The Hisbah Board in Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State has intercepted a consignment of alcoholic beverages allegedly concealed inside sacks and bags while being transported into the area.

The seizure was disclosed in a statement issued on June 26, 2026, by the Information Officer of the Dutsinma Hisbah office, B. Yareema.

The statement said the operation followed intelligence reports received by the board regarding an attempt to smuggle alcohol into Dutsinma.

It explained that Hisbah personnel had intensified surveillance along routes commonly used for transporting alcoholic beverages, prompting suspected smugglers to adopt new tactics by concealing the drinks inside sacks and “Ghana Must Go” bags in an apparent attempt to evade detection.

The statement added that officers from the Kadangaru district office led the operation that resulted in the seizure. The confiscated items have since been taken to the Hisbah office for further action in accordance with the law.

The board also appealed to residents to continue providing credible information to support efforts aimed at promoting public morality, maintaining peace, and enhancing security across Dutsinma Local Government Area.

The Department of State Services (DSS) has released a farmer, Nura Idris, after an investigation revealed he never worked with the Boko Haram insurgent group.
According to Daily Nigerian, DSS Director-General, Oluwatosin Adeola Ajayi ordered Idris’ release and approved a payment of N3m to help him rebuild his life and business.

Idris, a farmer and herder from Soba Local Government Area of Kaduna State, was arrested in Suleja, Niger State, in 2024 over allegations of having ties to terrorists before he was handed over to the DSS.

A review panel set up by the DSS found no evidence connecting him to terrorist activities, leading to an immediate order for his release.

Speaking after regaining his freedom, Idris praised the DSS leadership for the way he was treated while in detention. He said the money given to him would help him restart his life.

Security sources said the DSS is reviewing old cases involving people who have been held for long to ensure that innocent individuals are not kept in custody unnecessarily.

Reports also said that more than 30 people whose cases were reviewed have received over N300m in compensation, as the DSS says the exercise reflects its commitment to protecting citizens’ rights while safeguarding national security.

A youth leader and a member of the Miango Youth Development Association, MYDA, John Telle Danjuma, has been killed by gunmen suspected to be Fulani militia who laid an ambush for him in the Gyu community in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

A statement signed and issued on Saturday by the MYDA Publicity Secretary, Weyi Agara, said the incident occurred on Friday, June 25, 2026, when the gunmen ambushed Danjuma on his way home from a function and shot him dead.

In the statement, Agara said Danjuma, who was the Director of Social for the organization, was sworn into office only two months ago, along with newly elected executives.

“The Miango Youth Development Association (MYDA) mourns the brutal killing of our newly sworn-in Director of Social, Mr. John Telle Danjuma, popularly known as Excoba, who was ambushed and shot dead by Fulani militias along Gyu (Twins Hill) in the late hours of June 25, 2026,” Agara said.

He added that Danjuma, who was in his early 30s, was a devoted servant of his fatherland and humanity.

“He assumed office just two months ago, dedicating himself to the upliftment of the Irigwe people. His life was cut short in active service, leaving behind a young wife and a little son who now face the future without his guidance and love.

“This heinous act is not an isolated incident but part of a systematic agenda of total cleansing against the Irigwe people, which has continued unabated,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, the Plateau State Police Command spokesman, SP Alfred Alabo, could not be reached, nor has the Command made any official statement on the incident at the time of going to press.
