The All-Time Premier League Table

Published

on

Summary

  • An all-time Premier League table has been compiled since the league’s inception in 1992/93.
  • Luton Town have the fewest points in Premier League history out of any team to have competed in the Premier League.
  • Despite Manchester City’s dominance in recent years, they only have the sixth-most points in the competition’s history.

Few have been able to slow the juggernaut that is Manchester City in the last decade, and they have dominated the Premier League to such an extent that few would question their status as one of the best to ever do it in the English top flight. But in terms of all-time Premier League success, they are some way behind the leaders in the all-time points table.

Transfermarkt have been through the history books and assembled a table of all 51 clubs who have played Premier League football. And while City’s recent superiority has seen them catch up to the big boys in the division, they have a long way to go before they claim top spot in this table.

After only a single season, it’s Luton Town who pick up the wooden spoon in the all-time table, amassing just 26 points in their only term in the top flight. The Hatters gave it their best shot at avoiding relegation, but finished six points adrift of safety in 2023/24. It may be a while until they’re rubbing shoulders with the best in English football, however, after facing back-to-back relegations. They are four points behind 50th-placed Swindon Town, who also only had one campaign of top flight football, although they had an extra four games back in 1993/94.

The 2023-24 Premier League season is over and GIVEMESPORT has graded the 20 teams on their performance.

No teams in the bottom 11 positions currently sit in the Premier League today. Brentford were there until the 2025/26 season, but their lengthy stay in England’s top division means they’ve now broken into the top 40 at the expense of Sheffield United, who were relegated in 2023/24.

Ipswich Town, on the back of an incredible season in the 2023/24 Championship campaign, were back in the Premier League for the first time since 2002 but only lasted one season. They are now ahead set to be overtaken by the Bees before long. At least Derby County have some way to go before they are caught, as they boast a tally of 274 points in the overall standings

Despite them being responsible for the worst season in Premier League history, the aforementioned Derby’s record ensures that they remain 38th in the all-time table, while many teams continue to trail Birmingham City, who are beginning to climb up the pyramid. It’s now been 14 years since the Blues played Premier League football, but their latest boost means it could be a short time until the Midlands club returns to English football’s highest division.

Premier League All-Time Table: 30-21

Andoni Iraola applauds Bournemouth supporters

Heading into the top 30, there are four clubs in this next batch of 10 who are currently in the Premier League. Burnley, Bournemouth, Nottingham Forest, and Brighton have all managed to build upon their points in 2025/26. That said, two of those teams look like they could drop into the Championship next season, but the other south coast teams look well-placed to add to their tallies in the coming season.

Multiple Liverpool stars have now won their second Premier League title.

The most impressive team here, however, is Wimbledon. Despite the club ceasing to exist in its old guise in 2004, they remain 26th in the all-time standings with an impressive 374 points. Home to Premier League hardman Vinnie Jones, the team from Plough Lane recorded a sixth-place finish in the 1993/94 season – their highest in the modern English top flight. Brighton, under Fabian Hurzeler, are quickly climbing up this list after notching a 61-point season last time out, although form hasn’t been so good in 2025/26.

Premier League All-Time Table: 20-11

Southampton's David Brooks

Wolves had cemented their status as a mid-table club in recent years, while their extensive history in the league ensures that they rise to 20th in the all-time table. Had this factored in the old Division One standings too, then the Old Gold would have been as high as 12th after their dominance in the 1950s saw them crowned champions on three occasions. Sadly, it looks as though they will be in the Championship in 2026/27.

Iconic teams from Premier League years gone by all make their way into the top 20, but West Brom have now fallen behind Wolves and out of the grouping. League One Bolton Wanderers, having not played top-flight football since the 2011/12 season, are firmly entrenched in 19th and are the first team to break the 500-point barrier. The famous years of Sam Allardyce and top-half finishes are a distant memory nowadays for Wanderers fans, though.

Blackburn remain 12th in the all-time table, with their Premier League success in 1994/95 forming 89 points of their impressive 970 total. Their status as a title contender in the early 90s saw them claim 305 points during the first four seasons of the league’s inception, but their dominance diminished over time. They haven’t played in the top division since their relegation in 2012.

Crystal Palace, Fulham and Leeds United have all added to their Premier League points tallies when the 2025/26 season kicks off. But Southampton, whose side from 2024/25 are widely regarded as one of the worst teams in Premier League history, will have to wait a bit longer to add to their overall tally after being demoted to England’s second tier. The same can be said of past league winners Leicester City, who now rank 14th after a season in the Championship.

Premier League All-Time Table: 10-1

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola

The top 10, though, is full to the brim of established Premier League sides who have consistently played in England’s top tier since 1992. All clubs have played over 1,000 games, with the top five all playing the maximum number.

West Ham, Aston Villa and Newcastle, having yo-yo’d between the Premier League and Championship at different points in years gone by, take up positions between tenth and eighth, although all three have still amassed impressive points totals thanks to their extensive years as Premier League powerhouses. Given the trajectories of Villa and Newcastle, you would imagine that both teams will continue to add to their tallies at an impressive rate.

Everton, having never been relegated from the Premier League, sit way behind Man City, despite playing nearly 200 games more. The Cityzens suffered two relegations in 1995/96 and in 2000/01. The club’s takeover, however, has seen their fortunes transform, and if they can continue their recent dominance for the next decade, then it is only a matter of time until they break into the top five.

Five-time champions Chelsea just trail Liverpool by 28 points in the all-time table, as the Reds’ superior win record is enough for them to claim a bronze medal, despite only lifting two Premier League titles. Were it not for Guardiola, though, the Anfield club would certainly have a more impressive trophy haul during Jurgen Klopp’s tenure in the dugout.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Jurgen Klopp collected 705 points while Liverpool manager, averaging 2.11 points-per-match.

Arsenal’s impressive years under Arsene Wenger, which saw them lift three league titles and consistently qualify for Champions League football, means that they finish second in the overall rankings. But Manchester United are in a league of their own. Only a few clubs, including the Gunners, were able to challenge the incredible teams that Sir Alex Ferguson created over the years. Be it the seasons of Roy Keane and Eric Cantona, or the later dominance of Rooney and Ronaldo, the Old Trafford machine was rarely unseated during the 90s and 2000s. While they might not be the same force now as they were back then, their history in the league speaks for itself when you look at the all-time rankings.

Neymar Hits Back at Mathematician Who Predicted Japan to Beat Brazil

Published

on

By

Neymar’s tweet immediately after Brazil’s last-gasp World Cup win against Japan has gone viral. The veteran didn’t get on the pitch, but was quick to shut up one major doubter.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men made a second-half comeback after falling behind to a Kaishu Sano strike to progress to the Round of 16, where they’ll meet either Ivory Coast or Norway. Casemiro and Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli scored the goals to send the South Americans through.

Not content with just winning in stoppage time, Brazil’s players have been on a mission to prove a point to their doubters. First, Manchester United’s Matheus Cunha was spotted shouting a five-word message to a Japan player who claimed Brazil were no longer a powerhouse.

Neymar Sends Message to Economist After World Cup Win

Now, Neymar has turned his attention to a man who predicted Japan would knock Brazil out of the biggest international competition. After the five-time world champions sealed a place in the last 16, the Santos forward jumped straight on social media.

In a tweet, which has since gone viral, the legendary attacker said: “Mr. Joachim Klement… please try again at the next World Cup.”

Gabriel Martinelli (Brazil) celebrates vs Japan at World Cup

2026 World Cup: Brazil 2-1 Japan Player Ratings and Match Highlights

A last-gasp Gabriel Martinelli winner breaks Japanese hearts.

But that left many football fans confused. Who is Joachim Klement? Well, it proves Neymar has been paying close attention to what has been said about his country this summer. Klement is a man who claims to have correctly predicted the winners of the last three World Cups.

He’s a German economist who believes he has a ‘100% accurate formula’ after predicting Germany’s triumph in 2014, France winning in Russia four years later, and Lionel Messi’s Argentina lifting the trophy in Qatar.

Ahead of this year’s competition, Klement put his algorithm to work again. In terms of the winner, he concluded that the Netherlands would win their first-ever World Cup.

But, while he did have Brazil down with a 99% chance of progressing from the group stages, Klement’s algorithm had Brazil being knocked out by Japan in the Round of 32. That clearly hasn’t happened, despite looking very possible at one stage, and Neymar made sure to remind the mathematician. See his full group stage and knockout round predictions below.

At the time of writing (June 29), Klement’s predictions for the Round of 16 fixtures look like they could be scarily accurate. Croatia vs Spain, Germany vs France and Netherlands vs Canada are games that could take place in reality, depending on results in the Round of 32.

Spain vs Belgium and Netherlands vs France could also be quarter-final fixtures he’s got spot on. Japan vs England can’t happen, but Neymar’s Brazil could meet Thomas Tuchel’s Three Lions.

Brazil are still struggling to reach their forgotten peak from decades ago, despite Carlo Ancelotti’s tournament know-how, and they got lucky again.

Klement predicted Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to meet in the quarter-final, but that now can’t happen until the final. However, most importantly, his prediction of the Netherlands winning it all could still come to fruition.

Tottenham Rocked As Man City Eye Sandro Tonali Hijack

Published

on

By

Tottenham appear to be facing some potential difficulty in landing a deal for Sandro Tonali this summer, as Marca reports that a rival is preparing a bid for the midfielder.

Spurs have been pushing to land the Italian international this summer as part of a major midfield overhaul, with the expectation of two possible arrivals in the central ranks in the coming weeks.

Talks are ongoing to sign Mateus Fernandes from West Ham, with intense competition from Manchester United for his signature along with a host of other clubs such as PSG and Real Madrid.

However, it’s Tonali that Tottenham have accelerated their interest in. Spurs have already agreed personal terms on a huge £275,000-a-week contract, per reports, and are looking to close an agreement with Newcastle to land him.

The Magpies are believed to be holding out for £100 million to facilitate an exit, a fee that clubs are looking to dwindle down to a slightly more affordable price.

But now, Spurs face the possibility of a hijack with a first offer being prepared by their rivals.

Man City Ready Sandro Tonali Offer

Sandro Tonali via Reuters

While Tottenham have been in hot pursuit of Tonali, there has been interest from rivals Arsenal and Manchester City for the midfielder as well this summer.

However, with the former backing out and the latter landing Elliot Anderson for £116 million, it seemed as though the path had cleared for Spurs to seal a deal with relative comfort.

Now, however, Marca reports that Man City are lining up a huge bid to try and tempt Newcastle to part ways with their midfield maestro in the coming weeks.

It’s claimed that a bid in the region of €110m (£95m) is being prepared by the club, who are keen to add Tonali next to Anderson as part of a new-look midfield pairing.

It comes as a huge potential blow to Tottenham, and as a possible hijack for the North London side, who may need to change their approach in negotiations with Newcastle in the transfer market.

The amount prepared by Man City is not set to meet the valuation set by the Magpies, which may see them reject a sale, but would only further reinforce how much Spurs may need to pay to land him.

Tottenham’s Challenging Market

Roberto De Zerbi via Reuters

Tottenham have done well in the market so far, landing four signings who will help bring some strength in depth across the whole of the squad.

The challenge was always going to come when other teams get involved for signings, especially if they hold the advantage in a potential battle.

Man City could offer more than Spurs, if they wish to, while there is also a certain guarantee of trophy opportunities and a chance to impress in the Champions League.

Spurs may have moved one step closer to landing another dream Roberto De Zerbi transfer target

That is tough for Tottenham to compete with, and underlines how difficult the market could be for the club moving forward into areas, such as the midfield and forward lines.

It remains to be seen whether they can convince Tonali that N17 is the best place for him, but it will be a monumental task if Man City do push ahead with a bid.

Cunha Shouts Five-Word Message After World Cup Win

Published

on

By

Manchester United forward Matheus Cunha has caused quite a stir with what he said to the Japan player who claimed that “Brazil used to be a powerhouse” ahead of his side’s dramatic 2-1 World Cup victory on Monday evening. Carlo Ancelotti and co. left it late to complete the comeback in Houston and book their place in the Round of 16.

Kaishu Sano gave Japan a shock lead just before the 30-minute mark, but a series of second-half changes helped the five-time world champions wrestle back control and put their stamp on the contest. Casemiro powered home the equaliser in the 56th minute before Gabriel Martinelli emerged as the hero off the bench, poking in a dramatic 96th-minute winner after the ball trickled beyond the goalkeeper, kissed the post and crossed the line.

While Japan are renowned for their sportsmanship, there was no shortage of needle between the two sides. Before the showdown, Kento Shiogai had talked the talk by questioning Brazil’s standing among the game’s elite. But after failing to walk the walk, Cunha wasted little time in giving him a taste of his own medicine, firing back with a pointed response of his own after the final whistle.

What Cunha Said to Shiogai in Heated Exchange After Brazil 2-1 Japan

In what Ancelotti later branded ‘mind games’, Shiogai had said: “I don’t hear much about Brazil these days,” after claiming: “Brazil used to be a powerhouse, but now only France and Argentina are strong.” He only played six minutes at this World Cup, and Cunha wasn’t prepared to let his comments slide as he could be seen saying after the final whistle (while holding up five fingers):

“Five World Cups… you small!”

Also asked about the statement from Shiogai, captain Marquinhos said he saw a bit of arrogance in the Japanese player’s attitude, but Brazil eventually found a way to get themselves over the line.

His Gesture has Caused a Stir

While many Brazilians applauded the five-word message, with one X user remarking: “He put him in his place” and another saying: “Pride and arrogance is back! That’s what we wanted!” neutrals have offered a different perspective on things.

Indeed, it seems the rest of the football world find the Man United winger’s comments a little bizarre, considering he hasn’t contributed to any of their success. In some ways, Cunha’s gesture proves his opponent right until he has something more recent to shout about, as one critic wrote: “Just setting himself up to be a meme.” Another also added:

“Cunha saying ‘5 World Cups’ as if he was part of it. Bro needs to understand that he plays for Man United, a club that hasn’t won the league in about 14 years. He needs to calm down.”
