Tottenham Set to Approach Pochettino Clone Andoni Iraola to Replace Tudor

Published

on

Tottenham Hotspur can now begin work on appointing their next permanent manager, following the confirmation that Igor Tudor will be interim boss for the remainder of the season.

The Croatian has been tasked with not only leading Spurs away from relegation trouble – they currently lie in 16th position and five points above 18th-placed West Ham United – but also to help them advance further in the Champions League too.

The 47-year-old has an impressive record in the closing stages of seasons, having joined Lazio and Juventus in March 2024 and 2025 respectively, leading both clubs to five wins and three draws in nine games at the end of the campaign.

While you would imagine Tudor could be a contender to stay at Tottenham permanently should he overachieve in the next few months, GIVEMESPORT senior reporter Fabrizio Romano says Spurs have already made the decision for the Croat to leave and be replaced by a permanent manager in the summer.

According to GIVEMESPORT sources, a return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for Mauricio Pochettino could have a strong likelihood of happening with the Argentine one of their top two targets, alongside free-agent Roberto De Zerbi.

There is no doubt that Pochettino would be welcomed back by Spurs fans with open arms, given the strong relationship they had during his five-year reign previously.

Supporters showed how much they still love the 53-year-old as they chanted his name during the defeat to Newcastle United last week, which proved to be Thomas Frank’s final game in charge.

The north London club were unable to secure Pochettino now however, as he will stay as the USA coach to manage them at their home World Cup this summer.

Tottenham Could Land ‘Pochettino Clone’

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola watching on from the touchline

According to GIVEMESPORT sources, Tottenham are expected to make an approach for Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola in the coming months.

Interestingly, the Spanish manager’s contract at the Vitality Stadium is up at the end of the season, with no progress yet in agreeing a new deal despite Cherries sporting director Tiago Pinto previously telling GMS that he wants the 43-year-old to stay.

Iraola continues to impress on the south coast, with the club lying in the top half of the Premier League despite losing a host of their best players in recent times.

Football London correspondent Alasdair Gold has labelled him a ‘Pochettino clone’ because of the job he has done at Bournemouth and his desired style of play, while Sky Sports pundit Sam Tighe told GMS that the Spaniard is ‘the best young coach in the world’.

One issue that Spurs may have though, is that GMS understands Iraola is ready to say no to the job and would need some convincing to join Tottenham, given how Thomas Frank fared having made the jump from Brentford.

Would Iraola be Good at Tottenham?

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola

GIVEMESPORT asked ChatGPT if Iraola would be a good permanent appointment for Tottenham, and this is what they said.

  • Style of play: Andoni Iraola favors aggressive pressing, vertical transitions, and high tempo—well-suited to Tottenham Hotspur’s athletic attackers. However, his risk-heavy system can leave defensive gaps, which Spurs have struggled with in recent seasons.
  • Team philosophy: Spurs traditionally value progressive, front-foot football. Iraola’s proactive approach aligns with that identity, but he has limited experience managing elite squads expected to dominate possession weekly.
  • Track record & adaptability: He impressed at AFC Bournemouth, improving cohesion and intensity, yet he lacks Champions League pedigree and sustained top-four pressure experience.

While he could be a good appointment for Tottenham, they may have their work cut out to convince him to join.

Brock Lesnar’s New 4-Word WWE T-Shirt is So Rude Netflix Have Censored it

Published

on

By

What Netflix show on their live broadcast of WWE Raw and what they show on their replay version are two entirely different things, as proven by Brock Lesnars new T-shirt which was worn this past week.

Of course, when a show is being aired live, there’s not much people can do about what goes out and what gets shown on TV screens around the world. However, when the same show is being watched at a later date, the people behind the scenes can rewatch what went out and make edits where they see fit.

Netflix is doing this a lot with WWE content as of late, but it’s not really known if it’s people at the streaming platform making the decision, or WWE officials themselves seemingly changing their minds on what goes out. It would make more sense for it to be the former, because if WWE had problems with it being shown, they wouldn’t put it on in the first place, surely?

Netflix’s Edits of WWE Content

Interestingly enough, it’s not just Lesnar’s new T-shirt from this past week that has been censored or edited by Netflix, as they’ve been seen doing similar in the past.

When Bron Breakker was taking on Seth Rollins in a Steel Cage Match at Night of Champions, on the replay version of the show, his bloodied face was fully censored out, as seen in the X post above. Whereas, on the live show, his face was on full display due to the fact they can’t edit what’s being streamed live.

That’s not the only other case, either. Netflix have been quick to edit ‘Holy s***’ chants to a more family-friendly ‘This is awesome’ chant, and Cody Rhodes‘ bloodied face on a recent episode of SmackDown was also not shown on the replay version.

Clearly, Netflix is doing all they can to keep WWE content on their platform PG-friendly, despite the fact live shows aren’t following suit, and Lesnar’s new shirt is yet another example of that.

Brock Lesnar’s Shirt on Raw Censored By Netflix

Brock Lesnar Smiling

If you watched this past Monday Night Raw live, you would have seen Lesnar wearing a rather explicit T-shirt, with one letter removed from a certain word.

His shirt, on the live airing, read: “TALK S**T GET HIT.”

However, on the replayed version of Raw, the shirt read: “TALK GET HIT.”

Clearly, the edited version doesn’t make any sense at all, as they’ve removed the ‘s***’ word entirely, despite the fact it’s starred out anyway.

If Netflix continues to be this strict with what they show on their replay version of live shows, WWE may have to rethink what they do in the first place, because Lesnar’s shirt simply makes no sense once the streaming platform has edited it.

Graeme Souness Slams Declan Rice and Elliot Anderson After England 1-2 Argentina

Published

Graeme Souness has launched a damning attack on England midfielders Declan Rice and Elliot Anderson after the Three Lions crashed out of the World Cup at the hands of Argentina on Wednesday evening in Atlanta.

Thomas Tuchel’s side surrendered their lead late on, conceding twice in the final five minutes to end their dreams of becoming the first England team to win a major tournament since 1966. Lautaro Martinez’s 92nd-minute header won the tie for the South American nation, providing Three Lions supporters with yet another devastating gut punch.

England have received significant criticism for the way they approached the game after going a goal up, with the majority of this scrutiny aimed at Tuchel.

However, Scotsman Souness has gone down a different route, firing digs at two of the team’s star players.

Rice and Anderson started together in the middle of the park for England once again against Argentina. The two players have become staple figures in Tuchel’s side, with Rice fighting off injury and illness to feature as much as possible at this tournament.

Despite largely impressing in North America this summer, the double pivot weren’t at their best against Lionel Scaloni’s outfit, and this prompted Souness to launch an unhinged existential rant about the pair.

“(Anderson is) 22, so he’s got a chance of getting better,” the former Sky Sports pundit said on Sports Uncensored.

“Declan won’t get any better, he’s looking as good as he’ll get at 27.

“I don’t see enough football in the two of them. I see them as players who’ll recycle the ball… but I don’t see them hurting people.

“If you wanted the polar opposite to those two, the night before you see arguably the best one in the world at that, and has been for a couple of years, in Rodri. [Spain] go a goal up, and he’s still getting on the front foot by his choice of pass, not running with it unnecessarily and not going square all the time.

“He’s a proper midfield player. I think these two young lads – certainly in Anderson’s case, young lad – are limited. Declan Rice, for me, limited. You hear people talk about Declan Rice, ‘a world-class footballer’ … I think he might be a centre-half.

“There’s nothing to dislike about him in terms of his attitude to the game, nothing to dislike about him in his athleticism, nothing to dislike about him in his commitment from the first minute to the last minute.

“My criticism of him is he doesn’t have enough football in him. They talk about, ‘look how he runs with the ball’. As a centre midfielder, you shouldn’t do [it]. And the reason people run with the ball is they don’t see the picture quick enough…

“You don’t wanna carry the ball really well. I’ve got Declan Rice running with the ball, runs 20 yards, is confronted by an opposition player, the handbrakes goes on and he passes it square.”

Graeme Souness’ Criticism of Rice and Anderson is Harsh

Elliot Anderson Declan Rice

Against Argentina, Rice and Anderson were victims of England’s negative approach after scoring. While both players may have been slightly culpable of not trying to slow the game down and control possession, there was ultimately little they could do when on the ball due to the team’s general deep shape, which was a symptom of Tuchel’s game plan.

Souness rarely opts for the quiet, reasoned argument, preferring to sway towards sensationalism. This criticism is certainly harsh, and feels like he’s desperately trying to elicit a strong take where there doesn’t need to be one.

Rice has just won the Premier League and has been named in the PFA Team of the Year two seasons on the bounce. He’s widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in the world, yet Souness believes he’s a centre-half because he struggled in difficult circumstances in a World Cup semi-final, whilst playing half-fit.

Meanwhile, Anderson has just earned a £116 million move to Manchester City after enjoying a spectacular season with Nottingham Forest. Both players regularly ranks near the top of progressive passing tables, indicating that they can both get on the ball and ‘hurt’ the opposition.

Jurgen Klopp Defends Thomas Tuchel After England 1-2 Argentina

Published

Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has spoken out about Thomas Tuchel’s approach during the second half of England’s World Cup semi-final defeat to Argentina.

The Three Lions crashed out of the international tournament in devastating circumstances in Atlanta on Wednesday, conceding a 92nd-minute winner from Lautaro Martinez. Tuchel’s side were five minutes from booking their place in the country’s first World Cup final since 1966, but let their lead slip at the death.

Anthony Gordon’s opener was cancelled out by Enzo Fernandez’s strike and Martinez’s header, condemning England to yet more tournament heartbreak.

While Tuchel has faced significant criticism for some of the pragmatic decisions he made in the latter stages at the Atlanta Stadium, Klopp has now publicly defended his compatriot.

After going 1-0 up in the 55th minute, England retreated 10 yards or so, opting to sit deep in a compact shape to try and see the game out. Tuchel clearly leaned on this defensive approach, introducing the likes of Ezri Konsa, Dan Burn and Nico O’Reilly from the bench.

The Three Lions finished the match with 36% possession, five total shots and just 0.53 expected goals. Unsurprisingly, with things not ultimately panning out in the way Tuchel would’ve hoped, the German has come in for criticism for his contributions to this failure.

However, Klopp has stood up for the ex-Chelsea boss, arguing that if the England manager had opted for a more expansive approach, he would’ve been lamented if they didn’t progress. These comments have subsequently gone viral.

“People always speak after the game like coaching is easy – like you just choose ‘attack’ or ‘defend’ and that’s it,” Klopp explained to the Telegraph.

“It doesn’t work like this. Football is much more complex.

“I see the criticism of Tuchel for trying to defend the 1-0 against Argentina, but let me tell you something – if he didn’t do that, if he kept pushing forward and they conceded, the same people would be here saying, ‘Why didn’t he control the game? Why didn’t he defend the lead?’ In knockout football, whatever decision you make, someone will criticise you.

“I’m not saying every decision is perfect, but you have to understand the logic behind it. Managing a game at that stage is never simple.

“And then there’s another reality. This Argentina team, the belief, the mentality – sometimes it feels like something special is with them in these moments.”

Tuchel May Have Lost Control of his Team Against Argentina

Thomas Tuchel REUTERS/Agustin Marcarian

In reality, it’s very plausible that Tuchel didn’t want his team to become so passive after scoring. While his late substitutions did indicate that he was trying to hold on to the narrow lead rather than build on it, these changes came late in the game when sitting back was the correct ploy – going gung-ho at this point would’ve been naive.

However, in the period after scoring, before the final 15 minutes or so, England were far too defensive, and this may not have been what Tuchel was looking for from his players.

In fact, Harry Kane revealed after the match that the messaging from the coaching staff was to keep pushing forward after scoring, and the striker claimed that he was bemused as to why the players were unable to oblige.

Evidently, Tuchel wasn’t able to communicate his tactical instructions to his players, and this suggests that he may ultimately have lost control of his team as the semi-final wore on.
