Alex Pereira’s Pay For UFC White House Fight vs Ciryl Gane ‘Leaked’

Published

on

UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier has accidently ‘leaked’ Alex Pereira‘s pay ahead of his heavyweight debut on the UFC Freedom 250 card at the White House and the Brazilian is seemingly being paid a staggering sum.

‘Poatan’ is seeking to make UFC history when he steps into the Octagon on the South Lawn on Sunday night. Already previously a champion at middleweight and light heavyweight, Pereira is stepping up to challenge for the interim UFC Heavyweight Championship at the White House.

The 38-year-old will square off with France’s Ciryl Gane in the evening’s co-main event for interim gold, with the winner moving on to challenge full champion Tom Aspinall next.

Alex Pereira Could Make UFC History at the White House

Should Pereira walk away with the title on Sunday night, he will become the only fighter in history to win a UFC championship in three separate weight classes. However, regardless of the result at the White House, he is apparently set to bank a considerable sum.

Cormier leaked Pereira’s pay while trying to agree a wager with the much-loved fighter on the ongoing 2026 World Cup. High on the chances of his native Brazil, Alex tried to convince American Cormier to have a $20,000 bet on the Selecao getting further in the tournament than the USA.

‘DC’ wasn’t happy with the bet size and eventually bargained Pereira down to a $10,000 wager, before declaring that Alex was going to be the highest-paid of all the 14 fighters on this Sunday’s card.

Pereira was reported to have made just over $3.5 million for his last fight, where he knocked out Magomed Ankalaev inside a round to regain the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship.

Per Cormier, Alex is set to earn a far larger sum for his fight with Gane this weekend.

“He’s the only one at the White House making $10 million!” Cormier insisted. Pereira smiled when he heard the comment, but never tried to deny it.

The jump in salary is a significant one, but UFC CEO Dana White has already confirmed a massive increase in fight night bonuses for the White House card.

Speaking at Friday’s final press conference, Dana announced that two participants in the Fight of the Night would receive $400,000 each, while Performance of the Night winners are in line to receive $425,000 each.

For all other UFC cards, both bonuses are capped at $100,000 each, having recently been bumped up from $50,000.

Considering his fearsome string ability, Pereira will be among one of the favourites to take home a performance bonus, potentially adding to what will already be a lucrative payday.

James McClean Slams ‘Worst’ Decision For Ireland vs Israel

Published

By

James McClean has always been one to speak up when he believes a moral line has been crossed.

The former Republic of Ireland international, who earned 103 caps for his country, has spoken out in a characteristically forthright fashion following a decision that had Irish fans up in arms.

The context is the FAI’s confirmation that Ireland’s UEFA Nations League fixture against Israel, scheduled for the 4th of October, will be moved to a neutral venue and played behind closed doors, rather than at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

10 Greatest Ireland Players in Football History [Ranked]

From Roy Keane to Shay Given, here are the greatest Irish players of all-time.

The organisation cited operational challenges and potential disruption as the driving factors behind the decision, with UEFA approving the request following consultation with various stakeholders, including the Palestinian Football Association, which expressed its appreciation for Ireland’s stance on the conflict while respecting the FAI’s course of action.

McClean Accuses FAI of Cowardice

For McClean, the compromise satisfied nobody and stood for nothing. “I think we’ve missed a massive opportunity here,” he told RTE Sport (via the Irish Mirror). “I think the decision to move to a neutral venue behind closed doors, of all the decisions we could have made, is by far the worst one.

“The FAI have missed a massive opportunity to stand on the right side of history.”

“If you’re going to go ahead with the game, at least have the courage to face the backlash that was going to come with it being played in Dublin. But to move it away is a cowardly move.”

Roy Keane Finally Settles 15-Year Feud With Liverpool Hero He Refused to Speak to

The Irish pair have finally swept their different under the carpet after a lengthy feud.

The Derry City man also drew on Ireland’s own history to make his point: “If there’s one country that can relate to the oppression and famine and what’s going on in Gaza, it’s the people of this country.”

The Aviva Stadium

The FAI’s lengthy statement on Saturday made clear that the decision wasn’t taken lightly. They’ve been engaged with UEFA on the issue for almost two years and submitted a formal motion in November 2025 that called for the suspension of the Israel Football Association from UEFA competitions. That motion was passed at the FAI’s general assembly, but UEFA’s competition rules left the association with limited room to manoeuvre.

James McClean’s Post After Leaving Wrexham Has Angered English Football Fans

The former Wrexham man, who has recently joined Derry City, couldn’t help but rile up the opposition fans one last time.

Had Ireland refused to fulfil the fixture entirely, the consequences would have been significant: Six points forfeited, potential relegation to League C in the Nations League, damage to UEFA and FIFA rankings, and perhaps most frustratingly, a boost to Israel’s own competition standing as a direct result.

It’s a seriously difficult position, and the statement reflects an organisation trying to balance sporting obligation against increasingly vocal moral pressure. Whether moving the game to a neutral venue reads as a reasonable compromise, or a failure of leadership, will depend largely on where those who read into it stand. McClean, for his part, has made his view rather clear.

Arsenal Ready to Spend £87m on ‘Superstar’ Kenan Yildiz Amid Tzolis Talks

Arsenal are reportedly in talks to sign Christos Tzolis ahead of the summer transfer window, but they are also ready to spend £87m on a ‘superstar’.

The Gunners are in the strongest position they’ve been in for years when it comes to recruiting players in the summer transfer window.

Mikel Arteta’s side lifted the Premier League title after a 22-year wait, while they also reached the Champions League final before being beaten by Paris Saint-Germain.

They are now one of the most attractive prospects to play for in Europe, which could see them enjoy a busy summer window.

Arsenal don’t need too many signings in order to go to the next level, with Arteta and his recruitment team already building a phenomenal squad.

According to Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Arteta considers Juventus star Kenan Yildiz as his dream target for the summer transfer window.

It is claimed that the Gunners would be ready to spend around £87 million for Yildiz, with Tzolis considered an alternative option after Arsenal open talks.

Arsenal want to sign a key player for the left-hand side of attack, and Yildiz, described as a ‘superstar’, could be the ideal signing for that position.

Yildiz Better Than Tzolis

Kenan Yildiz

Although Tzolis’ numbers were more impressive during the 2025-26 season, there is no doubt he is playing in a lesser league than Yildiz is.

Tzolis is also now 24, meaning he is approaching his prime years, whereas Yildiz is three years younger and yet to reach his full potential.

Tzolis has played in England before with Norwich City in both the Premier League and the Championship, but he struggled to make an impact.

The Greek international has certainly developed since then, but there’s no doubt Yildiz is the player with a higher ceiling and also more proven at the highest level.

Jurgen Klopp Blasts 2026 World Cup Hydration Breaks

Published

Jurgen Klopp has never been the type to bite his tongue, and his latest broadside suggests that life away from the dugout has done nothing to soften his edges.

The former Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool manager has launched an attack on one of FIFA’s ongoing rules, and his words are about as brash as you’d expect from the German.

Sir Alex Ferguson

Sir Alex Ferguson Named His 2026 World Cup Favourites – Snubbed England and Ronaldo

Sir Alex Ferguson has named the team to beat at the 2026 World Cup… and it’s not Thomas Tuchel’s England.

Klopp was speaking on the set of German television channel ZDF when the subject of cooling breaks came up. FIFA have kept the measure in place for the 2026 World Cup as a precautionary response to the summer heat across North America, framing it as a protective mechanism for player welfare.

It’s something that’s been in place since the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, applying to any match that’s played in heat measuring at least 32 degrees, but Klopp wasn’t buying it.

Jurgen Klopp’s Verdict on FIFA’s Cooling Breaks

Jurgen Klopp

The 58-year-old didn’t mince his words, as you’d expect. Discussing the hydration breaks, which now require the action to stop for three minutes, he said (per L’Equipe):

“Football is being held hostage by executives ensconced in air-conditioned offices.”

Describing the breaks as a “shield for player well-being, a noble sword against the heat” that are “nothing more than a gilded cage built for sponsors.”

His central concern was the damage these stoppages do to the flow of the game. “A World Cup match should flow like a river,” he said.

FIFA Issue Statement as Controversial Last-Minute 2026 World Cup Stadium Rule Change Emerges

Fans are outraged by the last-minute rule change at 2026 World Cup stadiums

“Instead, we’re building dams right in the middle so that advertisements can pass through. It’s dangerous for the spirit of the game. Football used to be the main event, but now it risks becoming the background music for an advertising spectacle.”

Irony of Jurgen Klopp’s Words

There is, of course, a footnote worth acknowledging. Klopp himself is one of the faces of Red Bull. Appearing in numerous commercials for the energy drink brand. The man urging FIFA to keep corporate interests out of football is, by his own admission, no stranger to the advertising world.

Supercomputer Ranks Every 2026 World Cup Team’s Chances – England Above Argentina

Opta’s supercomputer claims England have a stronger chance that Lionel Messi’s Argentina.

It hardly invalidates his argument. Plenty of people can critique a system while operating within it. But it hands his critics an easy line of attack, and in the court of public opinion, notes will be taken.
