The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers in connection with the abduction and killing of a 17-year-old candidate of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, Thompson Adams, in the Ikorodu area of the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, disclosed this on Wednesday while briefing journalists at the command headquarters in Ikeja.
According to him, the suspects; Elijah Emmanuel, 23, and Tony Ogenata, 21, were apprehended on April 27 at about 8:00 p.m. at Lucky Fibre, Ikorodu, following credible intelligence.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim, who had just written his examination on April 22, was lured by the suspects, said to be his former secondary schoolmates, to their apartment, where he was killed.
“Operatives of the command, acting on credible intelligence, traced and arrested the suspects. Findings show that they went out with their friend, Adams, and subsequently murdered him,” Tijani said.
He added that the suspects concealed the victim’s body in a bag before disposing of it within the community.
Further interrogation, the police said, uncovered the suspects’ alleged involvement in a previous incident in November 2025, in which a female victim, reportedly the girlfriend of one of the suspects, was kidnapped and killed.
According to the police, the suspects demanded and received a ransom of N300,000 from the victim’s family but still proceeded to kill her.
The Commissioner of Police stated that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

‘They killed my father’ – Boy vows to join army, revenge against bandits [VIDEO]
A young boy identified as Umar, from Magami town in Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State, has vowed to join the Nigerian Army and seek justice for his father, who was allegedly killed by suspected bandits.
This emerged from a video shared on X on Tuesday by Bakatsine, a journalist who reports on conflict and insecurity in Nigeria’s North-West region.
In the video, the boy narrated how he witnessed the killing of his father, an experience he said inspired his desire to become a soldier.
Speaking in Hausa during the interview, Umar said his father was attacked and killed shortly after returning from the market.
According to him, his father had harvested seven baskets of red pepper, sold them, and used the proceeds to purchase food items, including rice, for the family.
He said his father had planned for the family to share a meal together and had gone to fetch fresh pepper for soup when the attack occurred.
“He came back after harvesting seven baskets of pepper. He bought food items and rice for us. He wanted us to cook and eat together, but as he was returning from the farm, they killed him,” Umar said.
The boy further alleged that the attackers later forced their way into the family home and assaulted members of the household.
When asked about his future ambitions, Umar said he wanted to become a soldier, adding that the killing of his father influenced his decision.
He expressed a desire to take revenge against those responsible for the attack, while also praying for God’s mercy on his late father and other victims of violence.
