Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim will not hand Marcus Rashford an opportunity to reignite his Old Trafford career if La Liga heavyweights Barcelona opt against keeping him on board beyond the end of the season, GIVEMESPORT senior football correspondent Ben Jacobs has revealed.
Although the Red Devils’ academy graduate joined the Blaugrana on an initial loan switch during the summer transfer window, after it became clear that he had fallen down the pecking order and would be starved of game time, the Spanish giants have an option to buy him for in the region of £26million.
Rashford Does Not Have Red Devils Future After Loan
Rashford will not play for Manchester United again as plans have been made to sell him to another suitor if Barcelona choose not to turn his temporary spell into a permanent move, according to Jacobs, resulting in influential figures at Old Trafford being unfazed when it emerged he had turned up late for a team meeting ahead of his loan club’s clash with Getafe last weekend. The respected journalist told GMS:
“I don’t think Manchester United looked at that meeting and took anything from it. He was a couple of minutes late but, by the same token, Rashford has made a very positive start at Barcelona on the training field and, of course, in games, most notably by scoring two excellent goals against Newcastle United.
“Manchester United have never doubted the talents of Marcus Rashford. It’s just about him being the right fit on and off the field. It’s clear that Rashford doesn’t have a future at Manchester United. But the off-field behaviour, good or bad, is not really being discussed or digested by the leadership team at Manchester United.”
Rashford has been described as ‘world-class’ by Barcelona, highlighting how highly he is rated behind the scenes, but he was unable to win over Manchester United boss Amorim following the Portuguese tactician’s appointment as the sacked Erik ten Hag’s successor midway through last season.
The 27-year-old England international was given the green light to join Aston Villa on loan for the second half of last term, allowing him to feature in the Champions League, but the Midlands outfit refused to take advantage of the £40million option to make him a permanent member of their squad and that resulted in him heading back to Old Trafford.
GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano also confirmed this week that Rashford’s teammate Andre Onana is also ‘unlikely’ to play for United again after completing a loan move to Trabzonspor this summer.
