The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested 29 suspects and recovered firearms, stolen vehicles and illicit drugs during a series of coordinated operations conducted over the past two weeks as part of efforts to combat violent crimes across the state.

Speaking at a press briefing in Kaduna, the Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Rabiu, said the successes were recorded through intelligence-driven policing, collaboration with sister security agencies and information supplied by residents.

He disclosed that those arrested include 12 suspected kidnappers, 13 persons linked to murder cases and four suspected vehicle thieves, while four stolen vehicles were also recovered during the operations.

One of the major breakthroughs, according to the commissioner, followed an operation on June 5 in which police operatives tracked a group of suspected bandits to a forest hideout in Sagamu, Ogun State after receiving intelligence on the movement of illegal arms.

The six suspects arrested in the operation were identified as Bukar Bulama, Abubakar Mohammad, Mohammad Usman, Ibrahim Sani, Aliyu Usman and Dan Bello Umaru. Officers recovered two AK-47 rifles, a pump-action shotgun, a locally fabricated pistol, 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition and four cartridges from the hideout.

Rabiu said the suspects had been brought back to Kaduna to face further investigation and prosecution.

In another operation, detectives attached to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit in Zaria apprehended Yahya Alhaji Yusuf on May 28 over allegations bordering on kidnapping, armed robbery, cattle rustling and banditry.

Police said the suspect admitted to abducting two people along the Buruku axis and collecting a ransom of N6 million, while an AK-47 rifle was allegedly recovered during his arrest.

The command also announced the arrest of Usama Tijjani, who is accused of using false identities to lure women to hotels before stealing their mobile phones and jewellery.

Investigators said the suspect confessed to defrauding more than 200 women, leading to the recovery of 20 mobile phones and gold jewellery estimated to be worth over N30 million.

Meanwhile, a joint security team led by CSP Sani Ibrahim Zuntu arrested 13 suspects during a raid on Katuga Unguwar Ruwa Village in Kagarko Local Government Area on June 11 over the deaths of Isiyaka Bijimi and Mercy Danladi.

Police linked the incident to accusations of witchcraft that reportedly sparked violence within the community. Among those arrested are Comfort Emmanuel, Ayuba Jatau and Daniel Enoch, alongside 10 others.

The command also recorded a breakthrough against drug trafficking after arresting Jamilu Ahmed and Mubarak Ibrahim in Zaria with 2,700 sachets of Tramadol. The suspects reportedly admitted distributing the drugs within the metropolis.

In its efforts to curb vehicle theft, police arrested Shamsudeen Usman for allegedly stealing a Golf III Station Wagon in Makera, Kakuri, with the vehicle later recovered along the Kaduna-Abuja highway.

Three other suspects; Shehu Muhammed, Abubakar Musa and Adamu Manu were also arrested while allegedly trying to dispose of a stolen Toyota Corolla LE in Kaduna.

In a related development, operatives recovered a Hyundai Sonata stolen at Murtala Mohammed Square after the suspected thieves abandoned the vehicle while escaping from security personnel.

The police commissioner described the operations as evidence of the command’s determination to sustain pressure on criminal elements operating in the state.

A married woman has been arraigned by the Ondo State Police Command over the alleged machete attack on her husband, an incident that reportedly left severe injuries to his left hand.
The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed that the incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on June 2, 2026, following a domestic dispute between the couple.

According to Jimoh, the suspect allegedly attacked her husband, identified as Olatunde Julius, with a machete during the altercation, inflicting serious injuries.

He said the victim was immediately rushed to a hospital for medical treatment, where doctors assessed his condition and issued a medical report to aid police investigations.

The police spokesperson added that after concluding investigations, the command established a prima facie case against the suspect and subsequently charged her to court to face prosecution.

Jimoh reiterated the commitment of the Ondo State Police Command to combating all forms of domestic violence, stressing that such acts pose a serious threat to lives and public safety.

He also urged members of the public to promptly report cases of domestic abuse and violence to security agencies to enable swift intervention and prevent further harm.

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested five suspects in separate operations linked to alleged culpable homicide and armed robbery cases in Bauchi and Ningi Local Government Areas of the state.
The Command said three suspects were arrested in connection with the killing of a resident of Miri Village in Bauchi Local Government Area, while two others were apprehended over an armed robbery attack on a commercial motorcyclist in Ningi.

In a statement issued by the Spokesman of the Command, SP Nafiu Habib, the three suspects arrested over the alleged homicide were identified as Rabiyu Sanda, 16, Muhammad Abubakar, 21, and Suleiman Nura, 21, all residents of Miri Village.

According to the police, operatives attached to the ‘B’ Division, GRA, arrested the suspects on June 13, 2026, following an investigation into an incident that occurred on June 11, 2026.

The statement said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly conspired and carried out the act following a misunderstanding with the deceased.

The police further disclosed that the suspects voluntarily confessed to the offence during interrogation and provided useful information that aided the investigation.

The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation, after which the suspects are expected to be charged in court.

In a separate development, detectives attached to the Ningi Division arrested two suspects over an alleged armed robbery attack on a 22-year-old commercial motorcyclist.

The victim’s father had reported to the police on June 14 that his son was attacked in Ningi Town on the night of June 13 by assailants who attempted to steal his motorcycle.

Police investigations led to the arrest of Adamu Abdullahi of Zazika Village in Ningi LGA and Aminu Shuaibu of Dutsen Danga Village in Birnin Kudu LGA of Jigawa State.

According to the Command, the suspects allegedly attacked the victim with a hammer, inflicting injuries on his face before making away with his motorcycle.

The police, however, said operatives acted swiftly, recovered the stolen motorcycle and apprehended the suspects.

The case has also been transferred to the SCID for further investigation and prosecution.

Reacting to the arrests, the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, directed investigators to ensure diligent handling of the cases and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.

He also urged residents to avoid violent confrontations, remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
