Arsenal in Constant Talks to Sign Christian Kofane
Arsenal remain in regular contact with Bayer Leverkusen striker Christian Kofane, although the player’s agent is currently holding talks with Everton over a potential switch to Merseyside, according to journalist David Schill.
Kofane enjoyed an impressive debut campaign with the German outfit, scoring seven goals and providing six assists in 44 appearances across all competitions. This form has prompted interest from several clubs, including the Gunners and the Toffees.
The North London outfit have reportedly been in talks with Kofane’s camp for some time now, as Mikel Arteta looks to provide Viktor Gyokeres and Kai Havertz with fresh competition ahead of the 2026/27 season.
However, it now appears that a switch to the Hill Dickinson Stadium could be on the cards for the Nigerian forward.
Arsenal Target Christian Kofane Speaking to Everton
Speculation linking Kofane with Arsenal first emerged in March after the Gunners defeated Leverkusen over two legs in the Champions League round of 16. Arteta is said to have admired the 19-year-old’s performance against his team, after the youngster caught the eye by causing imperious centre-back William Saliba issues throughout the tie.
Heading into this window, multiple reports suggested that Arsenal’s sporting director Andrea Berta is intent on adding another striker to Arteta’s squad.
Kofane, described as ‘one of Europe’s most exciting strikers’ is understood to be on the Gunners’ shortlist for this position, although it now appears as though the player could be slipping away from them.
David Schill reports that Kofane’s agent, Eric Depolo, arrived at Everton’s training ground earlier this week to discuss a potential move to the north-west.
A positive meeting was held between the two parties, with the Merseysiders now pushing to accelerate a deal for the prodigy number nine.
That said, Everton’s desire to get on with things is said to be born out of fear of competition, with many clubs still circling for Kofane. Arsenal are among those still in the race, although they’ll have to move quickly if they want to hijack their Premier League rivals’ move for the player.

Arsenal Should Move for Junior Kroupi Instead
Gabriel Jesus is expected to leave Arsenal this summer, making a centre-forward signing somewhat necessary. Adding a younger player who can develop alongside the likes of Havertz and Gyokeres makes sense, although Kofane may not be the right man.
While the Nigerian has shown glimpses of promise for Leverkusen, his output in the Bundesliga doesn’t suggest he’s ready to make an impact for a club competing for football’s biggest prizes.
Instead, Arsenal should look to sign Bournemouth’s Junior Kroupi. The Frenchman has been linked with a move to the Emirates, and his pedigree certainly makes him a more appealing option than Kofane.
Kroupi netted 13 goals in the Premier League last season, and only turned 20 in June. He may cost upwards of £80 million, but this is still a deal Berta should explore.

Tottenham Targeting Sporting CP Winger Francisco Trincao
Tottenham are shifting their focus to strengthening their forward line after improving their defensive and midfield options in the summer transfer window.
It’s been an incredibly busy window for Spurs so far, bringing in a total of six new additions for Roberto De Zerbi’s squad.
Martin Dubravka, Jan-Paul Van Hecke, Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson, Mateus Fernandes, and Sandro Tonali have all arrived through the door at Hotspur Way.
The North London club shouldn’t need too many more additions in defence or midfield, meaning they can now focus on their forward options for the rest of the window.
It is unclear what position in the attack they are likely to prioritise, but it seems they are in the market to sign a new winger.
Tottenham eyeing Portuguese star
According to a report from Record in Portugal, Tottenham are now eyeing a move to sign Sporting CP star Francisco Trincao in the summer transfer window.
Al Ahli of Saudi Arabia are willing to pay Sporting €50 million in order to sign the Portuguese international, but he still has other interests on the table.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Al Ahli are in advanced talks to sign Trincao, with negotiations underway with the player.
It remains to be seen whether Trincao is keen on a move to Saudi Arabia, especially with interest from the Premier League.
Spurs certainly haven’t been afraid to smash clubs out of the park when it comes to transfers this summer, but whether they can beat the money of Saudi Arabia is another question.

Tottenham eyeing Portuguese team-mate
Trincao isn’t the only Portuguese international that Tottenham are showing an interest in during the summer transfer window. Spurs are also reportedly keen on AC Milan forward Rafael Leao, and he is keen on a move to Tottenham this summer.
Milan are reportedly seeking up to €70 million for Leao, so a deal for Trincao could be cheaper if Sporting are accepting €50m.
Trincao, who has been described as having shades of Lionel Messi, could be a better option for Tottenham, especially at that price, but given Spurs’ spending this summer, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they were in the market for both players.
It’s been an incredibly busy window for them so far, but their business isn’t finished just yet.

Argentina FA Deny Email Admitting World Cup ‘Corruption’ vs Egypt
After perhaps the most explosive game of the 2026 World Cup to date, the fallout from Argentina’s 3-2 win over Egypt continues to make headlines. The Argentinian FA (AFA) have now been forced to deny sending an email in which they admitted ‘corruption’.
Things were going so well for Egypt as they took the lead through Yasser Ibrahim before Lionel Messi missed his penalty. The first controversy then happened as VAR stepped in to rule out Mostafa Ziko’s goal, although he then scored to make it 2-0 shortly afterwards.
From here, though, Hossam Hassan’s side fell apart with goals from Cristian Romero, Messi and Enzo Fernandes allowing Argentina to complete the impressive comeback in the space of 14 minutes. Egypt were furious at full-time as they questioned numerous refereeing decisions, including the disallowed Ziko goal, while some feel Mohamed Salah should have been awarded a penalty in the build-up to the 93rd-minute winner.
In the aftermath, Egyptian hackers are now suspected of sending a wild email from Argentine FA accounts.
Egyptian Hackers Accused of Sending Argentine Email
As reported by the Telegraph, the AFA have urged recipients to ignore messages sent in an email which “were not generated or authorised by our team.” The alleged scam messages from the federation’s media team account attack French referee Francois Letexier.
Letexier was immediately the subject of great scrutiny after the game, with Egypt manager Hassan furious at full-time. Speaking about Ziko’s ruled out, he angrily told the media: “They want Argentina and Messi to stay in the World Cup for marketing. If they wanted Argentina to win, why invite other teams to participate? This match was clearly rigged, and the whole world witnessed it.”
Egypt have also since filed a complaint, writing in a statement on social media: “Several key incidents raised serious concerns and left profound questions about the consistency and fairness of decisions that directly influenced the course of the game.”
What Was Said in the Email as Argentina Deny Validity
An email sent from an account linked to the AFA’s media team reportedly told journalists that “Argentina did not win” and the team’s victory was the result of “corrupt refereeing decisions”. The email also praised the Egyptian team’s performance.
It’s said that a group of hackers of Egyptian origin had breached part of the AFA database, obtaining email addresses, passwords and IP addresses. Adding to this, Argentina have denied the authenticity of the email. In a statement, they said:
“We would like to inform you that we have detected the possible sending of emails from one of our institutional accounts that were not generated or authorised by our team.
“Given this situation, and while we carry out the corresponding verifications together with the systems area, we ask that you disregard any message you have recently received from our account that seems unusual, especially if it contains links, attachments or requests personal information. There is a possibility that our account has been subject to unauthorised access, so we are working to clarify what happened and take the necessary security measures.
“Our systems have the appropriate security and safeguards in place. The incident is being analysed to determine its origin and scope.”

Injury Expert Claims Kylian Mbappe Could Be Out Up To 2 Weeks
An injury expert has predicted how long Kylian Mbappe could be sidelined after he was seen nursing his foot with ice following France’s 2-0 win over Morocco in the World Cup quarter-final on Thursday night.
The Real Madrid striker boosted his Ballon d’Or credentials by scoring his 20th World Cup goal in Boston, with Les Bleus now reaching their third consecutive semi-final in the tournament. Didier Deschamps’ side have looked every bit the favourites so far as they chase a second title in the last three tournaments, with the Supercomputer predicting them to do just that.
However, the sight of Mbappe hobbling off and needing an ice pack on his foot would have been an unwelcome one for France. Concerns quickly grew that he may have suffered a recurrence of a previous issue after asking to be substituted in the 77th minute.
Injury Expert’s Analysis of Mbappe’s Injury vs Morocco
After reviewing the footage of Mbappe’s injury, Physio Scout – an X account well-known for their assessments on player injuries – has provided a timeline for his recovery, depending on the extent of his condition. They wrote (see the full post below):
“The injury seemed to have happened after Issa Diop’s challenge, which caused Mbappe’s foot to evert after a stamp on his forefoot, which can bring concern for a medial ankle sprain.
“Wide variety of possibilities here, but Mbappe & Deschamps stating that it was ‘a small ankle problem,’ should ease concerns. Likely it’s only a minor issue here. Expected Recovery Times: If contusion/minor ankle sprain: Less than 1 week If medial ankle sprain: 2+ weeks.”
They added: “Unlikely that it’s any sprain, but scans might be necessary to determine the extent of the injury. Hopefully it’s just a minor one for France, as Mbappe did try and play on.”
France’s Attack Has Les Bleues Dreaming of a Third Crown
Incredibly, only eight countries have scored more goals than Mbappe has by himself across the last three World Cup tournaments. His tally of 20 is just one behind the Netherlands and five shy of Spain. While he is a major reason why France head into every tournament believing they can go all the way, Deschamps also has plenty of other attacking options at his disposal.

Even without Mbappe’s goals, France would still rank as the joint fifth-highest-scoring nation across that period, with Ballon d’Or holder Ousmane Dembele serving as their next most reliable source of goals. Michael Olise has also played a key role creatively, with his five assists the most of any player at this year’s tournament.
The depth of France’s attacking talent is perhaps best illustrated by the fact that Desire Doue and Bradley Barcola are battling for places in the starting XI, while Rayan Cherki – one of the Premier League’s standout performers last season – has been limited to just 61 minutes of action.
