Troops rescue abducted Air Force personnel in Benue operation
Troops of Sector 1, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have rescued a personnel of the Nigerian Air Force who was abducted by suspected militia in Katsina-Ala.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the rescue operation was carried out at about 6:45 p.m. on April 27 in the Tor Donga general area, following reports that the officer had been abducted a day earlier.
According to the sources, troops swiftly mobilised after receiving intelligence and conducted extensive search operations across nearby communities and adjoining bush paths.
“The abducted Air Force personnel was successfully rescued during the operation,” the sources said.
They added that efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend those responsible for the abduction.
Troops have since maintained a strong presence in the area to prevent further incidents and ensure the safety of residents.

‘They killed my father’ – Boy vows to join army, revenge against bandits [VIDEO]
A young boy identified as Umar, from Magami town in Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State, has vowed to join the Nigerian Army and seek justice for his father, who was allegedly killed by suspected bandits.
This emerged from a video shared on X on Tuesday by Bakatsine, a journalist who reports on conflict and insecurity in Nigeria’s North-West region.
In the video, the boy narrated how he witnessed the killing of his father, an experience he said inspired his desire to become a soldier.
Speaking in Hausa during the interview, Umar said his father was attacked and killed shortly after returning from the market.
According to him, his father had harvested seven baskets of red pepper, sold them, and used the proceeds to purchase food items, including rice, for the family.
He said his father had planned for the family to share a meal together and had gone to fetch fresh pepper for soup when the attack occurred.
“He came back after harvesting seven baskets of pepper. He bought food items and rice for us. He wanted us to cook and eat together, but as he was returning from the farm, they killed him,” Umar said.
The boy further alleged that the attackers later forced their way into the family home and assaulted members of the household.
When asked about his future ambitions, Umar said he wanted to become a soldier, adding that the killing of his father influenced his decision.
He expressed a desire to take revenge against those responsible for the attack, while also praying for God’s mercy on his late father and other victims of violence.

Oyo police arrest four over alleged theft of N8m Telecom equipment
The Oyo State Police Command has arrested four suspected telecommunications infrastructure vandals who allegedly confessed to stealing solar power equipment from a telecom facility in Kwara State.
A statement by the Command said the suspects were apprehended by operatives of the Command Monitoring Unit during a routine stop-and-search operation conducted on June 20, 2026, at the Irepo area along the Oyo–Ogbomoso Expressway.
The Command disclosed that the suspects were intercepted while transporting suspected stolen telecommunications power equipment in an ash-coloured Toyota Sienna vehicle with registration number EPE 992 KH.
Those arrested were identified as Jimoh Mufutau, 35, from Mowe-Ibafo area of Ogun State; Saheed Akanbi, 34, from Onipanu area of Lagos State; Lateef Ibrahim, 37, from Igando area of Lagos State; and Lukman Jimoh, 38, from Isheri/Berger area of Lagos State.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were conveying four hybrid solar batteries valued at approximately ₦8 million.
According to the police, the suspects confessed during interrogation that the equipment was stolen from a telecommunications facility in Offa, Kwara State, before they attempted to transport it to an undisclosed destination.
“The recovered items and the vehicle used in conveying them have been taken into police custody as exhibits, while further investigation is ongoing to determine the full extent of the suspects’ criminal activities and identify other members of the syndicate,” the statement said.
Commenting on the arrest, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, commended the vigilance and professionalism of the operatives whose proactive efforts led to the breakthrough.
He reiterated the Command’s determination to safeguard critical national infrastructure and prevent criminal elements from operating within Oyo State.
Olugbenga also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to the police, noting that public cooperation remains essential in the fight against crime.
The Command further reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives, property and vital national assets, while ensuring that those involved in criminal activities are brought to justice.

Police arrest three suspects, recover pistol in Plateau
The Plateau State Police Command has arrested three suspects and recovered a locally made pistol during a security operation in Jos North Local Government Area.
The development was contained in a post shared on X on Tuesday by security analyst Zagazola Makama, who regularly reports on security-related incidents across the country.
According to the post, the incident was said to have occurred around 4:45 pm on Monday, when police personnel attached to the Gada-Biu Outstation intercepted the suspects.
“The three suspects were identified as Ibrahim Alhassan, 27, Kingsley Kadinan Deban, and one Johnson, whose surname is yet to be confirmed,” Makama wrote.
According to police sources, the suspects were riding on a Bajaj motorcycle from Rukuba Road towards Gada-Biu when the incident occurred.
The sources said the suspects allegedly fired a shot into the air near the Gada-Biu Catholic Church, which quickly drew the attention of security operatives in the area.
“The sound of the gunshot alerted our personnel, who immediately went after them and arrested the three suspects,” a source said.
After their arrest, a search was carried out, leading to the recovery of a locally made pistol as well as the motorcycle they were using.
The suspects are currently in police custody, while investigations have begun to determine the motive behind their actions.
Police authorities also said efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest other possible members of the group and recover additional weapons.
