13 Favourites to Sign Liverpool Star Named

Published

on

The 13 favourites to sign Mohamed Salah have emerged as Liverpool find themselves caught between a rock and a hard place. While the club’s dip in form was initially the biggest headache, whispers about the future of their greatest player of the last decade are now dominating the frontpages, having gone nuclear with his discontent.

Speaking openly to the press after the Premier League champions’ 3-3 draw at Leeds on Saturday, the Egyptian King finally broke his silence. Salah spoke of feeling “thrown under the bus” by someone at the club and revealed that his relationship with the manager has deteriorated significantly since last season after being benched for a third successive league fixture as the Reds endure a run of three winless matches and now find themselves straddling 11 points behind league leaders Arsenal.

Behind the scenes at Anfield, Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes now face their toughest few weeks as the ones calling the shots. Salah’s words appear to hand them a stark ultimatum: sack Slot and find someone who can quickly get the best out of him and his teammates, or risk losing Salah for a half-price fee in January – without the proper sendoff he undoubtedly deserves.

The 13 Favourites To Sign Mohamed Salah

Salah and Slot

13. Chelsea – 20/1

Under Todd Boehly’s devil-may-care transfer policy, Chelsea continue to sign wingers like they are going out of fashion. If anything, they have too many, but that probably wouldn’t stop them from raiding Liverpool for Salah if they were handed the opportunity. He briefly played for the Blues, but his time at Stamford Bridge almost ruined his career before it got started, and the Reds’ hierarchy aren’t foolish enough to let him go to a direct rival.

12. Al Qadsiah – 20/1

All has gone unusually quiet in Saudi Arabia in their quest to rival Europe as a genuine footballing force. But the uncertainty surrounding Salah’s immediate future could reignite their interest. With the two-time Premier League Player of the Season having attracted bids of up to £150 million just two summers ago, it wouldn’t be surprising if Saudi Pro League sides came knocking once again.

11. Al Khaleej – 20/1

Currently sitting sixth in the Saudi Pro League, the only household name Al Khaleej currently boasts is former Bournemouth forward Joshua King. Other than that, they haven’t been caught up in the transfer market storm of clubs around them, but signing Salah would be a massive statement of intent.

10. Real Madrid – 20/1

Already weary of seeing Real Madrid – who have beaten them in two separate Champions League finals over the last decade and then added insult to injury by signing Trent Alexander-Arnold – Liverpool would see Los Blancos landing Salah as the final nail in the coffin for any remaining respect they have for their European rivals. Linking back up with the right-back that unlocked his best form would be tempting, though.

9. Roma – 16/1

Italian giants Roma must be fuming at Liverpool for boasting two of their former stars in Salah and Alisson. But could a return to the club that helped him reignite his playing days – and earn a career-defining move to Anfield in the first place – be on the cards? Working under Gian Piero Gasperini in Serie A could help the Egyptian maintain his competitive edge, while also fulfilling his desire to stay playing at the highest level.

8. Inter Miami – 16/1

Inter Miami are the dominant force in the MLS at the moment, and a lot of that is down to Lionel Messi, who scored 33 goals and produced 24 assists in 35 appearances in 2025. Just imagine how devastating he would be with Salah alongside him and Luis Suarez just ahead.

7. Al Ettifaq – 16/1

It’s a shame that a move to Al Ettifaq wouldn’t see Salah plying his trade under Steven Gerrard, the well-respected Liverpool legend who briefly managed the side last year. But it would see him reunite with Georginio Wijnaldum, and that’s enough of a feel-good story by itself.

6. Paris Saint-Germain – 12/1

There’s not a squad in Europe more exciting right now than Luis Enrique’s setup at PSG. Almost guaranteed to win every domestic honour each season and regularly among the favourites to lift the Champions League like they did last term, Salah would slot in perfectly at the Parc des Princes. Competition for places, however, could be fierce.

5. Napoli – 8/1

A move to the Italian champions would allow Salah to continue racking up trophies. He already boasts a Champions League and two Premier League titles, but linking up with Napoli could help tighten their stranglehold over the rest of the boot-shaped country. For neutrals, watching Kevin De Bruyne thread perfect passes behind the defence for Salah to chase would be a dream come true.

4. Al Ahli – 8/1

Al Ahli president Khaled Al-Eissa continued to maintain that Mo Salah was ‘top of the list’ of dream signings even immediately after signing a new contract at Liverpool back in May. That long-term admiration could be the driving force behind Saudi Pro League’s fourth-placed side’s pursuit of securing him in a deal that will likely cost far less than initially thought.

3. Al Hilal – 7/1

Should Salah opt to sign for Al Hilal, then he would be tasked with filling the void left behind by Neymar, who is now back in his home country and with Santos. Four points behind Al Nassr in the table, the feeling is that they are one good attacker away from continuing their dominance in the Middle East, and Salah would be the crown jewel of a very successful side.

2. Al Nassr – 7/1

Salah’s link-up play with Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane was the stuff of legend under Jurgen Klopp. Now imagine if Firmino were replaced with Cristiano Ronaldo – well, should Al Nassr be the 33-year-old’s destination of choice, that would likely form the Saudi club’s front three. It’s unclear whether Mane would be keen on a reunion given their past bickering, but the scenario would make for a truly timeless narrative.

1. Al Ittihad – 5/1

Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, Houssem Aouar, Moussa Diaby, and former Liverpool teammate Fabinho – while Al Ittihad aren’t as successful as other Saudi clubs, it looks like their project could be the most exciting going forward. They are the current favourites to sign Salah, and given the winger’s track record of elevating the performances of those around him, he could be exactly what the Jeddah-based side need to realise their true ambitions.

Roy Keane Names His 3 Greatest England Players in History

Published

on

By

England’s passage through to the World Cup round of 16 has set up a fearsome task against Mexico at the Estadio Azteca, a venue where the hosts have been near enough unbeatable for over half a century.

Speaking on The Overlap’s Stick to Football podcast, Roy Keane, Gary Neville, Ian Wright and Jill Scott turned their attention to the size of that challenge, with the altitude in Mexico City cited as one of the toughest examinations any visiting side can face.

Before that, though, the panel were still coming to terms with Harry Kane’s heroics in the round of 32 against DR Congo, where the captain’s second-half brace dragged England from the brink of an embarrassing exit.

The altitude at the Azteca has historically caused visiting sides all manner of problems, with fatigue setting in far quicker than players are used to closer to sea level. It’s a factor that’s contributed to Mexico’s remarkable home record stretching back decades, and one that could prove just as significant as anything Thomas Tuchel’s side encounter tactically on the pitch.

Kane’s display and England’s win against DR Congo proved the catalyst for a debate the panel couldn’t resist getting stuck into, and it didn’t take long for a consensus to emerge. Keane, along with Neville, Wright and Scott, settled on Bobby Charlton, Bobby Moore and Kane as England’s three greatest players in history. In that order.

After confirming Kane was on the list, Keane went further in his praise for the Bayern Munich man:

“Who did you think was going to score today?”

It’s a verdict that places Kane alongside two icons of England’s 1966 World Cup-winning side. For a current player to be mentioned in the same breath speaks to just how highly Kane is now regarded by those who have watched and played the game at the highest level.

Kane’s case for inclusion goes further than one brace against Congo. He arrived at this summer’s World Cup as the most in-form striker in the world, is England’s all-time leading goalscorer, and his second goal saw him move above Pele in the all-time World Cup scoring charts.

What separates Kane from other prolific forwards is his consistency at the very top level, both for club and country, over more than a decade. He has carried the goalscoring burden for England throughout multiple tournaments, often dragging his side through difficult moments much like he did against Congo, and his continued influence at 32 shows no sign of slowing down as this World Cup reaches its business end.

Ben Jacobs Says Man Utd Have ‘Muscled’ Into Race for Next N’Golo Kante

Manchester United‘s search for a new holding midfielder goes on, and the latest reports suggest they will pursue a current World Cup standout. Michael Carrick has a few needs to address this summer, and business has been relatively slow so far, although that is not abnormal during a World Cup summer.

Ederson has been snapped up from Atalanta, but the Red Devils still want to find a more natural replacement for Casemiro, who left the club at the end of his contract. Wherever you look at the top of the game, teams are able to call upon elite holding midfielders, so it’s not a position United can fail to address.

Tottenham managed to win the Mateus Fernandes race, but United may go even younger in their midfielder search.

According to GiveMeSport’s Ben Jacobs, United have now muscled their way into the race to sign Morocco star Ayyoub Bouaddi, who has emerged as one of the brightest young talents at this World Cup. Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for the 18-year-old this summer, but the race is not over.

The midfielder’s current club, Lille, are said to be asking for €80million this summer, which works out at around £68.5million. More than one club could agree to that fee this summer, giving Bouaddi a pick of clubs.

At just 18 years of age, Bouaddi has gone head-to-head with some of the top midfielders in the world this summer, including Casemiro, and he has looked very comfortable in a Morocco side that asks a lot of midfielders. The African nation play a brand of football that asks midfielders to win back the ball and drive forward quickly, playing with a rapid transition.

The question for United will be whether they feel as though Bouaddi is ready to play week-in, week-out at Premier League level. The Red Devils are only going to sign one midfielder for that kind of money this summer, so they need to be sure about their target being a ready-made starter.

Morocco boss Mohamed Quahbi has said of Bouaddi this summer: He plays with a lot of maturity and class. He’s the type of player that I always love having in my team. He always plays with his head up and carries himself with real authority. He’s a modern player and is super intelligent – it’s a pleasure to be able to work with him.”

Elsewhere, BBC pundit and former Arsenal and France striker Olivier Giroud has said: “He is a complete player and can perform several roles. He moves everywhere on the pitch. He is a little like Kanté.”

Vozinha Reveals What Lionel Messi Told Him After Argentina 3-2 Cape Verde

Published

By

It was one of the most thrilling match-ups of the World Cup so far, but few would have predicted it. Reigning champions Argentina took on tournament debutants Cape Verde and were pushed to their limits.

Lionel Messi opened the scoring with his seventh goal already this summer, but Cape Verde were able to take the game into extra-time thanks to Deroy Duarte’s leveller. Lisandro Martinez once again put Argentina into the lead, but their opponents responded with a stunning goal via Sidny Lopes Cabral.

It looked as though it could go to penalties, but Messi’s corner was flicked in by Cristian Romero, although his effort went down as an own goal after hitting Diney Borges on its way in. Cape Verde were unable to score again, with Argentina holding on for the 3-2 win.

For those watching the game, it felt like the true battle was Messi vs Vozinha, with the heroic Cape Verde goalkeeper thwarting the football legend on multiple occasions. In particular, he stood large to block the Argentines’ right-footed strike when through on goal, while he also made a couple of fine saves from free-kicks, including one which was taken quickly in a cheeky attempt to catch Vozinha out.

After the game, footage circulated online of the pair sharing a moment on the pitch and the 40-year-old goalkeeper has now revealed what Messi said to him during their embrace. As quoted by Yahoo!Sports, Vozinha explained:

“I went up to Messi after the game. He hugged me and said, You are great. Your people should be proud of you. That was incredible for me. Hearing words like that from someone like Leo Messi means a lot to me. I thanked him and said, ‘Thank you, Leo. You are the best.’ Then I asked if we could swap shirts. Leo said he would give it to me in the tunnels after the interview.”

It’s interesting that Vozinha wanted to make sure he could get his hands on Messi’s shirt after the game, as he wasn’t the only Cape Verde star who wanted a moment with the Argentiian icon. Indeed, in the mixed zone after the game, following the 39-year-old’s interview, a handful of Cape Verde players were seen waiting for the footballing great as they asked for a photo.

Messi was more than happy to oblige, with footage of the moment going viral online. He then spoke about how much respect he had for his opponents, praising their display:

“Honestly, we already knew this was going to be a very difficult match. It wasn’t a coincidence that this team didn’t lose to Spain or Uruguay. Scoring the first goal was the hardest part, and we thought it would help us control the game and play with more calm, but the exact opposite happened.

“We lost possession at times, dropped a little too deep, and couldn’t press them the way we wanted. They took advantage of their strengths and found the equaliser. We knew this was always going to be a complicated game.

“These are knockout matches, nobody gives you anything for free. Some people might underestimate certain teams because of their names, but we knew this was never going to be an easy match. That’s what makes this World Cup so special. Everything is incredibly close, and every single game is extremely difficult.”
