Akwa Ibom State Police Command says its operatives have arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged conspiracy and murder of a 26-year-old man, late Nsikak Joshua, in Oboetim Ikot Ekong Village, Nsit Ibom Local Government Area.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John disclosed this in a statement in Uyo on Monday.

John said the case was reported at the police station on 14th July 2026 by the father of the deceased,  Mr. Ekere, aged 52.

Parts of the statement read, “He alleged that his only son was beaten to death by one Otobong Nelson, also known as “Efok Ikid,” alongside Inemesit Robert, Utibe Clement, and Victor Robert, all residents of the same village.

“The complainant further stated that on 14th July 2026 at about 8:40 a.m., the suspects allegedly brought the corpse of his son to his residence armed with spades, forcefully demanded that he indicate where the deceased should be buried, dug a shallow grave within his compound, buried the corpse, and thereafter threatened him against reporting the incident to the Police.

“Upon receipt of the report, detectives commenced immediate investigation. Acting on credible intelligence, operatives arrested Otobong Nelson and Utibe Clement on 17th July 2026 at about 3:45 a.m.

“During interrogation, the first suspect, Otobong Nelson, made a confessional statement in which he admitted that the deceased had been summoned to answer an allegation of threatening a neighbour with a machete. He further confessed that he ordered his subjects, identified as Utibe Clement, Victor Robert, and Inemesit Robert, to assault the deceased with sticks, which resulted in his death.

“The suspect also confessed that after the victim died, he and others conveyed the corpse to the deceased’s father’s compound and falsely informed him that his son had been knocked down by a hit-and-run vehicle. They allegedly advised the father not to take the body to the mortuary, after which the corpse was buried in a shallow grave within the compound.”

Following police intervention, the remains of the deceased were exhumed and deposited at the morgue for preservation and autopsy.

The spokesperson added that the Commissioner of Police has condemned the act in the strongest terms and directed that the ongoing investigation be intensified to ensure the arrest of all other suspects currently at large.

A man in Adamawa State has been arrested for allegedly beating another man so severely that the victim was pronounced dead by the time he was taken to hospital.

The Adamawa State Police Command, which made the arrest of Abubakar Musa in connection with the alleged culpable homicide of Nathaniel Yusuf, said both the suspect and the victim are from Jambutu Ward in Yola North Local Government Area.

The arrest followed a report made at the Divisional Police Headquarters in nearby Kofare by the deceased’s sister, Grace Yusuf, who narrated the alleged attack on her brother.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, who made the case public, said on Monday afternoon that after police operatives responded to the distress call, they visited the scene, rescued the victim, and rushed him to the Specialist Hospital, Jimeta, where the suspect was arrested.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim sustained severe injuries, including fractures to both legs, his right hand, and head injuries after allegedly being attacked with a stick by the suspect,” Nguroje stated.

He added that despite efforts by medical personnel to save his life, the victim was later confirmed dead by a medical doctor while receiving treatment.

“The Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, CP Kabiru Umar Hassan, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yola, to take over the case and ensure a thorough investigation and diligent prosecution of the suspect in accordance with the law,” Nguroje assured.

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 147 suspected hoodlums during a statewide operation aimed at tackling crime and improving public safety across the state.

In a post on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama, he cited Security sources who said the arrests were made during the ongoing boundary sweep operation, codenamed “Operation Ko Si Aye,” which entered Phase III on Saturday.

Police sources disclosed to Makama that the exercise was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Lawal Adeshina, and carried out simultaneously in different parts of Lagos State.

The operation reportedly commenced at about 6:00 a.m. as part of the command’s sustained efforts to rid the state of criminal elements and enhance security across communities.

During the operation, police officers arrested a total of 147 suspects and recovered unspecified exhibits believed to be linked to criminal activities.

The command said the suspects are currently in police custody, where they are undergoing profiling as investigations continue.

According to the police, the suspects will be charged to court after the conclusion of the investigation.

“The suspects are currently in police custody undergoing profiling, while investigations are ongoing,” Makama said.
