Let’s bury our differences to defeat APC — PDP senatorial candidate appeals
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate for the Edo South Senatorial District, Frank Idehen Osifo, has appealed to party members to put aside their differences and unite to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming election.
Osifo said only a united PDP could free the people from what he described as the shackles of bad governance.
While noting that insecurity had spread across the nooks and crannies of the country under the APC-led federal and state governments, he expressed confidence that effective legislation would help address the challenges.
According to him, “I was born and raised in Benin like many of you, and I’m here today running for the Edo South Senatorial District seat in the National Assembly. I want to say that this election is not about me. It’s about that graduate on the streets of Benin aspiring for better opportunities.
“It’s for that trader struggling every day to feed their family. It’s for that farmer investing time and resources to ensure the communities of Edo South Senatorial District are fed. It’s about people who believe that it is time for us to take a transformative step to ensure the emancipation of our people.
“I’m a candidate who intends to bring all the forces together. I’m a bridge builder, not a wall builder. I’m not going to build walls against anybody. What happened during the primaries is behind us. We all have to come together now, unite, and ensure that, as one force, we perform well in the forthcoming election,” he said.
Osifo said previous lawmakers who represented the district had become disconnected from the people but pledged to be different by maintaining close contact with his constituents.
He promised to be an accessible senator who would listen to the demands of the electorate and attract meaningful development to communities across the district.
“Across the board, infrastructural deficits and security challenges have been preventing our farmers from going to their farms.
“Even though legislative business is about making laws that will improve the lives of our people, we can sponsor bills that will guarantee the security and safety of our people so they can go about their businesses and return to their farms without fear,” he added.
Osifo also commended PDP members for electing him as the party’s flag bearer and expressed confidence that, with their continued support and unity, the party would emerge victorious in the election.

INEC: Seven days after, IGP yet to acknowledge petition to probe Anyanwu, Mohammed – Factional PDP
Ogbeide Associates, Solicitors and Counsel holding brief for the factional Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Tuesday said the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Tunji Disu is yet to acknowledge its petition against the party’s National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu and factional National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed seven days after it was sent to him.
On 23rd June 2026, the lawyers had petitioned Disu demanding an investigation into Anyanwu and Mohammed over a letter dated 3rd November 2025 addressed to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The petition alleges that the letter falsely claimed the party’s National Working Committee, NWC, had suspended Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum as Acting National Chairman and appointed Mohammed in his place.
However, in a statement signed by Anthony Ehilebo on behalf of the law firm said: “On 23rd June 2026, Ogbeide Associates formally filed a petition at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, requesting the Inspector General of Police to investigate Senator Samuel Anyanwu and Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed over alleged false information furnished to INEC in the PDP leadership crisis.
“It is now seven (7) days later, no acknowledgment, no invitation to either man, no update.
“For context: when a manipulated, AI-generated audio clip falsely attributed to President Tinubu went viral on 27th May 2026, the Police announced an arrest in the matter by 4th June 2026, about one week.
“We make no allegation as to why our petition backed by a subsisting Federal High Court judgment, an official NWC resolution, an official meeting attendance record, and a Court of Appeal judgment, has not yet received the same urgency.
“We simply place the facts before Nigerians. We call on the IGP to confirm receipt and indicate next steps.
“Should there be no substantive response within a reasonable further period, all available legal remedies, including proceedings to compel action, will be pursued. Nigerians are watching, the documents are public, silence is not an answer.”

2027: Opposition party members form coalition to support APGA Reps candidate in Anambra
Some members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State have formed an alliance to support the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the House of Representatives seat for the Anaocha/Njikoka/Dunukofia Federal Constituency.
The coalition, which met on Tuesday in Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area of the state, told journalists that it had resolved to pitch its tent with the APGA candidate, Mr. Chukwudi Oli.
The coalition, after its meeting, adopted Oli as its preferred candidate for the House of Representatives, saying it had done a great deal of introspection and found that, beyond party lines, the area needs a strong voice in the Green Chamber.
Members of the group declared their support for Oli during a consultative meeting held at the APGA House of Representatives candidate’s campaign office, where various leaders of the party in the area spoke about their confidence in him.
In their separate speeches on behalf of the group, the leader, Ozo Ejiamatu, and the chairman, Mr. Onyenechi Ezeaso, said they decided to support Oli because of his proven passion and commitment to the progress of the various communities within the federal constituency and humanity at large.
“In this group, some of us are members of the PDP, APC, NDC, and other political parties.
“But we decided to come together to support you because we are convinced that, by supporting you, we are working for ourselves. We know that you are going to work for the progress of the DNA (Dunukofia/Njikoka/Anaocha Federal Constituency) when you get to the House of Representatives.
“We don’t want to allow selfish politicians who have been deceiving our people to win elections in this federal constituency again because they have deceived us enough,” Ejiamatu stated.
Expressing gratitude to members of the group for their trust, Oli pledged that he would not disappoint them if elected.
He said his political mantra was anchored on “accountability, transparency, togetherness, and touching lives.”
He vowed that, if elected to the House of Representatives, he would not use his position to pursue personal gains but would deploy his capacity and influence to develop the federal constituency while awaiting divine reward.
