Crystal Palace Football Club has a long and illustrious history, with its origins in 1861. The Eagles have endured many ups and downs since then. Still, recently, they have established themselves as Premier League mainstays, and a stunning triumph over Manchester City at the end of the 2024/2025 season to win the FA Cup saw them claim Europa Conference League football this campaign.

The South London outfit have never been far from the headlines, from a top-three finish to administration woes to cheerleaders on the pitch, a certain net-busting Ivorian, and a host of scintillating academy talents. Selhurst Park has witnessed the managerial skills of some of the sport’s biggest names, with many chants created in honour of their abilities and their players.

From intriguing rivalries to passionate Palace ultras, the Holmesdale Road Stand atmosphere is not one to miss on a match day. Among the rich tapestry of Palace fan chants, few are as timeless and cherished as their roaring renditions of “Glad All Over”. This iconic anthem has been integral to the club’s soundscape for decades, uniting Palace supporters and igniting their passion for the club.

Under Oliver Glasner, the good times are starting to come back at Selhurst Park, and in this article, GIVEMESPORT will delve into the lyrics of this iconic song and explore other key chants that echo around each week, from the simplistic to the sublime.

“Glad All Over”

Crystal Palace fans.

In February 1968, following a concert held at Selhurst Park by the Dave Clark Five, their hit song “Glad All Over” became synonymous with the club and has been adopted as an anthem by the supporters. It is played at the start of all home games and after full-time (when Palace win). It has now been 60 years since the song reached number one in the UK charts. The chorus is played after home goals after the goalscorer’s name is read out. A cover version, sung by the squad at the time, was released as part of their FA Cup run (where they reached the final of the competition) in 1990. For the modern fan, the song is an integral part of being a Crystal Palace supporter.

Lyrics:

You say that you love me (say you love me),

All of the time (all of the time),

You say that you need me (say you need me),

You’ll always be mine (always be mine).

I’m feelin’ glad all over,

Yes I’m-a glad all over,

Baby I’m glad all over,

So glad you’re mine.

I’ll make you happy (make you happy),

You’ll never be blue (never be blue),

You’ll have no sorrow (have no sorrow),

‘Cause I’ll always be true (always be true).

And I’m feelin’ glad all over,

Yes I’m-a glad all over,

Baby I’m-a glad all over,

So glad you’re mine.

Other girls may try to take me away (take me away),

But you know, it’s by your side I will stay, I’ll stay.

Our love will last now (our love will last),

Till the end of time (end of time),

Because this love now (because this love),

Is gonna be yours and mine (yours and mine).

And I’m feelin’ glad all over,

Yes I’m-a glad all over,

Baby I’m glad all over,

So glad you’re mine.

Other girls may try to take me away (take me away),

But you know, it’s by your side I will stay, I’ll stay.

All of our lives now (all of our lives),

Till the end of time (end of time),

Because this love now (because this love),

Is only yours and mine (yours and mine).

And I’m feelin’ glad all over,

Yes I’m-a glad all over,

Baby I’m-a glad all over,

So glad you’re mine.

I’m so glad you’re mine now,

I’m so, I’m so glad you’re mine,

I’m-a so glad you’re mine now,

Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa…

Eagles! Eagles!

An incredibly simple chant, but it represents a fiercely loyal fan base. The Eagles nickname, given to Palace supporters, dates back to the early 1970s when the club was managed by Malcolm Allison. Before the 1973/74 season, the club decided to change both the nickname and the kit colour. This decision was heavily influenced by Allison.

The nickname went from being The Glaziers to The Eagles and the kit went from claret and light blue to a bolder red and blue. The badge was also updated with a new eagle as the emblem.

The reason behind the adoption of the eagle was influenced by the Portuguese side Benfica, who were one of the top teams in Europe at the time, and their nickname was Águias, which translates to Eagles. Allison wanted to replicate their success and thought that having a stronger nickname for the fans to chant could help.

Lyrics:

Eagles,

Eagles,

Eagles….

From Father to Son

The origins of Crystal Palace in its current form is a topic of debate among the supporters, with some fans claiming the club as they know it now only started in 1905, when it became professional. Others feel that the team called ‘Crystal Palace’ in 1861, were the spiritual genesis of the club that continued on from the 1900’s. This chant certainly feels that 1861 is the true origin date of the club.

Lyrics:

From father to son,

Born in South London,

Era and era,

Since 1861

Red and Blue Army

The iconic red and dark blue colours of Crystal Palace have been synonymous with the South London club home kit for many a season. This chant references those iconic colours and sometimes includes the name of the current manager, e.g. “Neil Warnock’s Red ‘n’ Blue Army”.

Lyrics:

Red ‘n’ Blue Army,

Red ‘n’ Blue Army,

Red ‘n’ Blue Army,

Red ‘n’ Blue Army…

(contd)

We Love You, We Love You

Loyalty is the name of the game with this chant. The Palace fans show an undying passion for their football club.

Lyrics:

We love you, we love you, we love you,

And where you play we follow we follow we follow,

Cos we support the Palace, the Palace, the Palace,

And that’s the way we like it we like it we like it,

Whoaaaaaaa whoaaaaaaaaa…

Wahey Hey Wilfred Zaha

A true icon of the club, Wilfred Zaha was raised on Rothesay Road, just yards away from Selhurst Park, and has gone on to become a Crystal Palace legend and is widely regarded as the best player to ever pull on the red and blue shirt. Joining the club’s academy at the age of eight, he made his debut for the first team at age 17 and went on to make 458 senior appearances in red and blue. Zaha scored 90 goals, including 68 in the Premier League; was voted the club’s Player of the Season in three consecutive years; and became one of world football’s most consistently exciting forwards.

It was also the Ivorian, who won the penalty in extra-time of the 2013 Championship Play-off Final, allowing Kevin Phillips to convert from the spot and triggering a new era in Palace’s history in the Premier League – where the Eagles have remained ever since. Zaha’s legendary contribution to the club’s success was recently immortalized in the unveiling of a mural next to Selhurst Park, in front of his family and closest friends, and this chant will ring around the stands for many generations to come.

Lyrics:

La la la la, La la la la,

Wahey hey, Wilfried Zaha,

La la la la, La la la la,

Wahey hey, Wilfried Zaha…

Mateta’s in the Room

From a player of old, to a current fan favourite in Jean Phillipe Mateta. The Frenchman has been in electric form and has rediscovered his best under Oliver Glasner. This hysterical chant is infectiously catchy and is a modern great among the supporters, being chanted home and away, but it is especially raucous when Mateta finds himself on the scoresheet, which has been a regular occurrence since the arrival of Glasner to the dugout.

Lyrics:

Boom boom boom,

Mateta’s in the room,

There ain’t no striker better,

Than Jean Phillipe Mateta…

Pride of South London

Based in the London Borough of Croydon, Crystal Palace fans have always considered themselves as supporting the best club in the South of London, if not the whole world.

Lyrics:

We’re the pride of South London,

South London’s number 1,

You know it’s true,

We’re red and blue

Woaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa,

Woaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa,

Eoeoooooooooooooo,

Eoeoooooooooooooo,

(Repeat)

When I Was a Young Boy

Supporting Crystal Palace is a life-long commitment and is passed down through generations that preceded them.

Lyrics:

When I was a young boy,

My father said to me,

Listen here my son ur CPFC,

Here, we are,

You’ll know us by our noise,

Pride of South London,

The famous Palace boys…

CPFC!

Another simple but iconic chant, based around the club’s full title in an acronym form. It is regularly sung by supporters all around Selhurst Park.

Lyrics:

CPFC,

CPFC,

CPFC,

CPFC,

CPFC…

Thomas Tuchel Shares Bukayo Saka Injury Issues Ahead of World Cup

Published

on

By

Thomas Tuchel has shared some worrying comments about Bukayo Saka just days before England get their 2026 World Cup campaign underway.

England begin their bid to become world champions for the first time since 1966 on Wednesday, June 17 when they face Croatia in Arlington, Texas.

They play Ghana in Boston on Tuesday, June 23 before concluding their group campaign against Panama on Saturday, June 27 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

England have one of the strongest squads in world football and go into the tournament as one of the favourites. However, they may not be at full strength with Tuchel revealing Saka’s injury issues.

Saka, when fully fit, is one of England’s first names on the teamsheet. He has nailed down his place on the right of England’s front three over the last few years.

However, the 24-year-old has been struggling with injuries over the last few months. He suffered an achilles injury in March, which kept him out of action for around a month.

Tuchel has revealed that Saka is still not 100% following that injury, to the extent that he can’t even complete consecutive training sessions.

Speaking ahead of England’s friendly against Costa Rica, Tuchel said, per the Guardian: “Declan is on 100% and Bukayo is still getting there, playing through discomfort at the end of the season … obviously managing it and playing at a high level but still not on his 100%,” Tuchel said. “He is the one we are building and taking care of in training. Declan is 100%, Ebs is 100%, Noni is 100%.

“Bukayo is just not there yet. Some things are missing… consecutive trainings. They took very good care of him [at Arsenal] and were very aware of it and we will do a little bit the same. He is at the moment not able to do every training session through the week and then play. He is still going to be managed.

“Arsenal brought him back [at the end of April] and he was straight away decisive. And then they decided together – Bukayo and Arsenal – to let him play through his pain and discomfort, even if it was not possible to train the whole week in the buildups. I think it is very unlikely Bukayo starts and finishes all the matches from now on.”

Tuchel Speaks About Jude Bellingham’s Importance

Jude Bellingham Lee Smith via Reuters

One of Tuchel’s biggest decisions ahead of the World Cup is whether Bellingham starts. Tuchel was asked about the Real Madrid star’s importance with his place in the side under scrutiny.

Tuchel said: “We have a lot of proof we can win football matches without Jude and that’s the more important headline. Jude is with us. Jude is in amazing form but we have to stop talking about individuals. Jude will not win this World Cup alone. It’s simply impossible. No one will win this World Cup alone. We win it as a team.

“I will not play this game. You [in the media] can play this game. We have Harry [Kane], we have Declan, we have Jude, we have Morgan, we have Bukayo Saka. We have big, big players and some of them will be on the bench.

“It is a long tournament and the guys we pick tomorrow [against Costa Rica], the guys we pick against Croatia are not necessarily the guys that we pick in all the games.

“They need to understand that not all of them will start all of the time at the same time. They can play decisive roles when they finish the matches. They can still be upset with my decision, angry and not aligned with my decision but they have to accept it and then push their teammates.”

Newcastle Make Contact For ‘Top Player’ After New Scouting Mission

Published

on

By

Newcastle United have made contact for an up-and-coming winger, according to The Athletic, as the Magpies look to refresh their squad heading into next season.

Eddie Howe‘s side face a tough summer transfer window, following a disappointing campaign in the Premier League, with key players set to leave the club in the coming weeks.

That process has already begun, with Anthony Gordon joining Barcelona, while links persist over the likes of Sandro Tonali, Lewis Hall, and Tino Livramento.

Those stars will need to be replaced, likely at a lower cost, with players who are capable of improving over time to get Newcastle back to the top.

With that in mind, contact has been made over one transfer target.

Newcastle Want Anan Khalaili

Anan Khalaili

According to a report from The Athletic, Newcastle have expressed interest with Union Saint-Gilloise over a possible move to sign 21-year-old winger Anan Khalaili.

It’s claimed that the Magpies are one of several teams eyeing a deal for the up-and-coming forward, as Tottenham, Bournemouth, and Napoli have also made it clear they have an interest.

There hasn’t been a concrete offer made yet, with Khalaili’s contract running until 2028 with the option of another year included in his deal with the Belgian side.

The 21-year-old has been at USG since 2024, after signing from Maccabi Haifa, where he has since progressed to become a regular starter for his club with 99 appearances to his name.

In the past season, Khalaili has made 52 appearances with six goals and six assists, with three of those finishes coming in the Champions League this campaign.

The winger’s quality has caught the eye, particularly in the European competition, having been described as a “top player” who is capable in one-on-one situations, as well as having quality with his crossing.

It may be exactly what Newcastle need out of a new recruit, but the club won’t stop there in their pursuit of new signings.

Newcastle’s Winger Transfers

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe looks on glumly

Newcastle will have several different areas to consider in the market, but forward options will be at the top of the list, following a downturn in scoring last season.

The Magpies hadn’t quite managed to replace the output of Alexander Isak, which may only be further hindered by the recent sale of Gordon to Barcelona.

Wingers will be on the mind as a result, with Khalaili not the only player that appears to be on the club’s radar heading into the summer window.

Newcastle Eyeing Move to Hijack Everton Deal to Sign ‘Amazing’ Forward

Newcastle are plotting a hijack.

Victor Munoz has been linked with a move to Newcastle, with claims that he is viewed as the perfect Gordon replacement, while the report from The Athletic claims that Koln star Said El Mala and Hoffenheim ace Bazoumana Toure have also been scouted extensively.

All of them have great potential, but it remains to be seen who will be identified as the ideal option to bring success now, and in the future.

Tottenham Must Fix Transfer Mistake After Reviving Gibbs-White Interest

Published

on

By

Tottenham’s hierarchy may have plenty of regrets over the transfer business of the past, but perhaps none are quite as scarring as last summer’s market and the damage it has done.

Spurs were made to look weak at times last year, as targets came and went, with rivals left and right snapping them up instead of the Lilywhites.

In the end, very few of the arrivals in that market made the impact that many would’ve hoped for, as Tottenham narrowly avoided an embarrassing relegation from the Premier League.

After a clear warning shot from last campaign’s dismal performance, work is already being done to improve the team, erasing the ghosts of transfer windows past.

Plenty of the deals being conducted are with a view to the future, but perhaps the club would do well to look back at last year’s window to push for one star they missed out on.

Tottenham Revive Morgan Gibbs-White Interest

Morgan Gibbs-White

Last year, Tottenham missed out on a few players, one of them being Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White, after a long pursuit of the playmaker.

The England international had a £60m release clause in his deal, but his side decided to offer a new contract that would keep him at the City Ground until 2028.

Tottenham quickly moved on, with a move for Eberechi Eze falling through, before the Lilywhites eventually landed Xavi Simons for the role instead.

It hasn’t quite worked out for the Dutchman, who struggled to match the pace and physicality of the Premier League, even though there were signs that he has the quality to take control of a game.

A serious knee injury looks set to rule Simons out for a while, as Dejan Kulusevski’s condition remains unknown, Mohamed Kudus has battled injury issues, and James Maddison has only just returned from a long lay-off of his own.

With that in mind, SportsBoom reports that Tottenham are back in for Gibbs-White once again, following another impressive campaign with Nottingham Forest.

Spurs aren’t the only team in the mix, however, as Aston Villa, Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and PSG have all been listed with interest.

It’s no surprise, given the campaign Gibbs-White enjoyed, with his manager Vitor Pereira describing the star as “special” with his displays for the team.

That creates a potentially tough environment for Tottenham to operate in, especially as all their rivals have the advantage of being in Europe next season.

However, it also represents a chance to fix a mistake from last summer.

Tottenham’s Premier League Mistake

Roberto De Zerbi looks on

Tottenham made several mistakes last summer, one of them was not being able to convince Gibbs-White to make the move from Nottingham Forest.

The other is the lack of Premier League experience they brought in, which translates to stars being unable to adjust to the demands of the league as quickly.

In signing within the division, there is almost a guarantee of a base level quality that the star will bring, which was the strategy Manchester United followed when they signed Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.

The only signings made like that last summer were Joao Palhinha and Kudus. That blueprint is now one that Tottenham are following closely, with Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson adding that experience of the division, while pursuits are ongoing for Jan Paul van Hecke and Savinho.

Tottenham Want ‘Unbelievably Fast’ Winger As Arsenal Walk Away

Tottenham continue to look through the market for potential forward targets, with one star now on the radar

Throwing Gibbs-White into the mix would not only fix the error of missing out on the star, who showed his worth with the individual displays for Forest, but it will add that proven ability to the team.

Spurs must add that extra quality, especially in the midfield, to get the team moving in the right direction once again, and that starts with throwing everything at landing the Nottingham Forest star.
