2027: Any vote for Peter Obi is vote for Tinubu – Kenneth Okonkwo

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Kenneth Okonkwo, says any vote for the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is a vote for president Bola Tinubu.

Okonkwo made this statement in an interview with Symfoni.

According to him: “It’s either you are working for Tinubu directly or indirectly because when you divide the votes of some of the coalition or the opposition, you are still making Tinubu to win.

“Nobody forced Peter Obi to enter the ADC. He entered on his own, and one week to the end of the closure of time, he left and gave reasons. What reason was that?

“You cannot compete in primaries and you want to be a president of a challenged country.

“Let me tell you the truth, in 2027, anybody voting for Peter Obi is voting for Tinubu. Don’t say that I didn’t tell you.”

The Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, has said that its 2027 presidential candidate, Donald Duke, met all the requirements to be the flag bearer of the party.

The National Chairman of the PRP, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed made this clarification on Thursday during an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Morning Show’.

He said, “Former Cross River Governor Donald Duke applied to join the party like everybody else. He complied with all the processes, including the screening of candidates.

“As of the time, the consensus and the attempt to create a consensus meeting, we called the meeting of the three persons, all of them from the southern part of the country to sit to see who can get a consensus, and this is a mandatory requirement.

“He was out of the country, but he joined the meeting involving the three parties online. They consented. They interacted with each other. That is good enough for the party, and it’s good enough for the other contestants.

“So, being absent physically is not in breach of either rules or regulations or etiquettes, but he did everything that every candidate of the PRP should do.”

2027: Zoning not important, we want someone to salvage Nigeria – Baba-Ahmed

The Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, says it will field a candidate regardless of where he comes from.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Thursday, the National Chairman of the PRP, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed said zoning is not important but competence and capacity.

Baba-Ahmed added that the PRP will field a presidential candidate no matter his religious or ethnicity background.

“Fielding a candidate from a particular zone is not important. I believe that it doesn’t matter where the candidate is coming from.

“Insisting that the president must come from one part of the country has damaged this country beyond anything you can imagine.

“Look, we lived for eight years under a very inept, incompetent, and indifferent administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. He was from the north,” he said.
