Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command have recovered two FN FAL rifles and live ammunition from bandits in a recent operation.

A statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Josephine Adeh, said the recovery followed an operation at the bandits’ hideout in Dajin Madam forest located between Plateau and Bauchi states.

The PPRO explained that the operation was part of a follow up investigation into the arrest of four suspects for supplying arms, ammunition and illicit substances to bandits.

According to her, operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit conducted a follow-up operation on 2nd August, 2026, based on credible intelligence provided by one of the suspects in custody, Musbahu Ishaq.

She said the suspect led the operatives to Dajin Madam forest, where the criminal syndicate are suing as one of its hideouts.

Adeh said further investigation established that “Musbahu Ishaq obtained arms and ammunition from one Rabiu Hassan and supplied them to one Baba Alhaji Sanusi, a suspected bandit kingpin currently at large and believed to be hiding in a forest in Katsina State”.

“A thorough search of the hideout led to the recovery of two FN FAL rifles and live ammunition concealed within their hideout in the forest.

“Investigations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining members of the criminal syndicate currently at large, recover additional arms linked to the network, and charge all suspects to court,” she added.

A total of 17 family members belonging to Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad have surrendered to troops of Operation Hadin Kai in Borno State.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Acting Military Information Officer, Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Muhammed Goni, on Wednesday

Goni revealed that 16 of them surrendered in Konduga Local Government Area, while one other surrendered in Bama Local Government Area.

According to him, the surrendered relatives are in military custody undergoing preliminary profiling and debriefing.

“Sustained offensive operations by troops of Operation HADIN KAI, OPHK, have continued to exert significant pressure on terrorist elements operating across the North-East theatre, resulting in the voluntary surrender of 17 family members of Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad, JAS, in separate incidents in Borno State,” the statement read.

It further stated that in the first incident, at about 9:15 a.m. on August 4, 2026, 16 JAS family members, comprising 10 women and six children, voluntarily surrendered to troops of the 222 Battalion during a domination patrol along the Gezuwa axis in Konduga Local Government Area.

The statement noted that during preliminary debriefing, the surrendered individuals disclosed that sustained military pressure on terrorist enclaves significantly influenced their decision to surrender.

“A total sum of N92,000 was recovered from the group during the process,” he added.

The spokesman pointed out that in a similar operation at about 12:04 p.m. on the same day, an 11-year-old JAS family member voluntarily surrendered to troops of the 202 Battalion under Sector 1 in Bama Local Government Area.

The Kano State Police Command has warned individuals and organisations against conducting medical outreaches or administering drugs and locally made medicines without approval from relevant authorities, following the arrest of five suspects in Kano.

The command issued the warning in a statement on Wednesday by its spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.

According to the statement, operatives of the 52 Police Mobile Force (PMF), Challawa, intercepted six male suspects attached to the Brother Paul Legacy Foundation at the ECWA Church located behind the 52 PMF Base in Challawa on Monday.

The police said the suspects, led by 50-year-old Simon Gbaaondo from Karu in Nasarawa State, were allegedly administering unverified and unauthorised locally made medicine to a large crowd of residents from the Panshekara community.

According to the command, the medicine was being distributed free of charge and also offered for sale without clearance from the Kano State Government, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), or other relevant health regulatory agencies.

The police said the activity had earlier generated public complaints and concerns among residents before the intervention of security operatives.

It added that the person who hosted the suspects at the church premises had also been invited to assist with the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the unauthorised medical activity.

The statement said the matter was initially reported at the Panshekara Police Division before being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), where the five suspects are currently undergoing further investigation.

The command warned that individuals and organisations must not administer drugs, locally made medicines or organise medical outreaches without proper authorisation and verification from the relevant authorities.

“Such acts pose serious health and security risks to the public, especially when large crowds are involved,” the statement said.

The police also reaffirmed their commitment to protecting residents and maintaining public order across the state.

“The Kano State Police Command remains committed to ensuring the safety, security and well-being of all residents and will not condone any activity capable of endangering public health or public order,” the statement added.

The command urged members of the public to report any suspicious medical outreaches or distribution of unverified medicines to the nearest police station.
