World Cup 2026 Goal Songs: Every Team’s Celebration Music
The 2026 World Cup captured the imagination of a global audience — combining passion, support, energy and a healthy dose of music.
Every country has their own chants, music and anthems that ring out during their games. Interestingly, FIFA invited every one of the 48 competing nations to select a soundtrack, with one to ring out every time the team scored, and another to celebrate a full-time victory.
It allowed an incredible atmosphere to develop across the 16 host cities in the United States, Canada and Mexico. However, FIFA created playlists together with the national associations, but a lot of the picks were spotted by fans in the ground, and several teams used more than one song — meaning the track you heard could change from match to match.
Therefore, we’ve decided to wade through the tournament and analyse all the reported goal celebration songs by each country in the competition, from which information is publicly available.

From the list above, it is clear that English-speaking nations have gone for universally known anthems to engage the fans and help elevate an already important moment.
England‘s pick takes inspiration from another one of the country’s biggest fan-friendly sports: darts. Whilst the Scottish embraced one of the most well-known important music exports with the Proclaimers.
America steered into the classic rock anthem with Bon Jovi and the French went for the high-energy and famed dance anthem from Daft Punk, which goes hand-in-hand with their on-pitch electricity. Whilst Australia’s ‘Land Down Under’ is inherently Aussie, it is also the most jovial of songs on the list.
Outside of that, most countries kept it traditional, selecting something that truly represents their people rather than a global anthem that all will know. South Korea‘s K-Pop selection is a global phenomenon, but the rest are songs likely only known to the country and a very small percentage of people who aren’t natives.
England Goal Celebration Song
“Chase the Sun” by Planet Funk was released in Europe around the start of the decade. It is an Italian electronic production and its melody is lifted from a film score. The unique sound has become an anthem for sporting fans.
British audiences know it best as the official anthem of the PDC World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace, perfect for a fast-moving and exciting environment and one that represents joy for English fan culture. However, the unofficial supporter anthem that has been adopted by the team is “Wonderwall” by Oasis, that has brought incredible post-match celebration footage.
Spain Goal Celebration Song
The reigning European champions’ goal music includes “Despechá” by Rosalía, which is one of two goal songs used by the Spanish. This 2022 release became one of the year’s defining summer hits, making it perfect for stadium and fan celebrations. A contemporary choice for a team that is well-used to success and joyous moments on the pitch.
Argentina Goal Celebration Song
This song sits alongside specific fan chants that have been well-loved by the Argentinian fans. For example, this song from Yerba Brava is a bouncing, street song that plays over the PA when they find the net.
It shouldn’t be confused with the fan songs that we hear, including Muchachos — or ‘The Land of Diego and Lionel‘ which have been universally sung from the 2022 World Cup triumph into the next tournament. A new one is La Cuarta Estrella and others include ‘El que no brinque es Inglés’ (Whoever Doesn’t Jump is English), Argentine singer Gilda’s ‘No me arrepiento de este amor‘ and ‘El Diez‘, a song about Diego Maradona.
France Goal Celebration Song
Released in 2000, Daft Punk were known for creating one of the classics in the electric, dance and house genres. It is a wholly euphoric track that is endlessly repeatable and the build-up and explosion of sound is perfect for a team with incredible firepower who aims at capturing World Cup glory. There is also ‘Song 2′ by Blur, which is reportedly in their rotation, which also speaks to the high-energy.

‘Strongly Deny’ – Man Utd Reporter Gives Huge Update on Ederson
The Ederson transfer saga has taken a fresh twist as Manchester United sources have reportedly responded to claims that the deal is off.
Fabrizio Romano reported on Friday evening that United had pulled the plug on a £38m package deal for Ederson. That decision came after the Brazilian underwent medical tests, and there are suggestions in Italy that the club were concerned about his fitness.
Atalanta were said to believe the 27-year-old was “fully fit” and prepared to welcome him back into their squad. The situation has left fans puzzled, as reports that the transfer has collapsed are now being refuted.
Man Utd Sources Deny Ederson Deal Off
Manchester Evening News’ Steven Railston has reported on his X account that United sources “strongly deny” that the deal is off. The club feel that reports about the transfer collapsing are to put pressure on them to complete it.
United and Atalanta agreed on a deal for Ederson back in May before the player earned a last-minute call-up to Brazil’s World Cup squad. He’s believed to have undergone a medical test in the USA, which led to talk of possible complications.
Ederson has already agreed on personal terms with the Reds on a contract set to run until 2031. If he were to join the club he’d be making around £4.2m (€5m per year).
Reports from Italy suggest United decided against completing the deal due to concerns about an underlying knee issue. That’s despite the player only suffering three significant injuries during his time at Atalanta, including a meniscus injury in 2025.

Man Utd Need to Make a Decision
United might well feel the Italian media are trying to force them to get the deal over the line. They have taken their time completing the transfer, but there is clearly a holdup for a reason.
Ederson is waiting to make a dream move to Old Trafford, but a lack of clarity has left everybody outside of the club puzzled. Several midfield alternatives have been linked, including AS Roma’s Manu Kone.
The decision to spend £50m on Andrey Santos raised questions about the progress of Ederson’s switch. Many assume that the Brazilian is arriving at the club from Chelsea, rather than his compatriot.

England vs Norway Could Be Delayed
A US weather expert has issued a statement ahead of England’s quarter-final against Norway, with the chances of a kick-off delay emerging ahead of Saturday night’s World Cup clash. The Three Lions have become all too familiar with heat, humidity and thunderstorms disrupting their preparations at this summer’s tournament.
On Monday morning, their highly anticipated Round of 16 clash with Mexico was delayed by an hour due to storms in Mexico City, after they had already been forced to deal with the challenges of playing at altitude inside the iconic Azteca Stadium. Against all odds, they swept their previously unbeaten opponents aside in a memorable 3-2 victory, becoming only the third nation to defeat El Tri on home soil in 90 matches.
Now, there are once again murmurs of a potential delay – this time in Florida. But even if there is no suspension to proceedings at Hard Rock Stadium, locals have warned that conditions could make for a challenging evening for both teams, with a little-known “Swamp Ass” warning adding another unusual twist to England’s weather woes.
Weather Expert Issues Little-Known ‘Swamp Ass’ Warning
Temperatures in Miami are expected to hit 34C around the scheduled 5pm local kick-off time, with thunderstorms also forecasted. But alarmingly, due to the high humidity, the heat is set to feel close to the mid-40s when the match kicks off. And now a weatherman from Florida has issued a stark warning for those travelling to the Sunshine State. Meteorologist Matt Devitt wrote on X (see below):
“I’m issuing my first ever SWAMP ASS WARNING for the entire state of Florida for the next three days thanks to extra heat and humidity. It’ll feel like 105 – 114°. Stay cool y’all!”
Florida’s swampy landscape is the result of its unique geography, flat topography, high water table and subtropical climate. ‘Swamp Ass’ is a local phenomenon directly tied to the relationship between air temperature and relative humidity.
In high humidity, the air is already saturated with water vapor, meaning your body’s sweat cannot easily evaporate to cool you down. This trapped perspiration creates a muggy, humid microclimate in the back of your pants, mimicking the sticky conditions of a tropical swamp, according to the Thigh Society.
Chances of England vs Norway Being Delayed Revealed
Postponement or cancellation of matches becomes an option open to organisers at the temperature expected in Florida this weekend, although it’s not mandatory.
The BBC’s weather predictor is also forecasting thunderstorms shortly before kick-off and during the match, which means the Three Lions currently face even greater chances of a delayed kickoff than they did in their last fixture.

US Sports rules state that lightning within eight miles of the stadium will lead to suspensions in order to protect players and fans. Emergency warnings are in place and play will be delayed by half an hour every time there is a fresh strike within the perimeter.
Officials record WBGT (Wet-bulb globe temperature) readings 90 minutes before kick-off and again one hour before the match at venues considered especially hot or humid.

Man Utd Deal for Ederson Off After Shock U-Turn
Manchester United have pulled the plug on a deal to sign Ederson from Atalanta, despite the player having already undergone a medical ahead of a potential move.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Ederson’s move to United is off and the Premier League giants have informed the Italians they will not be proceeding. It’s a shocking turn of events, given that a £38 million deal had been agreed since May.
Ederson has been busy representing Brazil at the World Cup and underwent a medical in the USA. There’s no word on whether the club have concerns about his fitness, but Romano claims Atalanta believe he’s fully fit and are ready to welcome him back into their squad.
Man Utd Pull Out of Ederson Deal
Romano reports that United have changed their plans amid their ongoing midfield overhaul. Ederson looked set to be the first arrival when the club agreed on a package deal with Atalanta two months ago.
As time passed, curiosity grew due to the lack of updates on the transfer, despite an agreement between the two clubs being in place. This was put down to the 27-year-old’s participation in the World Cup and to suggestions that the club intended to conduct its own medical tests in the UK.
United swooped for Andrey Santos on Wednesday, agreeing on a £50m fee with Chelsea for Ederson’s compatriot. This only further cast doubts over the Atalanta man completing a switch to Old Trafford.

Who Does Carrick Turn to Now?
All eyes will be on whom the Red Devils target after deciding against signing Ederson. AS Roma’s Manu Kone has emerged as a target and the club have reportedly initiated talks with the Frenchman’s entourage over a potential move.
Kone has caught the eye at the World Cup, playing an impressive role in France’s surge to the quarter-finals. He could be available for a reasonable fee compared to other midfielders who have been on the move this summer.
United are reportedly still set to sign a marquee midfielder, and perhaps their decision over Ederson stems from a desire to pay big money for a Casemiro replacement. They have missed out on top targets as Elliot Anderson joined rivals Manchester City for £116m while Aurelien Tchouameni is set to sign a new deal with Real Madrid.
Replacing Casemiro has been Carrick’s priority since the transfer window opened. It appears that Santos has been signed instead of Ederson, and there remains a desire to sign a high-profile number six.
