Liverpool Ready To Sell Curtis Jones
As Liverpool prepare for a busy summer transfer window, there is a growing expectation that some key stars could leave the club in favour of new signings.
The squad shake-up has already begun, with Andy Robetson and Mohamed Salah among the important players who have already left, while Ibrahima Konate turned down a contract extension and looks set to join Real Madrid as a free agent.
There could be others within the Liverpool ranks who could fetch a decent fee, which will help the Reds reinvest them in several areas across the team for new boss Andoni Iraola.
Harvey Elliott and Federico Chiesa are among the potential exits, alongside Curtis Jones who could leave as he enters the final year of his contract.
Recent reports have stated that Liverpool are in talks with Inter Milan over a move, but it’s a switch that could prove to be a mistake from the Merseyside club.
Curtis Jones Transfer Mistake
Jones appears to be nearing a potential exit from Liverpool, which makes sense when you consider the fact that he is entering the final year of his deal and the club may wish to reinvest any funds raised into the squad elsewhere.
However, it could prove to be a mistake for several reasons, the main one being the current state of the midfield market in comparison to offering a new deal.
Current target Alex Scott is said to be valued at £80 million if he is to leave Bournemouth this summer, while that remains on the lower end of the current scale.
Other options, such as Adam Wharton, Sandro Tonali and Elliot Anderson, have been quoted in the £100 million range, a fee that is at the extreme ends of the transfer landscape.
However, it goes to show how difficult it would be to invest wisely in a replacement, as well as how valuable these players are currently viewed as in the market.
Jones is a very capable player in his own right, finding it easy to evade pressure when building up from the back and capable of circulating play when needed.
At 25 years old, the academy graduate is still not at his peak, even though he has already been described as “incredible” during his time playing for the England national team.
He also has the potential to improve and become better, while he knows exactly what it means to be a Liverpool player having grown up around the club.
A mixture of those market factors and the quality of Jones shows that it would be a no-brainer to offer a new contract to the star, even if that comes with the promise of more game time.
However, as it appears, things seem to be moving towards a potential sale, which would be a mistake for all the reasons listed above.

Liverpool Contract Problems
The contract situation that could lead to an exit for Jones underlines an ongoing issue Liverpool have faced in recent seasons surrounding the management of the squad.
The Reds have consistently failed to be proactive when it comes to the deals players are on, partially due to some of the chaos off the pitch that has come with the changing of sporting directors and managers.
Key stars in the peak of their career have moved on for free in the form of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ibrahima Konate, while the likes of Virgil van Djik and Mohamed Salah have been allowed to run their own deals into the final year in the last 12 months or so.

Liverpool are closing in on a deal to sign the midfielder at the end of this month
The latest challenge will be to think ahead beyond 2027, when contracts for Jones, Alisson Becker, and Van Dijk are set to expire, to get on top of the issues that are present.
Liverpool have already lost out because of those contract problems, and they could miss out again if Jones is forced to leave.

Alex Pereira Drops Hint Josh Hokit Will Be Fired After White House Card
With UFC Freedom 250 just a matter of days away now, heavyweight contender Alex Pereira has seemingly dropped a bombshell by claiming one of the fighters on the card will be FIRED once it’s all done and dusted.
Speaking in the pre-event press conference last night, the Brazilian was discussing one of the fighters on the stacked UFC White House card, and he dropped strong hints that his future may not be with Dana White‘s company, insinuating that his days are numbered.
Pereira, who is making his heavyweight debut this weekend on the South Lawn of the White House, is set to share the Octagon with Frenchman Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight title, which would be his third belt in a different weight class following his success at middleweight and light heavyweight.
However, despite the biggest fight of his career upon him, Poatan has still had time to discuss other fighters on the card and their futures with, or in this case away, from the UFC.
What Alex Pereira Said Ahead of UFC Freedom 250
During the press conference for the event, Pereira was asked about a fellow fighter on the card, someone he clearly has no time for, and that’s when he dropped the bombshell that he’s heard some things about his future.
The fighter in question is none other than Josh Hokit, who has quite clearly rubbed the heavyweight up the wrong way with his antics over the past few weeks.
‘I Have Beaten Alex Pereira and Sparred With Ciryl Gane – Here’s Who Wins at UFC Freedom 250’
A man who has beaten Alex Pereira and sparred with Ciryl Gane has made his prediction for the huge heavyweight fight at the White House.
After being asked about Hokit, Pereira said: “Honestly, I didn’t even want to talk about [Hokit], but I’m going to make this very clear here.
“He’s already on the [White House] card, there’s no way to take him off. But I don’t know what his future will be after this fight. Whether he’ll still be part of the organisation or not, I really don’t know. I’ve already heard some things, but I can’t talk about them. So I don’t need to think about him, because I don’t even know if he’s going to still be around.”
Josh Hokit’s Controversial Antics
It would probably come as little surprise to many UFC fans that Josh Hokit’s future with the company is uncertain, especially given the fact that controversy is never too far away from the American.
He has built up a reputation over the last few years of saying what he thinks, especially in post-fight interviews, and those opinions are likely what’s going to get him into trouble down the line.
Following his TKO victory at UFC 324, which was actually the first UFC event to be streamed live on Paramount+, he responded to the idea of “losing in a fist fight” by stating: “N-word, please.”
If that wasn’t risky enough, during the same interview, he called out Waldo Cortes-Acosta, labelling him a “deadbeat father not to one kid, but to nine,” and concluded the very same interview by stating: “And P.S., Brittney Griner is a man.”
Updated Weather Forecast For UFC Freedom 250 Amid Cancellation Fears
Dana White has admitted weather is the only thing that could stop the White House card from going ahead.
In response to said interview, Dana White stated: “I heard about it. I didn’t see it. I don’t love it.”
Hokit has a 9-0 professional MMA record, with a 3-0 record in the UFC, but his days could be numbered, especially if what Alex Pereira has heard is accurate.

Anthony Gordon Must Start at the World Cup After Display in England v Costa Rica
One of England’s players proved he must start at the 2026 World Cup after putting in an electric performance against Costa Rica.
The Three Lions played their final match ahead of this summer’s tournament on Wednesday as they took on the CONCACAF outfit at the Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando, Florida.
Thomas Tuchel fielded a very strong XI for the match against Fernando Batista’s side, with the likes of Harry Kane, Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham all starting from the outset.
England were expected to blow their opponents away and that’s exactly what they did as they cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory.
Rice got the Three Lions off to a flyer as he found the net after just nine minutes. Anthony Gordon doubled his side’s lead in the 68th minute as he netted from the penalty spot, before Ollie Watkins scored the game’s final goal with three minutes remaining.
England Star Excels Against Costa Rica
While some players, including Noni Madueke, flattered to deceive in Orlando, others put in impressive displays.
Tuchel has a number of decisions to make for this summer’s tournament, including who should start at left-wing. Marcus Rashford and Gordon have been the two players vying for the spot on the left of England’s three-pronged attack.
While Rashford started in England’s match against New Zealand on June 6, it was Gordon who was given the nod from the outset against Costa Rica.

And the 25-year-old, who completed a £69.3 million move from Newcastle to Barcelona this summer, took his opportunity with both hands.
Gordon put in a terrific display as he terrorised the opposition defence throughout. He set up Rice’s opener with a superb piece of wing-play, getting past his man and then pulling the ball back for the Arsenal midfielder to sweep home.
He impressed again when he thought he had won a penalty for his side, only for VAR to needlessly get involved and overturn the decision.
When England were given a spot-kick, Gordon stepped up and dispatched his effort with aplomb, capping off what was a superb display from the former Newcastle winger.
Gordon was given the Player of the Match award in recognition of his display. SofaScore also gave him a rating of 8.5/10, the highest of any player on the pitch.
Gordon’s performance, as well as Rashford’s struggles against New Zealand and when he came on against Costa Rica, means it must be the former who starts against Croatia on June 17.
The former Newcastle winger is simply in much better form than Rashford. His willingness to run in behind, something that is very much needed with Kane at his best when he drops deep, as well as his energy and ability to get up and down the field, means he would be the much better option to start.
That’s not to say Rashford can’t have an impact off the bench and replace Gordon if he is struggling, though. Rashford may actually be better suited to being a super-sub against tired legs.
Roy Keane: Gordon Will Start Over Rashford
Speaking after England’s victory, Roy Keane thinks it will be Gordon who starts alongside Kane against Croatia on June 17.
He said: “I think Thomas Tuchel will be pleased. There was more intensity tonight in terms of the opposition. A good urgency from England that I enjoyed. You want players to give you a headache.
“Anthony Gordon will be on a high with his dream move to Barcelona. Gordon, you would think, would get the nod [over Rashford].
“A dream scenario for the manager. The players driving each other on.”
England are looking to end their 60-year trophy drought and become world champions for a second time this summer. They are the third favourites to lift the trophy on July 19.

FIFA Force Haiti to Change 2026 World Cup Kit Design
FIFA have forced one nation competing at the 2026 World Cup finals to change their kit design hours before the tournament gets underway.
Mexico and South Africa kick-off the showpiece international tournament on Thursday (8pm BST). FIFA president Gianni Infantino caused another stir on Wednesday during his pre-tournament press conference, urging reporters to “chill” and “relax” after Somali referee Omar Artan was denied entry into the United States.
The 2026 World Cup – co-hosted by the USA, Mexico and Canada – has attracted various negative headlines for matters off the field in the days leading up to the tournament.
As well as the ongoing issue over Artan, who received a hero’s welcome on his return to his home country, there’s also been backlash over the treatment of Iran’s national football team, the ‘scandalous’ cost of drinks at one stadium, and how US security reportedly dealt with the Senegal and Uzbekistan national teams following their arrivals.
Meanwhile, Iraq striker Aymen Hussein was held and questioned for nearly seven hours at Chicago’s O’Hare airport after arriving with the squad.

2026 World Cup Nation’s Kit Banned
Now, just days before their opening World Cup match against Scotland this weekend (Sunday, 2am BST), Haiti have been instructed by world football’s governing body to change their kit design.
The Haiti shirt design, depicting a war scene, fails to comply with FIFA rules and has effectively been banned.
The jersey features an illustration of the Battle of Vertieres in 1803, which secured Haiti’s independence, with the country’s flag. The shirt was worn in both of Haiti’s World Cup warm-up friendlies against New Zealand and Peru.
Per BBC Sport, FIFA’s equipment regulations prohibit the use of any “political, religious, or personal messages or slogans” on kit.
Colombian manufacturer Saeta said in a statement that its original design “was a tribute to the men and women who contribute every day to Haiti’s future” and “was not intended as a political statement”. It added:
“FIFA determined that certain visual elements could be interpreted differently under its equipment regulations and ultimately requested modifications to the design.
“While this interpretation differed from our intention, Saeta respected the process and implemented the final requirements communicated by FIFA.”

Investigative Journalist Reacts to FIFA Decision
In response to the decision, French investigative journalist Romain Molina described FIFA’s stance as “double standards” on X (Twitter), adding: “On the occasion of the most politicised World Cup in history, where a Somali referee and an Iraqi photographer were turned away by one of the host countries for political reasons (in total contradiction to the signed contracts), FIFA imposed on Saeta, the kit supplier for the Haitian national team, to modify the jersey that had been made due to its political nature.
“At issue: a representation of the Battle of Vertieres (November 1803), which marked the culmination of the Haitian Revolution and the proclamation of independence a few weeks later (January 1, 1804) of the world’s first Black republic.
“A symbol of national pride, this battle was chosen by Saeta as a tribute to those men and women who enabled the emancipation of a country raising its flag toward the sky.
“Unthinkable for FIFA, which sees this as a “political message” and has therefore demanded modifications to comply with the competition’s rules. As we all know: the rules exist, but they only apply to certain nations. Keep the faith.”
Haiti, competing in their first World Cup campaign in 52 years, face Brazil and Morocco in their other two Group C fixtures.
The Caribbean nation last qualified for the World Cup back in 1974. In what was their only previous appearance at the tournament, Haiti lost all three group matches, conceding 14 goals in the process.
