Man Utd Fans Slam ‘Awful’ Mbuemo and Cunha After Newcastle Defeat

Published

on

William Osula’s stunning solo goal handed Michael Carrick his first defeat as Manchester United boss, as 10-man Newcastle claimed a memorable 2-1 victory at St James’ Park.

United passed up an opportunity to consolidate their position in the top four amid a disappointing display on Wednesday night that saw the Old Trafford lose for the first time in eight games under their interim head coach.

United had a numerical advantage for the entire second half after Jacob Ramsey was controversially sent off for a second booking, following referee Peter Bankes’ decision that he had dived.

Newcastle had taken the lead late in the first half through Anthony Gordon’s penalty, only to see it cancelled out three minutes later as Casemiro met Bruno Fernandes’ corner with a powerful header just before the break.

Substitute William Osula ultimately had the final say as he netted a superb late winner to end United’s unbeaten run of seven games.

A third commented: “Mbuemo, Malacia and Cunha today, man. I’m so tired of these guys.”

One supporter criticised further: “Mbuemo and Cunha need to have a look in the mirror tonight. Absolutely shambolic.”

Another wrote: “Cunha, Mbuemo awful today. Lost us this game. Feel for Bruno.”

One noted: “Cunha & Mbuemo have been so poooor.”

Another added: “Cunha and Mbuemo have been utterly dreadful tonight.”

One fan chimed in: “Cunha and Mbuemo can’t be on the pitch at the same time, pls. Can’t even beat their man from the wing.”

Liverpool Now in Contact to Sign Bruno Guimaraes

Liverpool are one of several clubs that have been sounded out over a potential move for Bruno Guimaraes this summer, according to TeamTalk, as doubts continue to rise over the midfielder’s future at Newcastle United.

The Brazilian has emerged as a potential target for the Reds as they consider their options for the central ranks over the course of the transfer window.

Alex Scott has been linked with a reunion with Andoni Iraola, as the Liverpool boss looks to inject some energy and pace into his team in the middle of the park.

Aside from him, there may be a move for Bruno Guimaraes on the cards that could open up a path towards a surprising big-money signing.

According to a report from TeamTalk, Liverpool are among a whole host of clubs who have been contacted about a possible move for Guimaraes.

It comes after reports claimed that Arsenal had made an offer for the Brazilian midfielder, who has entered the final two years under contract at St. James’ Park.

However, they clearly aren’t alone, as Liverpool have seemingly been sounded out as a possible destination by intermediaries, along with Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Barcelona.

As it stands, Newcastle don’t wish to lose the 28-year-old, who has made 195 appearances for the club since joining from Lyon back in 2022.

However, the growing uncertainty surrounding Guimaraes’s future means that an exit could be inevitable this summer, as teams prepare to make a possible offer to the Magpies.

It’s unclear whether Liverpool will be one of those teams lining up a move following the contact for the midfielder, but it would prove to be another sign of intent from the Anfield outfit if they could get a deal over the line.

Liverpool Transfer Fund Concerns

Despite being described as “one of the best midfielders in the world”, there may be some concerns surrounding any Liverpool move for Guimaraes this summer.

The Reds are already preparing to spend upwards of £100 million to sign Yan Diomande this summer as their number-one choice to succeed Mohamed Salah on the right flank, which is likely to take up the majority of the club’s budget.

Add to that the huge signings of Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz last summer, both of whom broke the Premier League transfer record one after the other, and it’s clear that Liverpool’s squad starts to look top-heavy with its financial investments.

Adding Guimaraes into the mix, who is already 28, and it becomes tough to see the long-term planning that comes from making such a huge transfer.

It makes a deal unlikely, with Liverpool expected to turn towards budget options who they can maximise the value out of while building towards the future.

Spurs Ready to Pay ‘One of the Best Players in the World’ Mega Salary

Tottenham are reportedly willing to pay a huge wage to sign an in-form Premier League forward who is available for transfer this summer. Spurs are in the midst of perhaps the strongest recruitment drive we have seen at the club since the period after Gareth Bale’s mega-move to Real Madrid.

Roberto De Zerbi is being handed a big transfer fund after keeping the North London side in the Premier League, and four new signings have already been snapped up in Martin Dubravka, Jan Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson.

Spurs are expecting to be challenging for Europe again next season, and they know they need top-end talent to manage it.

Rashford salary could be matched

One of the latest Tottenham transfer links involved returning Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, who spent last season on loan with Barcelona. Rashford helped the Blaugrana win the LaLiga title with 14 goals and 14 assists across all competitions, and his performances saw him win back his England squad spot for the World Cup, where he has already scored.

Rashford does not appear to be wanted back at Old Trafford, even after a managerial change last season, although the decision appears to be, at least in part, financial.

It has been claimed by The Sun that Rashford’s contract has a clause that will see it rise to £325,000 per week from July 1, and having already enjoyed a strong season without the forward, United are keen to offload the sizable wage.

According to the same report, Tottenham are willing to meet Rashford’s wage demands and take on the sizable pay packet, although much could come down to how much United ask for in the way of a transfer fee.

A discounted deal is never likely for a Premier League rival, but given United want to offload Rashford’s wage, there could be some wiggle room.

Rashford returned to form with Barcelona

Rashford has shown his talent plenty of times in the past, and United heavily relied on the forward for a long period of time. Back in 2023, Mike McGrath described Rashford as one of the best in the world, writing for BBC Sport: “On the current form, with Rashford being as good as he is and one of the best players in the world, we can win the Europa League,” he said.

Things took a turn for the worse the following season when Rashford became one of a number of players to fall out with then boss Erik ten Hag. A loan spell at Aston Villa followed, but it is at Barcelona where he would rediscover his form.

With goals and assists aplenty, 14 of each, Rashford was a key part of an already ultra-talented Barca attack, and there is now belief he could be back to his best, and still only 28 years of age, there is plenty of gas still left in the tank.

Man Utd Send Official to Watch £68m World Cup Star

Manchester United sent a representative to the FIFA World Cup to watch Uruguay left-back Maxi Araujo, according to Portuguese outlet Record.

Araujo has been a standout performer since the tournament began, putting in eye-catching displays for the South Americans. He has featured twice, scoring two goals and providing one assist.

The United official picked a good game to watch the 26-year-old in action as they attended Uruguay’s 2-2 draw against Cape Verde. Araujo got himself on the scoresheet and also set up Agustin Canobbio during an entertaining affair at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

Man Utd Interest in Uruguay’s Araujo Grows

The report claims that United have been tracking Araujo throughout the 2025-26 campaign and have stepped up their interest. The scouting report from Uruguay’s draw against Cape Verde indicates the club’s admiration has grown.

Araujo is a versatile left-sided player who can play at full-back and on the wing. He made 47 appearances across competitions for Sporting CP last season, chipping in with seven goals and six assists.

United are thought to be keen on adding a new left-back to Michael Carrick’s squad to hand competition to Luke Shaw. Tyrell Malacia left following the expiration of his contract, and Shaw has nobody challenging him for a starting berth.

Carrick might also be enticed by Araujo’s versatility, given that he previously hinted that he wants a left-winger this summer. With Shaw now in his thirties, there is a need to start thinking about a long-term replacement.

How Much Sporting Want For Araujo

If United decide to make a concrete move for Araujo, they could be looking at paying around £51million for the Uruguayan. The report claims that Sporting are prepared to do business around that fee despite the inclusion of a £68million release clause in his contract.

Araujo, dubbed “explosive,” could yet extend his stay at José Alvalade Stadium, as the Portuguese giants reportedly have a plan. Once the World Cup concludes, they plan to hold talks with the player’s entourage about a new deal that would move him closer to the higher end of the club’s wage structure.

The Montevideo-born left-back has three years left on his current contract. He’s been with the club since the summer of 2024, when he arrived from Mexican outfit Toluca.

United also have Lewis Hall on their radar, and he reportedly is open to joining the Red Devils. The issue is that Newcastle United are reluctant to sell the Englishman, which could mean INEOS turn to Araujo as an alternative.
