Officers of the Oyo State Police Command have rescued a kidnapped victim in the state.

DAILY POST gathered that a 17-year-old male, identified as Daneri Alhaji Yaro, was abducted in the early hours of 5 August 2026.

He was abducted at Aladere Village, via Ikoyi-Ile, near the Government Reserve Forest.

The command has, however, confirmed that the kidnapped victim has been rescued.

The command made the disclosure in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade.

The statement was made available to DAILY POST on Thursday evening.

Ayanlade said the victim was rescued by officers of the command in collaboration with other security agencies.

He said the victim was rescued unhurt.

He added that the victim has been reunited with his family.

Ayanlade said, “The Oyo State Police Command has successfully rescued a 17-year-old male, Daneri Alhaji Yaro, who was abducted in the early hours of 5 August 2026 at Aladere Village, via Ikoyi-Ile, near the Government Reserve Forest.

“Acting swiftly on the information, the Divisional Police Officer immediately mobilised a combined team comprising police operatives, members of the Amotekun Corps, local vigilantes, and hunters to the scene in a coordinated search-and-rescue mission.

“The victim was rescued unhurt and has since been reunited with his family.”

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command has rescued students of the Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Sapade, abducted by suspected armed bandits in a private students’ off-campus hostel.

Recall that the school’s Students’ Union Government, SUG, had revealed in a statement on July 29, 2026, that five students were abducted during an attack which occurred at about 7:45 p.m.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, while confirming the development said, “The students have been rescued.”

Similarly, the Ogun State Joint Campus Council of the National Association of Nigerian Students, and the National Association of Ogun State Students, confirmed the rescue in a joint statement on Thursday,

“We are delighted that the students have been rescued alive and unharmed, bringing an end to the anxiety experienced by their families, colleagues and the entire Nigerian student community,” the two students bodied said.

The appreciated the police, State Security Service, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, local vigilantes and other security agencies involved in the operation.

They urged students to be vigilant, security conscious, and support efforts to ensure that campuses and surrounding communities remain safe.

The latest development came just a day after NANS issued a 72-hour ultimatum to the state government and security agencies to rescue the abducted students, and threatened to embark on peaceful protests after the deadline.

The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old woman and a nursing officer over the alleged abduction of a one-and-a-half-year-old baby boy from the paediatric ward of Babura General Hospital.

The command’s spokesman, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists on Thursday.

According to the statement, the woman, identified as Khadija Aliyu of Kinkinau Quarters in Kaduna State, was arrested following a distress call from the hospital reporting the disappearance of the child.

Police operatives tracked the suspect to the outskirts of Babura town, where she was allegedly found in possession of the abducted child.

The police said further investigation led to the arrest of Sadik Sale Yahaya, 25, a nursing officer attached to Babura General Hospital, who allegedly conspired with the woman to carry out the abduction.

SP Shiisu said the female suspect confessed during interrogation that she had taken the child to an orphanage in Kaduna State with the intention of selling the baby for N2 million.

The rescued child has been placed in protective custody and is expected to be reunited with the family after the completion of the necessary procedures.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Tijjani Murtala, commended the operatives for their bravery and professionalism in rescuing the child and apprehending the suspects.

He also urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support crime prevention and public safety across the state.
