Need some fashion direction for your next big event? Jackie Appiah has worn a few looks that are basically a style guide on their own, and shows a distinct styling depending on the occasion. Some of these outfits are perfect for destination weddings, some are made for glam nights out, and others fit right into a relaxed day with friends.
If a destination wedding is coming up, take a cue from going big on structure. A piece with volume and shape automatically feels special, and you do not need to do much else. Just one striking accessory is enough to complete the look without competing with the outfit itself.
For outdoor events like garden parties or beach gatherings, light and flowy fabrics are always a win. They photograph beautifully, especially when there is a breeze, and they keep you comfortable the entire time. A bright color works well here, but keep your accessories simple so they do not pull attention away from the dress.
When it is time for a formal event, this is where you go all out with sparkle. A gown with shimmer and a fitted shape instantly makes you look like the moment. One standout detail, whether it is a dramatic train or an interesting cut, is all you need to make a lasting impression.
For a casual hangout, do not assume you have to tone things down. Texture and color can still make a statement even in a relaxed setting. Pairing two bold colors works great, just make sure one of them takes the lead while the rest stays simple.
And if you have a cultural event or traditional ceremony to attend, heritage prints like Kente are always a good choice and are timeless. Infact, the trick is in the styling. A well tailored fit instantly makes traditional fabric look fresh and modern. Pair it with an accessory that complements the colors then you are good to go.

Adidas and Pharrell Williams Give the Virginia Vario Flat Earther a Luxe Suede Upgrade

Adidas Originals and Pharrell Williams are expanding their growing Virginia footwear universe with the release of two new suede editions of the Virginia Vario Flat Earther, arriving in black and blue colorways on June 20.
The latest launch follows the successful debut of the silhouette in April, when the sneaker was introduced in premium white full-grain leather with contrasting green or black stripes. Now, the duo returns with a fresh interpretation that leans into premium materials while maintaining the model’s signature minimalist appeal.
Originally inspired by the Adidas Yoga Vario, a silhouette first introduced in Fall/Winter 2004, the Virginia Vario Flat Earther has been completely reimagined through Pharrell Williams’ creative vision. While the original model was rooted in the discipline of yoga, this modern version shifts its focus toward lifestyle wear, emphasizing comfort, balance, and intentional movement.

According to Adidas, the name “Flat Earther” reflects Pharrell’s desire to create a shoe that encourages groundedness while offering a fresh perspective on everyday footwear. The latest suede update builds on that philosophy by introducing a softer, more lived-in feel without compromising the sneaker’s low-profile aesthetic.
Crafted with a premium suede upper, the Virginia Vario Flat Earther delivers a tactile finish that complements its clean and understated design. One of the shoe’s standout features is its magnetic closure system, which replaces traditional laces and allows for effortless wear. The innovative closure aligns with the silhouette’s focus on simplicity and frictionless movement.
White leather Three Stripes branding appears on the sidewalls, providing a classic Adidas touch, while a durable rubber outsole completes the design. Virginia branding can also be found underfoot, reinforcing the connection to Pharrell’s broader creative platform.
Virginia serves as Pharrell Williams’ creative pseudonym and cultural platform, connecting his artistic projects, music, community initiatives, exclusive merchandise, and live experiences. Rooted in his home state of Virginia but reaching audiences worldwide, the platform has become an extension of Pharrell’s creative identity.

Speaking about the silhouette during its initial launch, Pharrell explained the deeper inspiration behind the design.
“Virginia is where it began. It started with the Jellyfish, it let you float. Now comes the Virginia Vario Flat Earther, the next chapter of Virginia. Low profile and fitted, it’s designed to keep you grounded. Stay close to the earth. Move with intention.”
The release arrives shortly after another major moment in the ongoing Adidas and Pharrell collaboration. Following several sold-out launches of the Virginia Adistar Jellyfish, Adidas Originals recently hosted a special retail activation in Chicago, giving fans an opportunity to enter an exclusive raffle for the highly sought-after Triple White colorway at Adidas Wicker Park.
Retailing for $140, the new Virginia Vario Flat Earther suede editions will be available beginning June 20 through Adidas and select retailers worldwide.
With its premium construction, thoughtful design details, and Pharrell’s unique creative influence, the Virginia Vario Flat Earther continues to establish itself as one of the most distinctive lifestyle sneakers in the Adidas Originals lineup.

Sabrina Idukpaye Gives Edo Royalty a Bold New Direction in a Beaded Power Suit

When fashion draws inspiration from royalty, the expected route is usually a grand gown, dramatic draping, or a traditional design. Sabrina Idukpaye chose a different path, and that is exactly what makes this look worth talking about.
At first glance, the outfit carries the richness often associated with Edo royal style. The deep wine colour, the intricate beadwork, and the commanding presence all feel rooted in the elegance and prestige that define royal dressing. But instead of translating those elements into a gown, Sabrina builds the entire story around a sharply tailored suit.
The blazer brings structure and authority while the bead embellishments introduce the decorative richness traditionally seen in ceremonial attire. Rather than competing with the tailoring, the beads become part of the architecture of the outfit. They trace the shoulders, waist, and hips, creating dimension while highlighting the sculpted silhouette.
Then there is the hairstyle, which deserves just as much attention as the suit itself. Rather than relying on a traditional headpiece, Sabrina chooses a sculptural braided updo that rises dramatically above the crown. The hairstyle brings height, presence, and a sense of ceremony to the look while maintaining a modern edge. Much like the tailored suit, it plays with structure and shape, proving that royalty-inspired fashion can be interpreted in fresh and unexpected ways. Together, the sharp tailoring, intricate beadwork, and statement braid create a look that feels regal without following the usual script.
This is what creative fashion interpretation looks like. Sabrina Idukpaye takes the essence of Edo royalty and reimagines it through tailoring, giving us a look that feels both culturally inspired and refreshingly unexpected.

This Toyin Abraham Look Is Exactly How to Make Lace Feel Fresh for Owambe Season

Finding the perfect owambe outfit is one thing. Finding one that feels glamorous, flattering, and thoughtfully styled all at once is another. Toyin Abraham’s latest look gets that balance exactly right.
What stands out immediately is the way the outfit plays with contrast. The black lace creates a strong and elegant base, while the terracotta, burnt orange, and cream floral motifs bring warmth and softness into the design. It is a colour combination that feels rich and celebratory without relying on the usual bright owambe palette.
The fitted blouse is designed to define the waist, but the peplum detail is what gives the silhouette its fashion-forward edge. Instead of sitting flat, it creates volume around the hips, adding shape and movement that make the outfit more visually interesting from every angle. It is the kind of detail that instantly elevates a traditional lace look.

Another smart design choice is the beadwork placement. Rather than covering the entire outfit with embellishments, the detailing is concentrated around the neckline and upper bodice. This naturally draws attention upward and creates a beautiful focal point around the face. It also allows the floral motifs in the fabric to remain the star of the show.
The sleeves deserve a closer look too. The sheer lace provides lightness, while the floral patterns create texture and depth. Together, they prevent the long sleeves from feeling heavy and help maintain the outfit’s elegant flow.
Then there is the gele, arguably one of the strongest styling elements of the entire look. The sculpted terracotta headtie does more than match the outfit. It reinforces the colour story and creates a polished finish that feels intentional rather than predictable.

This is the kind of owambe look that offers plenty of inspiration for anyone planning a wedding guest outfit. It shows how powerful a coordinated colour palette can be. The result is an owambe look that feels sophisticated, memorable, and effortlessly camera-ready.
