NFL GM Thinks Tyreek Hill is ‘Done’ After Devastating Injury

Published

on

In his prime, Tyreek Hill was undoubtedly one of the best wide receivers in the NFL.

Hill, nicknamed Cheetah for his blazing speed, was football’s top deep threat and one of the most electrifying ball carriers in the league for the better part of the last decade.

Drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft out of West Alabama, Hill quickly became one of the top pass catchers in the NFL, earning a Pro Bowl nod — the first of eight straight — in his rookie season.

He developed great chemistry with quarterback Patrick Mahomes, helping lead the Chiefs to a Super Bowl title in 2019. After six seasons in Kansas City, Hill was traded to the Miami Dolphins in 2022.

The Georgia native put up consecutive 1,700-yard seasons to start his time in South Florida, including a league-best 1,799 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2023.

Unfortunately, Hill’s production fell off a cliff in 2024, racking up just 959 yards and six touchdowns as the Dolphins went 8-9.

To make matters worse, Hill appeared in just four games in 2025 after suffering a gruesome knee injury in Week 4 against the New York Jets. He underwent surgery to repair a dislocated left knee and multiple torn ligaments, including his ACL, the following day.

The injury all but ended Hill’s time in Miami, as the Dolphins decided to release the 31-year-old on Feb. 16, making the five-time All-Pro a free agent again.

Hill took to social media with a message to fans after being released, claiming he is “all the way turned up and locked in” this offseason.

“Every chapter in life has taught me something. This one taught me leadership, resilience and mostly gratitude,” Hill wrote Monday on Instagram. “The love I have for this game is unexplainable. And right now, this offseason, for the first time ever, The Cheetah is all the way turned up and locked in. Focused. The Cheetah don’t slow down, ever.”

But as he recovers from a serious injury, and with his prime years behind him, it seems some around the NFL are skeptical about Hill’s playing future.

Hill ‘Isn’t a Difference-Maker Anymore’

Tyreek Hill

Speaking to NFL insider Jason La Canfora, an anonymous NFL general manager said he’s not at all interested in pursuing Hill in free agency, claiming his days as an impactful player are “done.”

“We aren’t touching him. No chance. We think he’s done. He isn’t a difference-maker anymore. The juice isn’t worth the squeeze. Not even as a vet-minimum guy for us,” the GM said.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter believes it’ll be a while before Hill signs with a new team, depending heavily on his recovery and availability in 2026.

“As great as he was, I don’t think he’s close to being ready this. He’s going to miss some time to open the year. I think he starts the year out on the physically unable to perform list,” Schefter said on “Pardon My Take” on Friday. “When is he going to be ready? Is it the mid-way point? Is it later in the season? What’s he going to look like?

“I don’t think we’ll get a deal for Tyreek Hill until well into the offseason. That isn’t going to be one of those Day-1 (signings). First of all, he’s free right now. He could sign right now, but you’re not going to see a deal quick with him, I believe.”

Crystal Palace Want to Hire Frank Lampard if Andoni Iraola Says No

Crystal Palace are keen to hire Coventry City manager Frank Lampard should Andoni Iraola reject their offer, although they also have other managers on their shortlist, according to BBC journalist Sami Mokbel.

Crystal Palace and Coventry City both enjoyed outstanding seasons for different reasons, with both ending on a high for the two clubs.

Oliver Glasner would have been disappointed to lead the Eagles to a 15th-placed finish in his final season in charge at Selhurst Park before leaving on the expiry of his contract, but he secured Europa League football for the club as they won the Conference League final against Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday night.

The south Londoners beat the Spanish side 1-0 in the final in Leipzig, to finish his reign with another major trophy and participation in a higher-quality European competition next term.

The trophy adds to the FA Cup and Community Shield the Eagles have already won under the Austrian in the last 12 months, but now they must secure his replacement as they look to prepare for a big 2026-27 campaign.

Meanwhile, Coventry stormed to the Championship title and will return to the Premier League for the first time since they were relegated in 2001.

Crystal Palace Waiting on Andoni Iraola Answer

According to BBC Sport, Crystal Palace have identified Iraola as the man they want to replace the outgoing Glasner.

The Spaniard has just left Bournemouth in similar circumstances to the Austrian, having chosen to leave at the expiry of his contract after leading the club to Europa League football.

Palace have made an offer to the 43-year-old that includes significant influence over the club’s recruitment operation, and they are said to want an answer from him by the end of the weekend.

The Eagles believe they have done all they can to convince Iraola to join them ahead of the likes of AC Milan, who have also held talks with the Spaniard, with his approval the final step needed.

Should Iraola say no to Palace, then club chiefs are ready to turn to Lampard instead.

The former Chelsea boss has admirers in the boardroom at Selhurst Park, with his stock rising even more after a dominant Championship campaign with Coventry.

There is optimism in the corridors at Palace that the ‘outstanding’ LMA Manager of the Year would be open to joining them before next season despite just winning promotion to the Premier League with the Sky Blues, although taking him away from his contract at Coventry could prove to be difficult.

Palace have other names on their shortlist too, including another newly-promoted manager in Kieran McKenna of Ipswich Town, who has continually been linked with Premier League jobs after his previous spell in the top flight with the Tractor Boys.

Among the other names they have discussed are Sean Dyche, Thomas Frank and Pierre Sage, with the former two currently without a job and Sage having led Lens to a second-place finish in Ligue 1 last term.

Tottenham Consider Surprise Move For Man Utd Star

Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer picture looks much brighter heading into the summer after Roberto De Zerbi secured their survival in the Premier League.

The north London outfit are already moving forward with strengthening their squad. Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has agreed to join the club once his Anfield contract expires next month.

Spurs need to freshen up their squad after finishing 17th in the top flight for two consecutives campaigns. They will hope their injury problems will not be as momentous next season.

With the World Cup approaching, several clubs are looking to get some early business done before the tournament in Canada, Mexico and the United States takes centre stage.

Tottenham weigh up Marcus Rashford move

Marcus Rashford

Spurs have discussed the possibility of signing Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, according to the Daily Mail.

Talks are planned between Rashford and the Red Devils as he seeks more clarity on his future.

The England international spent the most recent campaign on loan at Barcelona, with the Spanish club retaining a £26million option to buy the player.

However, the La Liga champions have so far been reluctant to trigger that option as they would prefer another loan. Barca have agreed a deal to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United and are keen to sign another striker following Robert Lewandowski’s departure.

Rashford would prefer to remain with Barcelona but Spurs, along with Aston Villa and Arsenal, are reported to have discussed the potential of signing him this summer.

The 28-year-old is on £325,000-a-week at Old Trafford but it was reported last week he had agreed to take a pay cut to force through a move to Barca.

Marcus Rashford would be a huge addition to Tottenham attack

Richarlison in action for Tottenham Hotspur

Rashford, who Gordon labelled as ‘one of the best players in the world’, would seriously upgrade Tottenham’s attack for next season if Spurs intensified their interest in the United academy graduate.

Richarlison was the North London club’s top-scorer in 2025/26 with 12 goals. Tottenham’s next two best scorers were centre-back Micky van de Ven and defensive midfielder João Palhinha – with seven each.

Meanwhile, Rashford claimed 14 goals and 14 assists in 49 games in all competitions for Barca. He helped sealed the La Liga title for the club with a stunning free-kick against Real Madrid in a 2-0 victory that clinched top spot.

He impressed in the early months of his loan spell at the club, with manager Hansi Flick hailing him as ‘unbelievable‘. After an impressive start, Rashford did spend some time on the bench, starting just 18 league games.

With Spurs, he would likely be a more regular starter and help provide greater threat to their attack. Rashford had been expected to remain in Spain but now a surprise Premier League return cannot be ruled out.

LeBron James Named the NBA Star He Thinks Will Break His Scoring Record

In 2023, LeBron James achieved what many once believed was impossible by surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA’s all-time leading scorer.

The legendary Los Angeles Lakers big man had recorded 38,387 regular-season points throughout his iconic career, a total that stood untouched for decades and appeared nearly impossible to eclipse.

Everything changed, however, once LeBron entered the league and established himself as one of basketball’s most dominant forces for more than 20 years.

His remarkable durability and consistency has cemented his place among the greatest players in NBA history. After overtaking Kareem in 2023, he has continued adding to his tally and now sits at 43,253 regular-season points.

Even MJ thought this NBA Hall of Famer was his equal during the 1990s.

Despite turning 41 years old, James continues to perform at an elite standard. Very few athletes in professional sports have maintained this level of excellence for such an extended period, and as long as he remains productive, his advantage atop the scoring list will only continue increasing.

Still, LeBron was once asked which active player he believes could eventually challenge his record, and he didn’t hesitate with his answer.

LeBron James’ Pick to Overtake His Scoring Record

Although surpassing James’ scoring mark feels highly unlikely in the near future, the former Cleveland Cavaliers superstar believes one current NBA player possesses the tools to do it.

During a conversation with ESPN, LeBron was asked who he thought had the best opportunity to become the league’s future scoring king and, as reported by AS, he selected Kevin Durant.

Karl Malone Named His All-Time Starting 5 - No Michael Jordan

Karl Malone Named His All-Time NBA Starting 5 – Snubbed Michael Jordan

The Mailman gave an extremely controversial take on who he’d pick for his ideal NBA starting five.

James explained: “KD is the first guy that comes to mind. There’s a reason they call him ‘Easy Money’ and ‘Slim Reaper.’ Scoring comes naturally to him. He can knock down threes, dominate from mid-range, finish at the basket, and he’s excellent from the free-throw line as well. Those qualities matter a lot.”

The pair developed one of the defining rivalries of the modern NBA throughout Durant’s career. During the late 2010s, they battled in several NBA Finals match-ups, with LeBron representing the Cavaliers while Durant starred for the Golden State Warriors.

Kevin Durant

KD currently ranks as the second-highest active scorer in NBA history and sits fifth on the all-time list with 32,597 regular-season points. If he stays healthy, Durant could climb even higher and may potentially move past the likes of Kobe Bryant and Karl Malone.

There is still significant ground for Durant to make up before reaching LeBron’s total, as he trails by more than 10,000 points. However, few scorers in league history possess Durant’s effortless offensive skill set, and James clearly believes the Houston Rockets forward has the talent necessary to eventually make the race interesting in the years ahead.
