Tottenham secured a crucial victory over Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, their first since the turn of the year, but some of Roberto De Zerbi’s decisions have still been questioned.
Spurs scored a second-half winner from Joao Palhinha, which could be crucial in the race to remain in the Premier League.
Unfortunately for them, West Ham found a last-minute winner against Everton, meaning Spurs’ victory didn’t change anything in terms of their Premier League position.
The goal from Palhinha was crucial nonetheless, and it keeps Tottenham within touching distance of the Hammers.
Spurs have now ended their winless run in England’s top flight, which is a huge burden off their shoulders ahead of the final weeks of the season.
Roberto De Zerbi Decision Questioned
Speaking on his YouTube channel, journalist Alasdair Gold questioned the decision from De Zerbi to have James Maddison on the bench once again.
“Not sure I entirely agree with having him as a sub on the bench if he can’t actually play a part. It does feel like you’re taking the place of someone who, in the midst of battle, you might just turn to and might surprise you rather than essentially having someone that can’t play in that position on the bench.”
It’s a fair point to raise from Gold, especially if there is no chance that the English midfielder was ever going to play. Tottenham have plenty of academy products who could benefit from the experience or even play a part in the game.
