2027: Most party primaries were fraudulent – Sam Amadi
The Director, Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, Sam Amadi, has said most of the recently concluded primary elections across various political parties were fraudulent.
Amadi said this during an interview on Arise Television, stating that the results increased internal conflicts, and weakened party leadership.
According to him, the parties are not strong enough to enforce discipline among aspirants and members.
“Most party primaries were fraudulent. Even some of the House of Representatives aspirants were favoured by zoning but somehow they don’t get into the list, so governors’ influence matters.
“Again, if you look at chaos in the parties’ organization – new entrants come in and crowd out old members. Take for example in Delta State, where former governor Ifeanyi Okowa came in to unseat Ned Nwoko.
“Not necessarily that the likes of Nwoko didn’t perform but they have been dislocated by some structural changes,” he said.

BREAKING: 2027: ADC officially announces Amaechi as Atiku’s running mate
The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has officially announced former Minister of Transportation and ex-Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, as the party’s vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
As a result, Amaechi will be Atiku Abubakar’s running mate in the presidential poll.
The announcement was made in a statement signed by ADC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi.
The statement reads in full: “The National Leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), after extensive consultations with party leaders, coalition partners, youth and women stakeholders, and representatives of all geopolitical zones, is proud to announce that the Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has been selected as the Vice-Presidential Candidate of our great party for the 2027 Presidential Election.
“This recommendation follows the successful conclusion of the ADC Presidential Primaries, in which Rt. Hon. Amaechi emerged as the runner-up, earning widespread support from party members across the federation and demonstrating his enduring appeal as one of Nigeria’s most experienced and respected political leaders.
“The proposed partnership between His Excellency Atiku Abubakar and Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi represents more than a political alliance; it is the coming together of two tested statesmen with the experience, national reach, and leadership capacity required to rescue Nigeria from its current challenges and reposition the country for a new era of prosperity, security, and inclusive development.
“Rt. Hon. Amaechi brings to this ticket one of the most comprehensive public service records in contemporary Nigerian politics. His experience spans all major pillars of democratic governance. He served with distinction as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, making him one of the longest-serving legislative leaders in Nigeria’s Fourth Republic.
“He subsequently served two terms as Governor of Rivers State, where he oversaw significant investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and public sector reforms. At the national level, he served as Minister of Transportation, leading some of the most ambitious transportation and rail modernization initiatives in Nigeria’s history.
“Few political leaders in Nigeria today possess such extensive and balanced experience across both the legislative and executive arms of government. This depth of experience will be invaluable in supporting the next ADC administration from day one.
“Beyond his impressive credentials, Rt. Hon. Amaechi strengthens the ticket strategically. His political influence across the South-South and wider Southern Nigeria, his reputation as a reform-minded administrator, and his proven ability to build coalitions across political, ethnic, and regional lines make him uniquely positioned to complement the candidacy of Atiku Abubakar.
“Together, Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi embody a truly national ticket—one that bridges regions, generations, and political traditions. Their combined experience in governance, economic management, public administration, party organization, and nation-building offers Nigerians a credible and compelling alternative capable of restoring confidence in government and accelerating national development.
“At a time when millions of Nigerians are demanding competent leadership, economic revival, job creation, security, and national unity, the Atiku-Amaechi ticket sends a clear message: the ADC is prepared to govern, prepared to unite the nation, and prepared to deliver results.
“The leadership of the ADC is confident that this partnership will energize our growing coalition, inspire hope among Nigerians, and provide the leadership necessary to build a stronger, safer, and more prosperous Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“The ADC therefore calls on all party members, coalition partners, civil society organizations, youth groups, women leaders, and Nigerians of goodwill to join us as we embark on this historic journey to renew our nation and secure a better future for generations to come.“

2027: I’ll leave Nigeria if APC wins -Jigawa ADC guber candidate vows
African Democratic Congress, ADC, governorship candidate in Jigawa State, Sabo Nakudu, has vowed to leave Nigeria if the All Progressives Congress, APC, wins the 2027 general election without improving the living conditions of citizens.
Nakudu made this vow while receiving members of the ADC youth wing in Jigawa State.
The governorship candidate expressed concern over what he described as the growing hardship across the country and warned that young Nigerians would continue to suffer if urgent steps are not taken to address the nation’s challenges.
He noted that the inability of successive governments to provide basic needs has left many citizens frustrated and uncertain about the future.
According to him, access to essential services such as clean water, electricity, education and security should not remain campaign promises decades after Nigeria attained independence.
Nakudu added that it was disappointing that many communities still struggle to get potable water and stable power supply, adding that governments should be assessed by the impact of their policies on the daily lives of ordinary people.
“I will leave Nigeria if the APC wins the 2027 general elections. The younger generation will bear the greatest consequences if the current situations of unemployment, insecurity and poor infrastructure persist.
“Don’t distance yourselves from politics but to participate actively in the democratic process. Only leaders who are committed to development and accountability should be entrusted with public offices,” he said.

PDP wins 20 LGAs in Adamawa council poll
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has won council election in all the 20 Local Government Areas of Adamawa State where results have been determined so far.
Election now pends in only one LGA of Numan. The last election is holding today following its postponement from Saturday, June 13 when the election was held in the other LGAs.
Considering that the government at the state level in Adamawa is currently of the All Progressives Congress, APC, the outcome of the council election would surprise many, except those who could observe that arrangement for the election had already gone far before the political alignment that had Governor Ahmadu Fintiri defecting from the PDP to the APC on February 27 this year.
Although, most loyalists of the governor went with him into the APC, the council chairmen who had earlier been endorsed to seek another term under PDP, remained in the party.
Recall that other parties competed with the PDP in the Saturday election, but could not make a strong statement during the election.
The state PDP governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections, Chief Maurice Vunobolki who was in the vanguard of the pre-council election campaign, has congratulated the newly elected council chairmen, saying the victory of the PDP is a sign that the party remains popular among the people.
The election was conducted by the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission, ADSIEC, which has now shifted attention to the Numan LGA poll.
Among the newly elected chairman is Jibril Ibrahim Jimeta for Yola North LGA.
