The Lagos State Police Command said its operatives have arrested 150 suspects and recovered 100 unregistered motorcycles, firearms, suspected stolen property, and illicit drugs during a coordinated raid on criminal hideouts in the Igando and Idimu areas of the state.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the command said the operation, conducted under the ongoing Operation KO S’AYE, targeted criminal hideouts at Boolar, Oko Filling Bus Stop, Igando, and other identified black spots within the Area M, Idimu axis.

The statement said the operation was carried out at about 5:45 am on Sunday following credible intelligence, adding that the coordinated raid involved a joint team of operatives drawn from different formations of the Lagos State Police Command.

“As part of the ongoing Operation KO S’AYE, the Lagos State Police Command has sustained its aggressive clearance operations against criminal hideouts across the state, in line with the Command’s commitment to ensuring that there is no safe haven for criminals,” the statement said.

Exhibits recovered during the operation included 100 unregistered motorcycles, 54 mobile phones, one double-barrel gun, two single-barrel guns, one locally made double-barrel shotgun, two military camouflage uniforms, assorted charms, six generators suspected to have been stolen, substances suspected to be Indian hemp, and various quantities of illicit drugs.

It added that all the suspects are currently in police custody, while investigations are ongoing to determine their individual culpability.

The statement further said those found to have committed criminal offences will be charged to court accordingly.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining the anti-crime operation across the state.

He commended the operatives for their professionalism and dedication, stressing that Operation KO S’AYE would continue across Lagos to deny criminals safe haven and ensure the safety and security of residents.

The Abia State Police Command says it has arrested a 35-year-old woman, Mrs Nwoko Gift, for attempting to harm her 12-year-old house help with a knife.

According to the Abia State Police Command, the woman was seen in a viral video on social media attempting to kill the victim, identified as Miss Ebony Chimamanda.

A statement signed by DSP Maureen Chinaka, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Abia State Command, said preliminary investigation into the case revealed that the incident occurred on 05/07/2026.

It explained that Mrs Nwoko Gift, who is from Ehime Mbano, Imo State, but resides at IBB Housing Estate, Umuahia, on the same date attempted to kill Miss Ebo Chimamanda, who lives with her, because she allegedly refused to spread the clothes she was instructed to spread before the suspect (Mrs Gift) left for the market.

The Police Command also said that investigations revealed that the suspect had repeatedly beaten and threatened to kill the young Miss Chimamanda.

“Operatives from the World Bank Divisional Police Headquarters, Umuahia, raced to the scene, leveraging actionable intelligence, rescued the victim, apprehended the suspect, and recovered the knife used in the attack.

“Investigation is ongoing, as the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), and the suspect will be charged with attempted murder upon the conclusion of the investigation,” the Abia State Police Command said.

The command condemned the actions of the suspect and advised members of the public to desist from such acts, adding that anyone who engages in such violent conduct should be reported to the police.

The Osun State Police Command has warned cult groups and their members against engaging in any activity to commemorate July 7, 2026.

The warning is coming after intelligence reports of a planned cult-related celebrations across the country on Tuesday, July 7.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan on Monday, the command said intelligence indicated that some cult groups were planning to mark the date and initiate secondary school students into their ranks.

The command described the planned activities as unlawful and warned that security agencies were closely monitoring the movements of suspected cultists across the state.

According to the statement, “adequate personnel and operational assets have been deployed to strategic locations to ensure the safety of lives and property throughout the period.”

The police said “intelligence-led operations, stop-and-search duties, patrols and surveillance had been intensified to prevent any breach of public peace.

“CP Gotan had also directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Commanders of the Violent Crime Response Units to remain on high alert.”

The statement disclosed that CP Gotan had issued “marching orders to the Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and Commanders of Violent Crime Response Units (VCRU) to be at alert and nip in the bud any act capable of truncating the peace of the state.”

The command urged parents, guardians, school authorities and community leaders to discourage children and wards from associating with cult groups or attending gatherings linked to cult activities.

It reiterated that cultism remains a criminal offence, warning that anyone found organising, participating in or promoting cult-related activities would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The police also cautioned hoteliers, owners of recreation and event centres, as well as landlords and landladies, against allowing their facilities to be used for cult-related meetings or activities, warning that offenders could face prosecution.

While assuring residents that adequate security measures had been put in place, the command advised members of the public to continue their lawful activities without fear and to remain vigilant.
