking about corruption.

He said: “I’m the simplest politician you can meet in Nigeria. When they meet me and see how simple and ordinary I am, it sweeps them off their feet.

“When I say I won’t steal money, 80% of the time I’m serious. Is it easy to swear to God and say in your life you won’t steal?

“Transparency is not an easy thing in terms of corruption. Have you really gone to take people’s money, no.

“Most of the things you have, you really have to say that the office helped you to influence it, so there are a lot of loans some of us took, if it weren’t the government they wouldn’t give you.”

The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the presidential ambition of Governor Seyi Makinde as dead on arrival.

The APC made this declaration in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare.

The statement was made available to DAILY POST on Sunday.

DAILY POST gathered that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State had on Saturday emerged as the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Our correspondent reports that the APM flag was presented to the governor at an event in Ibadan, the state capital.

The APC, in its reaction, alleged that the governor has abandoned the state to pursue his ambition.

The party, while declaring the governor’s ambition dead on arrival, said that he had failed to meet the expectations of the people over the last seven years.

The APC further maintained that the governor has no excuse other than to perform his constitutional responsibilities.

The party noted that, as governor, Makinde is in a position to tackle the array of problems facing the state.

The APC said in the statement: “Certainly, Gov. Makinde’s presidential ambition is dead on arrival, but our fear is about the amount of losses, deprivation and wastefulness which the good people of the state would be subjected to in the next one year under his leadership.

“The people of Oyo State deserve a team player, a sincere and humble person as their governor, and since Makinde has failed to demonstrate these qualities in the last seven years, he should just apologise and quit the state.”
