Police rescue four kidnapped children at Lagos bus terminal
Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have rescued four kidnapped children at Alafia Bus Terminal in the Coker-Orile area of the state and safely reunited them with their parents.
A statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the operation was in line with the commitment of the Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, to tackle crimes against children and protect vulnerable residents across the state.
According to the statement, the incident occurred at about 11:40 p.m. on May 8, 2026, when police operatives on patrol spotted four children with an unidentified woman preparing to board a luxury bus heading out of Lagos State.
The statement said the woman immediately fled the scene after noticing the presence of the police officers, abandoning the children behind.
“On 8th May, 2026 at about 11:40pm, while on routine patrol around Alafia Bus Terminal, Coker-Orile, Police operatives observed four children in the company of an unidentified woman who was about to board a luxurious bus heading outside Lagos State. Upon sighting the Police patrol team, the suspected trafficker abandoned the children and fled the scene to an unknown destination,” the statement read.
Initial investigations later revealed that the children had earlier been abducted from the Ijesha-Tedo area of Lagos and were allegedly being moved out of the state before the police intervention.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the children had earlier been kidnapped from the Ijesha-Tedo area of Lagos State and were about to be moved out of the State under the cover of night to an unknown destination before the timely intervention of the Police,” the statement added.
The children were immediately taken into protective custody while efforts began to trace their families.
Police authorities later traced the families of the children, who have now been safely reunited with their parents.
“The children were immediately taken into protective custody while efforts commenced to trace their families.
“Their parents were subsequently contacted, and the four children have since been safely reunited with them. Investigation is ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect and unravel other individuals connected to the criminal act,” the statement said.
The Commissioner of Police commended the patrol officers involved in the rescue for their vigilance and professionalism.
He also reassured residents of the command’s determination to continue protecting lives and property across the state.
“The Commissioner of Police commends the alertness and professionalism of the patrol officers involved in the rescue operation and reassures Lagos residents of the Command’s continuous commitment to protecting lives and property across the State,” the statement added.
The police boss further advised parents and guardians to remain watchful over their children and report suspicious movements or activities involving children to security agencies without delay.
“He further urges parents and guardians to remain vigilant regarding the safety and whereabouts of their children at all times, and to promptly report any suspicious movements, persons, or activities involving children to the nearest Police Station or other security agencies for immediate action,” the statement stated.

Troops discover corpse with machete wounds in Plateau community
Troops of Operation Enduring Peace, OPEP, have discovered the corpse of a man with machete wounds in the Torok community of Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Spokesman of the security outfit, Captain Polycarp Oteh, who confirmed this in a statement on Friday, said troops of Sector 6 of OPEP discovered the remains of the victim on the outskirts of the village following a distress report made to the Sector by residents on Thursday and proceeded to the scene for verification.
According to the OPEP spokesman, the deceased was identified as Toma Chuwang, a resident of Torok village.
“Preliminary findings indicated that the victim was allegedly attacked by yet-to-be-identified militia members while returning from an illegal mining site in the area,” Oteh said.
He disclosed that the corpse showed signs of decomposition, suggesting that the victim may have died several days before it was discovered.
“Upon arrival at the location, troops confirmed the corpse of Mr. Toma Chuwang with machete cuts on the body. The condition of the corpse indicates that it had already started decomposing,“ the statement said.
Oteh added that the remains of the victim were evacuated from the scene while security agencies have commenced an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the killing and identify those responsible.
He added that efforts were also ongoing to gather further information that could assist in unraveling the incident and bringing the perpetrators to justice.

Troops foil terrorist infiltration, arrest logistics suppliers in Borno
The Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in collaboration with local security stakeholders, has foiled a terrorist infiltration attempt and disrupted terrorist logistics and support networks across the North East.
Lieutenant Colonel Haruna M. Sani, Acting Media Information Officer (North East), said in a statement on Friday night that troops responded swiftly to the sighting of terrorists advancing towards the North East Theatre Training School, Buni Yadi, at about 9:00 a.m. on 9 June 2026. The troops neutralized two terrorists and recovered a motorcycle.
Also, troops of the 25 Brigade Garrison, in conjunction with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), apprehended two suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP logistics suppliers, Mallam Bako Ibrahim and Abu Aji, along the Sierra 4 axis in Damboa.
Similarly, troops of the 162 Amphibious Battalion, working closely with the CJTF along the Mandaragirau–Sabon Gari Road, arrested another suspected logistics supplier, Musa Idi. Investigations revealed that the suspects were involved in providing logistics support to terrorists operating within Damboa Local Government Area.
Items recovered from the suspects included 19 wristwatches, one large mat, one transistor radio, two cartons of agro-allied chemicals, and other materials intended for terrorist use. The suspects and the recovered items are currently in custody for further investigation and necessary action.
In a related development, combined troops of Sector 2, in collaboration with the CJTF, arrested a 23-year-old suspect, Adams Shittima, in Damboa town at about 5:58 a.m. on 9 June 2026. The suspect was intercepted while attempting to procure farm implements and mosquito nets for terrorist elements.
During preliminary interrogation, he confessed to providing both logistics support and information to terrorists operating within Damboa Local Government Area, further exposing the network of collaborators sustaining insurgent activities in the area.
The military high command commended the troops for their professionalism, vigilance, resilience, and unwavering commitment in the ongoing fight against terrorism and criminality.

Police arrest four suspects over criminal activities in Ibadan
Men of the Oyo State Police Command have arrested no fewer than four suspects over various criminal activities.
The suspects were arrested in Ibadan, the state capital.
The Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed this in a statement.
The statement was made available to DAILY POST on Friday.
Ayanlade said the suspects are members of a cult group that has been terrorising residents of Ibadan.
The suspects, according to the police, are Salawu Sarafa, Yusuf Tajudeen, Farouq Ariyo and Adebayo Awosemo.
He added that the police recovered some items as exhibits from the suspects.
He said the suspects are currently in police custody.
“Acting swiftly on the actionable intelligence, the operatives mobilised to the location and successfully apprehended four suspected members of the gang, namely: Salawu Sarafa, Yusuf Tajudeen, Farouq Ariyo and Adebayo Awosemo.”
