Savinho Causes Stir With Pedro Porro Social Media Post

Tottenham are in talks with Manchester City over a move to sign Savinho this summer, a year after almost concluding a deal to sign the Brazilian forward.

Spurs have worked hard so far in the summer transfer window to revitalise Roberto De Zerbi‘s squad ahead of the 2026/27 season, spending more than £237million on six players thus far.

But all of the new signings have been made at the back and in midfield, with De Zerbi yet to add to his forward line.

That may be about to change, with Spurs continuing talks with City over a deal to sign the Brazilian 22-year-old.

Savinho performed well when called upon for Man City last season

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Savinho is “number one, two and three” priority for Tottenham this summer now, amid reports of interest in the likes of Rafael Leao and Cody Gakpo too.

Savinho played a bit-part role for the Citizens last season, having not been allowed to leave for north London last summer, although he did rack up 36 appearances in all competitions. However, only 14 of those were in the starting lineup. He did still manage seven goal contributions – four goals and three assists – with all but one of those goal contributions coming when he was in the XI, showing what he is capable of when trusted from the start.

And Savinho has caused a stir, suggesting he is ready to make the move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with a social media post on Friday night.

The City forward has been on his holidays, having not been chosen for the Brazil squad for the World Cup, as he prepares to return to pre-season. But like everyone else in football he has been taking in what has been going on in America, Canada and Mexico, with the tournament reaching the quarter-final stage this week.

Tottenham star Pedro Porro was in action on Friday night as Spain defeated Belgium in the last eight to progress to the semi-finals. And the right-back played a vital role in the victory. Speaking afterwards, he said on Instagram: “On to the semis! Proud of this crew that keeps dreaming big. One step closer.”

City star Savinho was immediately in the replies. He commented: “Jogaaaaa muito fechamento.” That loosely translates to: “He plays really well, man.”

A comment of congratulations to the Spurs right-back which is curious, considering the two do not share a nationality, nor have they ever played alongside one another.

Porro did start life in England with City, joining the Premier League side in 2020, before leaving to move to Sporting CP in 2022. But there was no crossover, with Savinho not arriving at the Etihad until 2024.

Savinho may just have wanted to congratulate the Spurs man on a good performance at the World Cup, but there may be more to it than that, too.

Man Utd Now Open Talks To Sign ‘Insane’ Wolves Star

Manchester United have turned their attentions elsewhere after turning their back on the signing of Ederson from Atalanta.

United set out their stall at the start of the summer transfer window to add two new central midfielders to Michael Carrick’s squad ahead of the start of the 2026/27 season.

Now, with United back in pre-season training, no new signings have arrived at Old Trafford. Furthermore, United have missed out on a number of players understood to be targets of theirs.

Man Utd have missed out on a number of high-profile targets this summer

Elliot Anderson

The number one transfer priority heading into the summer was Elliot Anderson, but United missed out on the Nottingham Forest and England man, with rivals Manchester City securing a £116million deal for him.

United were also linked with Mateus Fernandes from West Ham United, but saw the Portuguese move to Tottenham in an £85million move instead. Sandro Tonali was another linked with a move but he also made the move to Spurs.

Before the World Cup got underway, United agreed a deal with Atalanta to sign Ederson – a late call-up to the Brazil squad for the tournament – for £38million, but before that could be confirmed, the deal collapsed, seemingly over problems with the player’s medical tests.

That has led to United changing their plans and now, as with Fernandes, it looks like they have earmarked a player who was relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season in Joao Gomes.

United opened talks with Gomes this summer, but looked to have missed out on another target because agent Jorge Mendes was in talks over taking his client to Atletico Madrid instead. That move did not come to fruition and United are now back in the market for the Wolverhampton Wanderers man.

Gomes only missed three Premier League matches for Wolves in 2025/26, with the game at home to Manchester United being one of them.

Atletico had appeared set to confirm a €45million (£38million) deal for Gomes, which would be the same price United were willing to pay for Ederson. United have opened talks once more with Wolves for the 25-year-old, who has been described as “insane” by the official Wolves podcast.

They may not have it all their own way when it comes to landing his signature, however, with Liverpool also in talks with Wolves over a deal.

Rangers Eye Move To Sign ‘Expceptional’ Defender

Rangers are interested in signing AEK Athens defender James Penrice this summer, although they’ll face competition from Middlesbrough and Blackburn for the player, according to GIVEMESPORT senior football correspondent Ben Jacobs.

Penrice impressed in AEK Athens’ title-winning campaign last term, making 33 appearances across all competitions for the Greek giants. That said, despite performing admirably, the Scotsman was largely used as a squad player and is now exploring potential moves back to the United Kingdom.

The left-back was the subject of interest from Rangers in January, although a deal ultimately failed to materialise.

The Glaswegian club could now reignite their interest in Penrice, although this pursuit will come with more hurdles this time around as multiple clubs monitor the 27-year-old’s situation in the Greek capital.

Rangers ‘Appreciate’ AEK Athens Defender James Penrice

James Penrice in action for Hearts

Rangers have been rampant in the transfer market so far this summer, signing four players for new manager Derek McInnes. Goalkeeper Ivan Pandur, defender Ross McCrorie, Sunderland midfielder Dan Neil and prolific Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland have all arrived at Ibrox to bolster the Gers’ squad.

The Scottish giants aren’t prepared to stop there. A left-back is also on their agenda, and long-term target Penrice remains an option.

Jacobs suggests that Middlesbrough and Blackburn have made enquiries about Penrice’s availability, while Rangers still ‘appreciate’ the player.

The Light Blues are yet to approach AEK Athens over a prospective deal, meaning the aforementioned Championship clubs may have an advantage in the race to land the marauding full-back.

However, Penrice reportedly wanted to join Rangers six months ago, and given his nationality, the Glaswegian outfit probably hold swaying power if they opt to properly pursue Penrice.

The defender left Hearts for Athens last summer after enjoying an excellent 2024/25 season. While he has performed well for the Greek club, he made just 16 league starts, and this lack of prominence may prompt him to push for a move back to his home nation.

McInnes’ Squad is Starting to Take Shape

McInnes did an excellent job at Hearts last season, almost leading the Edinburgh side to a shock title triumph. With greater resources at Ibrox, he could be the first man to deliver a Scottish Premiership title to Rangers since Steven Gerrard in 2021.

The club’s hierarchy are clearly intent on providing the tactician with all the tools he needs to secure this historic achievement. Alongside the four signings that have already been made, Rangers are eyeing a double midfield swoop for Partizan Belgrade’s Vanja Dragojevic and Tromso’s Jens Hjerto-Dahl.

Add Penrice to the mix, and suddenly the Teddy Bears have a squad capable of competing with Celtic.

A handful more additions may need to be made, particularly if certain key players leave, but McInnes’ Rangers is beginning to take shape.

LA Dodgers’ Kike Hernandez Won’t Visit the White House to Meet Donald Trump

The LA Dodgers have been invited to visit the White House by President Donald Trump, but at least one of their players won’t be there.

A seven-game victory over the Toronto Blue Jays clinched back-to-back World Series titles last November, and now the championship-winning team have the opportunity to attend a meeting at the White House in Washington, D.C.

All US championship teams make a customary appearance at the Oval Office, and the Dodgers have confirmed they’ll stop by on July 23 during a trip to the East Coast for games against the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies.

Utility player Kike Hernandez appeared to confirm on social media that he wouldn’t be joining his teammates as he responded to a fan pleading ‘please don’t go to the white house’ by saying ‘I’m not’.

The 34-year-old later deleted that comment, but has now doubled down on his stance to miss the trip to the capital. He was part of the Dodgers’ team that attended the White House last year to celebrate their 2024 World Series win.

But he won’t be there this time around as he goes through the rehabilitation process to recover from a strained left oblique. Even if he wasn’t going through rehab, he claims he still wouldn’t be going, according to the Los Angeles Times.

“It’s going to be hard to be in two cities at the same time. If I were active, I probably wouldn’t have gone anyways.

“I’d rather take a day off than do team activities.”

Dave Roberts, the Dodgers’ manager, said he expected a lot of his players to be there, but that it was ultimately ‘an individual choice’.

He said: “I’m sure a lot of guys are going to participate and be there, and this is an individual choice. But I do expect a lot of our guys to be there.”

Roberts then went to explain how he feels the invitation is an honour and that his goal is to win championships to secure the trip. He continued:

“This took a long time to get both sides together, and, honestly, like I’ve always said, my company line, my personal line is I hope that we get this invitation every year.

“Because that’s the goal: to win a championship, to get this invitation to the White House. And I’m not a politician, and I’m doing something that teams have done for decades. And so that’s where I stand, really. I’m a baseball coach. That’s what I do.”

Hernandez Didn’t Enjoy Last White House Trip

Hernandez made it very clear that he wasn’t too impressed by his trip to the White House in 2025. He claimed he ‘wasn’t really interested’ in speaking to President Trump and explained what the day consisted of.

He explained that there was a lot of waiting around: “We went to the White House that morning. They had us sit in a room for about three hours. Then they told us to stand up and get in line. We waited for a couple more hours. And then they took us to the stage. The guy gave his speech, and we left.”

That could well play a big role in his reluctance to go out of his way to meet the President again.
