Morgan Gibbs-White and Robert Sanchez Share Injury Images After Horror Clash

Published

Morgan Gibbs-White and Robert Sanchez have both shared images of the injuries they sustained after their sickening clash during Chelsea vs Nottingham Forest on Monday afternoon.

Forest made the decision to leave many of their star players on the bench and rest them for a huge Europa League semi-final second leg tie against Aston Villa on Thursday.

Despite Vítor Pereira’s team selection, Forest led 2-0 at half-time thanks to early goals from Taiwo Awoniyi and Igor Jesus.

With Forest leading, Pereira decided to sub in some of his key players after the break, as Gibbs-White, Elliot Anderson and Nikola Milenković all entered the fray.

The away side took a three-goal lead when Gibbs-White set up Awoniyi to score his second seven minutes after the restart. Joao Pedro scored a stunning overhead kick in stoppage-time, but it was too little, too late as Forest won 3-1.

Four players were forced off after suffering sickening head injuries at Stamford Bridge. Jesse Derry, making his first Premier League start for Chelsea, was stretchered off and taken to hospital just before half-time. Zach Abbott, who Derry clashed heads with, was also forced off.

Gibbs-White and Sanchez also had to leave the field after a horror clash of heads 15 minutes after the restart. Sanchez came rushing out of his goal to punch the ball away from danger, and he clashed with the Forest midfielder, who only had his eyes on the ball.

Both players received medical attention and could not continue. Gibbs-White was replaced by Chris Wood, while Sanchez made way for Filip Jörgensen.

The England midfielder took to social media to share the extent of the damage. The image revealed a deep laceration held together by stitches running from his forehead down to the bridge of his nose.

Alongside the graphic, the 26-year-old wrote: “Thanks for the messages. What a win! Congrats, Taiwo Awoniyi.”

Sanchez had his head heavily bandaged as he made his way off the pitch. He saw Gibbs-White’s post and posted an image of his own injury, alongside a message of support.

“I see that you came out worse than me; I hope you are OK, big man,” he said in response.

Forest are now sweating on the fitness of Gibbs-White, who could miss their huge match against Villa on Thursday evening. Pereira said after the match, per the Nottingham Post:

“I’m waiting. Gibbs-White has a deep cut but he is a fighter and has a strong mentality. I hope our medical department can do magic to put him in condition (to play). We will see.

“I said to him: ‘You don’t need to head the ball just to play’. We will see. He is speaking normally, he remembers everything. The only thing is the pain – we will see.”

Sanchez also faces a race against time to be available for Chelsea’s trip to Anfield to face Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.

Tottenham Eyeing Man City Defender John Stones

Tottenham are interested in signing one player who has been called up to the England squad for the World Cup ahead of the summer transfer window.

It’s certainly not going to be a quiet summer transfer window for Spurs, with a number of players already linked with departures.

Some in the Tottenham squad won’t want to be without European football, and the North London club failed to qualify after being involved in a relegation battle.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side managed to avoid dropping down to the Championship after securing a win over Everton on the final day.

After such a disappointing couple of years, the Tottenham hierarchy will undoubtedly want to back De Zerbi, especially after he turned things around for them in the second half of the season.

According to a report from the Independent, Tottenham are now considering a deal to sign John Stones to bring in some ‘badly needed leadership’ in the summer transfer window.

Signing a new centre back could be one of their priorities, with Cristian Romero and Micky van der Ven both linked with departures.

Stones is set to be a free agent in the summer after it was confirmed that he will be leaving Manchester City following the expiration of his contract.

After years of bringing in young talents from around Europe, adding some experience to their squad could certainly be beneficial to avoid being dragged into another relegation battle.

Stones Still Won’t Come Cheap

According to David Ornstein, when John Stones signed a new deal at the Etihad Stadium back in 2021, the Man City defender was given a deal worth £250,000 a week.

Even if Tottenham are going to secure Stones’ signature on a free transfer, it’s still not going to come cheap, considering the wages they may have to offer.

If Stones is going to want to remain in the Premier League heading into the 2026-2027 season, there’s every chance he may have to drop his wage demands.

Signing Stones on £250,000 a week might not be the smartest idea, especially as he struggled to play regularly in recent years due to injuries.

German Media React to Thomas Tuchel’s England World Cup Squad

The German media have delivered a strong reaction on Thomas Tuchel after seeing England’s squad for the 2026 World Cup finals.

Tuchel made several controversial decisions with his 26-man squad for this summer’s showpiece international tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, Manchester City’s Phil Foden and Real Madrid’s Trent Alexander-Arnold were among the highest-profile omissions.

Other players who missed the cut include Manchester United duo Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire, who admitted he was “shocked” and “gutted” to be left out, Nottingham Forest’s in-form midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton.

“I think from day one we were very clear that we are trying to select and build the best possible team, which is not necessarily to select and collect the 26 most talented players,” Tuchel told reporters after his 26-man squad was announced.

“Teams win championships, it is as simple as that. What we are trying to achieve in the summer can only be achieved as a team. With that in mind, we chose a very balanced squad.

“I can assure every fan in the country that we have 26, 100% committed players in camp with us who know their role, who are ready to buy into their role on and off the pitch and are ready and committed to the idea of team spirit and being unselfish.”

But while Tuchel is convinced he’s picked the best-possible England squad to win this summer’s World Cup, the German press clearly disagree. According to the Daily Mail, Henning Feindt, sports editor of German newspaper BILD, wrote this week:

“Tuchel has opted to leave out exceptional players like Cole Palmer, Phil Foden and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Three of the ten most valuable players – CUT OUT.

“That would be like (Germany manager Julian) Nagelsmann dropping (Florian) Wirtz and (Joshua) Kimmich from the team in addition to the out-of-form (Jamal) Musiala. In short: madness – but also incredibly exciting.”

Feindt also believes Tuchel will be sacked unless England win the World Cup for the first time since 1966 due to the German tactician’s controversial squad selection.

Despite leaving out a handful of top-class players, England are still among the favourites to lift the World Cup trophy in New Jersey on July 19.

Celtic Interested in Signing Former Real Madrid Striker Alvaro Rodriguez

Celtic are eyeing a move to sign a striker in the summer transfer window who left Real Madrid in 2025.

Signing a new forward could be one of Celtic’s priorities heading into the summer transfer window, with Martin O’Neill struggling to find a consistent goalscorer in his team.

Daizen Maeda has been heavily linked with a move away from the club, meaning signing a new forward will be imperative heading into the 2026-2027 season.

Kelechi Iheanacho was one of Celtic’s key strikers towards the end of the campaign, but the Nigerian forward has struggled with injuries and consistency over the last few years.

Now, Celtic have entered the market to sign a new centre forward.

According to a report from Team Talk, Celtic are now intensifying their search to sign a new striker as they look for a replacement for Maeda.

It’s claimed that former Real Madrid striker Alvaro Rodriguez has emerged as a leading target for the Glasgow club.

The 21-year-old who joined Elche from Real Madrid last summer is set to cost in the region of £13m, which might be a difficult figure for Celtic to hit.

Rodriguez, described as a La Liga unicorn, provided 12 goal contributions in 34 La Liga appearances this season.

It’s an impressive return, especially playing for a side who were battling near the bottom of the league.

Big Summer Ahead for Celtic

It’s a big summer approaching for Celtic for multiple reasons. Firstly, the Glasgow giants need to solve their managerial situation, with manager O’Neill leaving the club this summer.

It’s currently unclear who is going to replace the experienced coach, and a new manager could impact their recruitment, meaning they need to solve it quickly.

Celtic were also behind in the race for the Scottish Premiership title for the majority of the season.

Hearts led the way for the most part, falling at the final hurdle. Given how impressive their recruitment has been, Celtic need to make sure they are sharp in the market.
