Tinubu does not have to resign, let Nigerians decide at the polls – APC chieftain, Aliyu
A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Farouk Aliyu, has said that President Bola Tinubu does not have to resign.
Featuring in an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Morning Show’ on Thursday, Aliyu said, ‘let Nigerians decide Tinubu’s fate at the polls come 2027’.
He was reacting to the call by the opposition asking Tinubu to resign, adding that it was a normal thing for the opposition to do so.
“The President does not have to resign. Nigerians should decide at the polls. Actually, the work of the opposition is exactly what they are doing, so I guess they are doing well by asking the president to throw in the towel.
“We used to be in opposition, and we have called on former presidents when we were in the opposition for them to resign as well.
“So it’s part of what they should do, and we like it by them calling on the president to resign, but then the decision will ultimately be with the people of this country.
“Agreed, there are economic, security, and other challenges, but we are doing our best to ensure these things don’t continue,” he said.

NDC: We gave Peter Obi presidential ticket without collecting money – Dickson
The National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Seriake Dickson, says the party gave Peter Obi the presidential candidate without collecting a dime from him.
Speaking at an NDC stakeholders’ meeting on Thursday, Dickson said the party also allowed Obi to pick his running mate without interference.
He wondered what Obi’s supporters, the Obidients, want from him and the party.
“We gave Obi the presidential ticket free of charge and allowed him to choose his vice presidential candidate without any interference from the party. What else do people want?
“I will have no issues giving the presidential nomination to them. And like I said last night, nobody demanded money from them. Not me or the national chairman.
“At this point we should be working together to ensure victory at the polls come 2027, and I believe we can do it,” he said.

NDC: You seem to be in competition with Peter Obi – Aisha Yesufu hits Dickson
Human rights activist, Aisha Yesufu, had lashed out at the national leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Seriake Dickson, over his recent interview on national television.
Writing on her verified X handle on Thursday, Yesufu said Dickson seems to be in competition with the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
She was responding to Dickson’s interview, where he defended the party’s leadership and addressed criticisms from some Obi supporters following the NDC primaries.
“You seem to be in a competition with the NDC presidential candidate. No one is challenging your leadership of the party.
“The focus should be on securing victory in the 2027 elections and addressing Nigeria’s challenges.
“There is a whole battle ahead of us. Rescuing Nigeria from the current state it is in should be the main focus, not people’s fragile ego!” she said.
