All the parties are expected to submit their membership registers to the electoral umpire on or before midnight of tomorrow, May 10.
Most of the parties were busy all week as political figures were locked in realignment and cross-defections from one party to the other with the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, which received three senators and 18 members of the House of Representatives being the major beneficiary.
To meet the INEC timelines, the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, concluded sale of nomination forms on May 6, closed collection of forms on May 7, began screening of aspirants, yesterday.
In the same vein, NDC and Social Democratic Party, SDP, will hold their national conventions, today.

On its part, the BOOT Party, has announced the sale of its presidential Expression of Interest form for N5 million, while introducing a new “Trust Before Ticket” framework for aspirants.
Speaking with Saturday Vanguard, the National Chairman of the party, Sunny Adenuga, said the party held its national convention last week and had begun preparations for its primaries scheduled for May 29, 2026.
According to him, the forms are available online and cover various elective positions.
The fees include: President Expression of Interest, N5 million; President Trust Before Ticket, N500 million; Governor Expression of Interest, N2 million; Governor Trust Before Ticket, N10 million; Senatorial Expression of Interest, N1 million; and Senatorial Trust Before Ticket, N2 million.
Others are House of Representatives Expression of Interest, N500,000; House of Representatives Trust Before Ticket, N1 million; State Assembly Expression of Interest, N100,000; and State Assembly Trust Before Ticket, N250,000.
Adenuga explained that the “Trust Before Ticket” initiative was introduced to promote integrity, accountability and transparency in the party’s candidate selection process.
He said: “Trust Before Ticket means accountability before power and responsibility before representation. Nigeria does not need recycled political habits under new branding.”
He clarified that the N500 million presidential trust fund would not be paid directly to the party but lodged in a bank account managed under agreed conditions.
According to him, unsuccessful aspirants would get refunds after the primaries, while the eventual flag bearer’s funds would be used strictly for campaign activities.
“The money never sits with the party. It is meant solely for electioneering activities based on agreements signed by all parties involved,” he added.

Tinubu till 2031, no vacancy in Presidential Villa – Atiku’s ally dumps ADC
Aslam Aliyu, a political ally of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has said there is no vacancy in the Presidential Villa until 2031.
Aliyu said President Bola Tinubu will emerge victorious in the 2027 presidential election.
In a statement she released in Abuja, announcing her resignation from the ADC and defecting to the All Progressives Congress, APC, Aliyu called the opposition party a “hoax.”
Aliyu also showed her support for Tinubu, saying her choice came after many years of working with the opposition, which she said did not offer a real plan for the country’s progress.
“After almost twenty years of working hard to make progress, it’s very clear that the opposition doesn’t have a real plan for development or a practical and lasting solution to save the country,” she said.
Aliyu said the opposition group didn’t have trust within its own members.
She also said the ADC didn’t have a real plan for the country, arguing that their approach was just criticizing the federal government without giving any real solutions.
She said, “Nigeria is fed up with political figures who only take photos and act like they’re filming, but don’t really care about the country.”
Aliyu asked her followers to become members of the APC and said that President Tinubu will win another term in 2027.
She said, “There are no available rooms in Aso Rock Villa because President Tinubu will win the presidential election in 2027, thanks to Almighty Allah.”

Sources at the meeting disclosed it centered on the planned defection of Arapaja to APC.
Both Makinde and Arapaja belong to the same faction of PDP until recent moves by Arapaja to join APC.

Osun Guber: NOA urges vigilance, seeks traditional rulers support
Osun State Directorate of the National Orientation Agency, NOA, has urged residents to remain security conscious in view of the prevailing security challenges across the country.
The agency also called for greater collaboration with traditional institutions to promote peaceful civic engagement ahead of the 2026 Osun State governorship election.
The State Director of the agency, Adebiyi Adefarasin Stephen, made the appeal on Tuesday during an advocacy visit to the Olowu of Kuta, Oba Adekunle Oyelude Makama, where he led the agency’s management team on a sensitisation programme.
Adefarasin said the visit formed part of efforts to mobilise traditional institutions in support of voter education and to encourage peaceful participation in the electoral process before the 2026 governorship poll in Osun State.
He also stressed the importance of traditional rulers in promoting civic responsibility, peaceful participation and national values at the grassroots, describing them as critical partners in community mobilisation.
The delegation comprised Community Orientation and Mobilisation Officers, COMOs, from Iwo, Ayedire and Olaoluwa Local Government Areas, alongside the second-in-command of the WAI Brigade, Osun State Command.
According to the NOA director, the advocacy visit also provided an opportunity to sensitise the palace on the agency’s flagship National Values Charter, aimed at strengthening patriotism and responsible citizenship.
“The people of Osun State should remain security conscious in view of the current security realities in the country. We urge residents to embrace peaceful coexistence and active civic participation,” he said.
Responding, Oba Adekunle Oyelude Makama commended the National Orientation Agency under the leadership of Director-General, Lanre Issa-Onilu, for initiating the advocacy programme.
The monarch pledged the support of the Kuta Kingdom towards ensuring a peaceful, credible and values-driven governorship election in Osun State.
He also called on the Federal Government to prioritise funding for the agency as a first-line charge to enable it to discharge its mandate effectively and efficiently.
The advocacy visit forms part of the NOA’s ongoing engagement with key stakeholders across Osun State to strengthen voter education, promote national values and encourage peaceful participation in the 2026 governorship election.
