Arise News anchor, Rufai Oseni, has said that as by presidential candidate that feels too big to appear for an interview on television will never serve Nigerians well.

In a post on X, Rufai said such persons will be too big for the people they intend to govern.

His assertion came as Nigerians are warming up to go to the polls to elect their President, governors and representatives at the national and state levels.

DAILY POST recalls that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has published credentials and personal details of presidential candidates and their running mates.

“Any presidential candidate that is too big to appear for an interview on television will never serve Nigerians well.

“Such persons will be too big for the people, especially those that will never debate,” Rufai wrote.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has displayed 19 presidential candidates and their running mates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

DAILY POST recalls that the electoral body on Saturday published credentials and personal details of the candidates.

The documents, contained in Form EC9, are being displayed at INEC offices nationwide in compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act, allowing members of the public to examine the information submitted by candidates seeking elective office.

INEC explained that the publication of Form EC9 is a legal requirement under Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act, 2026, which mandates the commission to publish the personal particulars, affidavits and credentials submitted by candidates within 21 days of receiving nominations from political parties.

The commission said the documents are available for public inspection at its offices across the country, including state and local government offices, to promote transparency in the electoral process.

The Action Alliance (AA) has given the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) 48 hours to review its published list of candidates for the 2027 general elections, alleging that the names of its candidates were omitted.

The party made the demand in a statement issued on Sunday by its National Chairman, Chief Barrister Kenneth Udeze.

According to Udeze, the party wants INEC to publish a revised list that includes candidates nominated by the National Executive Committee under his leadership.

“The Court of Appeal has affirmed the legitimacy of the leadership under my chairmanship, yet candidates validly nominated by our National Executive Committee were omitted from the list published by INEC,” Udeze said.

AA argued that the omission contravened the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022 governing the publication of candidates submitted by political parties.

According to the statement, the party’s candidates emerged through primaries conducted within the timelines prescribed by law and should therefore be reflected in the published list.

The party urged INEC to urgently review the publication and correct what it described as an omission.

“We are giving INEC 48 hours to correct this omission. If our concerns are not addressed, we will explore all legal remedies available to us. We also urge civil society organisations, the media and other stakeholders to closely monitor developments surrounding this matter,” Udeze said.
