OK Movement leadership meet Obasanjo as former president backs Obi, Kwankwaso
Leadership of the OK Movement, a support group for the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential and vice-presidential candidates, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, on Friday met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
This is coming amid reports that Obi and Kwankwaso are currently enjoying the support of Obasanjo as the much-anticipated election draws closer.
The OK Movement, in a post on its official X handle on Friday night, said its leadership “held a powerful and strategic meeting with Obasanjo” on June 12.

According to the post, the meeting reaffirmed “our shared commitment to a stronger, more united, and progressive Nigeria.”
“The wisdom, experience, and leadership perspectives shared during the meeting will further energize our efforts to build a movement that is people-centered, forward-looking, and dedicated to advancing the Nigerian cause.
“The OK Movement remains steadfast in its mission to mobilize, empower, and rally the new Nigerian movement towards greater unity, growth, and prosperity for all.”

Presidential election: South East voting patterns will no longer go against APC – Zonal leader
The South-East Woman Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mrs Oby Ajih, has said that her party would record a convincing victory across the entire South-East region during the 2027 election.
Ajih, who spoke in Umuahia during the mid-year prayer and widows’ empowerment programme organised by the Abia APC Woman Leader, noted that the losses suffered by the APC in the South-East during the previous presidential elections in 2015, 2019 and 2023 would not be repeated.
According to her, the performance of President Bola Tinubu in the South-East region and other parts of the country has changed any negative perception held by citizens in the region, noting that the APC would harvest more votes across all polling units in the South-East.
She also dismissed speculation that the kidnapped Otu pupils and their teachers had been abandoned in captivity, assuring parents that the Federal Government is applying the best strategies to secure their release.
“The children are not dead. They will not die. They will come out and they will be rescued by the grace of God,” Mrs Ajih said.
Speaking at the mid-year prayer, the APC Woman Leader in Abia State, Mrs Cecilia Erondu, said all widows in the Abia APC gathered to pray for an end to insecurity in the country and also for good health for President Bola Tinubu and other APC candidates.
Mrs Erondu explained that the support items given to the widows in the Abia APC were meant to improve their livelihoods.

‘What I told Peter Obi before he joined NDC’ – Kenneth Okonkwo
A chieftain of the African Democratic Party, Kenneth Okonkwo, has revealed that he advised the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, against joining the party.
Okonkwo made this revelation on Friday in a post on X, stating that he warned Obi that he would become what he described as a mobile squatter in the NDC if he left the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
“I told Obi that if he left ADC, he would become a mobile squatter in NDC,” Okonkwo stated.
According to him, a recent interview by the national leader of the NDC, Seriake Dickson, validated his concerns.
“The interview by Seriake Dickson, the Supreme Leader of the NDC, over the past two days confirmed my fears.
“He told people that if they think registering a party is easy, they should go and register theirs. Sorry, squatters do not have rights and privileges in the landlord’s house,” he said.
The Nollywood-turned politician further explained that the only job of Obi and his toxic followers in the NDC is unquestioning servitude to the ‘Supreme Leader’.

NDC crisis: What I discussed with Seriake Dickson – Peter Obi
Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Mr Peter Obi, has disclosed details of his discussions with the party’s National Leader, Seriake Dickson, and vice-presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, amid concerns over internal challenges within the party.
Obi, in a post on X on Friday, said the meetings held on Democracy Day focused on strengthening unity within the NDC and advancing the party’s vision for national transformation.
Together Towards the New Nigeria That Is Possible
“The NDC, as a party that is barely four months old, despite the challenges, remains the party of the future, and the fruitful discussions at the meetings clearly underscore this fact.
“The leaders and members of a committed political family must be willing to make sacrifices and show tolerance and accommodation, even in difficult circumstances. This shared understanding is essential for building trust, strengthening unity, and sustaining the vision we collectively hold for national transformation.
We are all committed to this goal. The NDC remains the vehicle that will convey Nigeria through purposeful, compassionate leadership, with firm commitment to productivity and democratic ideals towards the New Nigeria that is possible.”
According to him, the NDC, despite being barely four months old and facing challenges, remains “the party of the future,” noting that the discussions underscored the commitment of its leaders to the party’s growth and stability.
He stressed the need for leaders and members of the political family to make sacrifices, show tolerance and accommodate differing views, particularly during difficult periods.
Obi said such values were essential for building trust, promoting unity and sustaining the collective vision of delivering a new Nigeria.
