Operatives of the Nigeria Police under the Inspector-General of Police Special Task Force on Petroleum and Illegal Bunkering and the IGP X-Squad has arrested seven suspects and recovered 285 vandalized Nigerian National Petroleum Company, NNPC, pipelines in Adamawa State.

This is contained in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anietie Iniedu, on Tuesday.

Iniedu said acting on credible intelligence received on 9th July 2026, operatives intercepted a J5 bus fully loaded with suspected vandalized NNPC pipelines along the Yola–Numan Road in Adamawa State.

According to him, the vehicle was driven by one Paul Joshua and accompanied by one Paul Ishiyaku.

He added that the operation subsequently led to the arrest of seven suspects identified as Haruna Usman, 28; Haruna Muhammed Sule, 30; Dabus Peter, 38; Ahmad Adamu, 19; Sadik Ibrahim, 31; Paul Joshua, 49; and Paul Ishiyaku, 48.

Iniedu stated that further searches conducted during the operation resulted in the recovery of two hundred and eighty-five (285) pieces of vandalized pipelines, six (6) gas cylinders, diggers, shovels, one J5 bus with registration number KRD 767 XC, blue in colour, and other equipment suspected to have been used in the commission of the crime.

He reiterated that all recovered exhibits have been secured as evidence.

“The suspects are currently in police custody, while investigations are ongoing to determine the full scope of the criminal enterprise and identify other individuals connected to the vandalism network.

“The Nigeria Police Force under the administration of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, reiterates its commitment to the protection of critical national infrastructure and the fight against economic sabotage.

“Members of the public are encouraged to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing efforts aimed at combating crime and safeguarding national assets across the country,” the statement said.

The bodies of a prospective bride and groom were among four additional victims recovered on Tuesday from the scene of the canoe accident at Malamawar Yandutse in Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State, bringing fresh grief to families and residents as recovery efforts continue.

The village head of Malamawar Yandutse, Umar Habibu, confirmed the recovery of the bodies on Tuesday morning.

DAILY POST reported that a canoe carrying about 40 passengers, mostly women and children, capsized. Twenty-three people were rescued, six died and several others were reported missing.

He explained that four more bodies were recovered, two on Monday evening and two on Tuesday morning.

The victims were identified as Nazifi Magaji, 25, of Yandutse Village; Khadija Malam Sagiru, 18; Sadiya Adamu, 14; and Safiya Daihu, 14, all from Malamawar Yandutse.

According to him, “Following the burial of six persons yesterday, the search team continued and succeeded in the recovery of another four persons.

“Two were buried yesterday evening while the other two were buried Tuesday morning close to the river because of the nature of the decomposed body.”

A resident told DAILY POST that one of the deceased, Khadija Malam Sagiru, was scheduled to get married this coming Saturday, while another victim, Nazifi Magaji, whose body was also recovered, was due to be married next month.

The Director of Planning at the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Muhammad Bala Sanusi, confirmed the recovery of the four additional bodies.

DAILY POST observed that the victims had been buried in accordance with Islamic teachings in the presence of their families, security agencies and government officials.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kebbi Sector Command, says it has arrested 39 vehicles for various traffic offences during an ongoing special enforcement operation across the state.

The Kebbi Sector Commander, Mrs. Rukayya Zakaria, disclosed this while briefing journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday.

She said the operation, which began on July 20, is aimed at tackling dangerous traffic violations such as overloading, mixed loading, route violations and other offences that put the lives of road users at risk.

Zakaria said the command had so far arrested 39 vehicles for different traffic offences, adding that its personnel remained fully deployed for the operation, which would continue until Wednesday, July 22.

“We are conducting the Daidaita Lodi and Lodi Limit operation simultaneously across all seven FRSC operational units in Kebbi State,” she said

According to her, the exercise is designed to improve compliance with road safety regulations and reduce road crashes across the state.

She added that the operation is being conducted in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

The sector commander said officers are focusing on offences including tyre violations, road hazard violations, overloading and mixed loading, where passengers and goods are transported together in the same vehicle.

Zakaria described the intervention patrol as a routine nationwide enforcement exercise carried out periodically based on directives from the FRSC Headquarters.

“The exercise is aimed at strengthening compliance with traffic laws, reducing road crashes and ensuring the safety of motorists and other road users. We urge all motorists to obey traffic regulations, avoid overloading and speeding, and ensure their vehicles are roadworthy to make our roads safer,” Zakaria said.
