The lifeless bodies of three children have been discovered in the home of a female native doctor also known as Ezenwanyi in Ideani community, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The incident has sent shock over indigenes of the community, a source has revealed to DAILY POST.

The bodies of the three children were discovered at the ‘Ezenwayi’s’ place at Umuoduba village, Ideani.

A fourth person found at her premises was discovered alive and had been taken to hospital.

The children whose ages were given as between 6-15 years have, however, not been identified, nor the circumstances of their death ascertained, but sources from the community said the children were either workers of the female native doctor as she rears pigs and birds, or her own children.

The woman is said to have been arrested and currently is in custody at the Ogidi Police Division for investigation. The deceased children were taken to the mortuary. The fourth person was taken to the hospital for medical attention, it was learnt.

As of the time of filing this report, the Anambra State Police command is yet to make a release about the incident nor disclose the identity of the woman.

A video seen on social media, however, showed police officers visiting the home of the suspect after the discovery of the bodies while the woman was seen being taken away.

Three vigilantes from the same family have reportedly been killed after suspected gunmen attacked Tarai community in Jol district of Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The incident occurred around 10:47 p.m. on Tuesday when the attackers allegedly stormed the community and opened fire on local security volunteers conducting a night patrol.

The victims were identified as Dachung Danjuma, 51, Victor Danjuma, 37, and Nyam Danjuma, 35. The three biological brothers were said to have died at the scene.

A community member, Lyop Bitrus, said the brothers were on routine surveillance to safeguard residents when they were ambushed by the gunmen.

“They were keeping watch over the community when the gunmen suddenly attacked them. Sadly, the three brothers were killed on the spot. They sacrificed their lives while protecting the community,” he said.

Residents described the incident as devastating, particularly for the family of Victor Danjuma, who is survived by his wife and five children.

According to community vanguard source, Victor’s wife and children had fled the area following a recent attack on neighbouring Tan Jol community and were preparing to return home after security conditions appeared to improve.

The spokesperson of the Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM), Rwang Tengwong, confirmed the attack, stating that the assailants invaded Tarai community under the cover of darkness and targeted members of the local vigilante team.

Tengwong condemned the killing, describing it as heartbreaking, and expressed concern over the persistent attacks on communities in Riyom and other parts of Plateau State despite repeated calls for stronger security measures.

He urged security agencies to intensify efforts to protect vulnerable communities and ensure those responsible for the attack are brought to justice.

As of the time of filing this report, security authorities had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested four individuals suspected of providing logistical support to Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters during separate operations in Yobe and Borno states.

The arrests were announced in a statement issued by the Acting Military Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North-East), Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni.

According to the military, the first operation was carried out by troops of the 159 Battalion in Geidam, Yobe State, following intelligence reports of suspected terrorist activities in the area. The operation led to the arrest of two suspects believed to have been supplying narcotics and other materials to insurgents.

Security operatives recovered several items from the suspects, including quantities of suspected cannabis, mobile phones, power banks, knives, torchlights, cigarette rolls, pharmaceutical products, identification cards, bank cards and cash.

In a separate operation in Monguno, Borno State, troops of Sector 3 Garrison, working in conjunction with the 242 Reconnaissance Battalion, apprehended two other suspects allegedly linked to ISWAP logistics networks.

The statement said preliminary findings indicated that the suspects were involved in transporting food and other essential supplies to insurgents operating in parts of Kukawa Local Government Area.

Items reportedly recovered during the operation included cartons and sachets of biscuits, milk, sugar, soap, garri, headlamps, lighters, mobile phones, herbal medicine, cash and other materials believed to have been intended for terrorist elements.

Meanwhile, troops conducting routine patrols along the Gezuwa axis of Konduga Local Government Area intercepted 20 individuals identified as relatives of suspected Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) members.

The group comprised women, men and children who reportedly fled a terrorist enclave following intensified military operations in the area.

The individuals told investigators they left the settlement due to sustained military offensives. They have since been handed over to military intelligence personnel for screening and further assessment.

The armed forces said the arrested suspects, along with all recovered exhibits, are undergoing further investigation.

The military noted that the operations form part of ongoing efforts to disrupt terrorist supply chains and weaken the support structures sustaining insurgent activities across the North-East.
